Mohammad Amir quotes while doing a video Q/A session with his fans:

"It felt good to dismiss Virat Kohli twice in two balls as he's a very good batsman."

"The best moment of my life was to play for Pakistan then after that, the two wins at the WT20 and the CT."

(On Rohit Sharma's comments about Amir being an average bowler) "Everyone has their own opinions, I am just focusing on my performance. If someone calls me a big bowler, or a good or bad bowler, it doesn't make a different to me. People are free to state their opinions."

"My favourite wickets in the Champions Trophy were all three that I got in the final."

"MS Dhoni is a very humble person and he's been a very good cricketer and captain for India."

"Shoaib Malik is my favourite in the Pakistan team and I hold him in high regard."

"Wasim Akram has always been my favourite and I took up cricket after watching him play. He's helped juniors in camps, myself too and I admire him a lot."

"When I made my debut, Shane Watson was the toughest batsman to bowl to. Now Steve Smith is the toughest batsman to bowl to, he has an awkward technique and you can't tell what he will do next."

"I do batting practice whenever I get a chance."

"I don't have any magic, I am returning after 5 years and have only been playing for around a year since my return. Things are getting better for me and God-willing performances will keep improving."

"We can definitely win the 2019 World Cup. If we keep up the momentum as we did in the CT then there's no reason why we can't win the World Cup also."

"Kohli and de Villiers are both very dangerous batsmen but I believe that Kohli is the best."

Well said Amir. Glad to see maturity.

Also kudos to Shoaib Malik! #respect

Spoiled brat (that means, one more Malik *******). This is becoming chronic - almost every young player likes, respects & be friend with this bits & pieces all-rounder, who can't play short ball to save his life ....... must be a politician & exploiter of young players (means, young players are often misled by his cunning tricks).

Left alone a juicy half volley outside the off stump.

Sharma never said amir is an avg bowler infact media was asking him about it and he said like amir has just returned & let him prove again , don't create hype.

The only teams who are contenders are Aus, India and Pakistan. I'll be shocked if one of them doesn't win. If I had to rank them in terms of chances, it will probably be

-Aus
-Pakistan
-India

They have solid sides and can handle the pressure of a big ICC tournament.

Other teams are either not good enough or don't have the mental strength did win a big tournament like this, some teams fall under both categories.

I'd say England are strong favourites for the whole tournament.

Us beating them in a one off, doesn't take away from the fact they've become a juggernaut of an ODI team since 2015, and will have home advantage.

But the other 3 I agree with. Those are the 4 contenders for sure. I don't think NZ/SA have the bottle for it.

England and SA don't have the bottle for it.

NZ simply aren't good enough, we've punched above our weight most tournaments before getting knocked out in the SFs against better sides.

We're not going to win a tournament until we have a team with at least 5 world class players.

He also temporarily "forgot" Rohit Sharma's name when listing the three wickets. :amir2

i beleive pak batting is still weak.specifically middle order hafeez ****** and malik

Great reply. Rohit Sharma has obviously bitten off more than he can chew with his statements. Amir has demolished him in just about every encounter.

If the CT is any indication Pakistan enjoys English conditions more than anyone else, the English included.

of course we can. can't take eng and sa in tournaments seriously. in my opinion aus, pak and ind are favorites. would love another pak vs ind final.

I agree with others think it's between Aus, Ind and Pak. Kind of nice to hear us as one of the favourites for once. Can't see Eng or SA winning it as they still haven't got over the pressure of winning a tournament, they always have a screw up match somewhere along the line where they muck up. New Zealand have a similar problem and their side isn't as good as it once was, Elliot, Vettori, McCullum gone, Boult and Southee not as good as they once were. Corey Anderson has deteriorated with the bat at least. The NZ side is a funny one they go through short periods where their side is as good as anyone's and then falls away.

Sri Lanka look underwhelming obviously as do West Indies. Bangladesh look better that in the past, and a semi final spot again wouldn't surprise me, however I don't think they're used to the pressure of winning a tournament as they haven't done it yet and their bowling just seems too poor.

I have a feeling that Pak has a very good chance of winning the next WC in England. We perform well in England then also have an up and ever improving side. There are still question marks over the batting in particular. Will the likes of Shoaib Malik still be around by then. Only two years to go, we need to start making plans right now.

Mature guy - know how to handle "leading questions" with double edge. Need to improve English - if that can convince PCB at last ...............

Yes the Asian cricketers must improve English as that's more important than cricket I agree 100% with you.

English is not for me, I watch cricket, don't listen it - actually do listen, but from a different set of cricketers. The sort of inferiority complex that I feel, it's almost like a prerequisite to speak in Oxbridge English for PAK Captains.

what?
The players who speak English more confidently [your hafeez s imads of the world] tend to be much less talented than the players who struggle with speaking English~ classic case of class prejudice and colonial internalised oppression

I wish his batting skills were as good as his PR, he is surviving because of PR skills, but as team gets younger and better at playing pace, his value would diminish... Immad and Hafeez are surviving on similar skill set, not to mention Captain's main skill is motivating and keeping players honest(he is no Kohli, Root, Smith on skill set), I am not sure if we need that much supporting stuff within playing 11 ;-)

Don't understand this getting Kohli out on 2 balls. The first one was a pathetic dropped catch and not out.

It should be more like induced edges on 2 consecutive deliveries.

Saying out on 2 balls sounds as though Kohli was out on the first ball and India cheated and escaped on the first delivery.

One of the reason this was in conversion, Indian media(and fans, even they had a billboard on that noball) was making too much of Fakir's getting out on 'noball', after that he played another 90+ balls, you could have got him out again. They forget Kohli and Yvi dropped catches in first match and one again in Final...Blaming match on that noball is easy escape route...In response, Pakistani fans keep mention, we gave your star player a dolly chance too :ashwin:

Me and most of my friends do not blame the loss on zaman's innings. He had some luck with him and made full use of it.

The loss is simply due to team selection and terrible bowling by Ashwin and Jadeja. India had to carefully play out Amir's first 3!overs and they could not do that. Amir was getting some swing and seam movement. But Rohit played like a noob. Planted His foot when the ball was swinging in. Kohli tried to over compensate for the swing and was trying to flick everything to leg side. Intention was good. But he had to play straight and would have survived.

Pandya proved that it was a belter of a pitch and all India had to was be 40/1 after 10 overs and the chase would have been on.

Pak was the superior team on that day and they were in red hot form. Deserved to win and they did it emphatically.

will someone tell me about the photo session with british army with Amir ?
was it fake ?

True - one has to make the XI on playing merit. Next 2 ICC events are in UK & AUS, when he'll be 2 years closer to 40+ generation. Already struggling to anything over thigh height, by then it'll come down to knee level & at a pace of our Soumya. Ideally, he should retire with dignity as the CT Champion. But, that's not happening much is our Asian culture - at least PCB can keep him in squad & politely rotate with younger players. I do like him lot, but even best preserved food has an expiry - and we don't wait for the last day of it.

If Arthur remains in charge, PAK do has a realistic shot at 2019 title, but not with a team with average official age of 31+. 2 years before the tournament is the ideal time to chop that average age by 3-5 years so that by 2019 & 2020, it reaches again around 29 with a bit of experience as well. As of now, what I see is PAK falling into same trap like 2015 - several over aged players carried at key spot, because there was no younger replacement ready just before a WC. Besides, what better podium Malik, MoHa, Wahab or even Azhar (ODI) can get that retiring as CT Winners?

Selection was bad from both parties. Rule # 1 never play two let alone three spinners against Pakistani/Indians, they both violated that rule...

We all were surprised by Pakistanis scoring 340, which ironically was 20 runs under power given the last overs...Fakir going after spinners was not as big of a surprise, because we can find 5/6 players who can spank spinners, so is India...He did in extra darring style, that caught India off-gaud and changed the momentum, India could not recover from that point onward...

With runs on board, we were always going to be dangerous no matter how belter of wicket it was or where or who we play against...This is something our bowlers are not used too. Ramiz was right, catching Pakistan in upswing is a whole different proposition ;-)

Also in tournament, momentum is key specially bowling momentum, bowlers get chance to recover batsmen do not. That's why bowlers win tournament, we had seen that many times. Fast bowlers are always important in Western conditions, that is advantage to us, in a sense, if they get their rhythm right, that's key in tournaments...Even in 2015 WC, Irfan and Wahab were in good rhythm(they were ideal for those surfaces), batters were too gutless and Irfan injury in key match against AUS had an effect...

At the end Strac won the WC in 2015, even when BAZ was going after him, it was matter only of time when he would have lost his wicket, that was never going to work. During league stage, they almost bowled out chasing 160 despite daring batting by BAZ in the beginning...

The no ball barely got mentioned by anyone.

First time hearing this. Looks like Bangladesh team got their fans more humbled in CT

Nothing to be humbled due to CT as I always have said that Pak is the best tourist amongst all Asian teams in non Asia countries. U can check my comments in respective threads. And by the way- some Pak posters need to be humbled after CT as one series doesn't show the future.

A very good young side developing with arguably the best bowling attack in the world currently, Pakistan sure has a good chance to win the World Cup.

Just one game in the series so not sure if he is a sure pick for World Cup?

He is a sure pick. He will play all the games in the England series. The management think not to waste him in the UAE.
