"We can use drone strikes in Jammu & Kashmir if people accept collateral damage" : Indian Army chief

General Rawat answered:

“You see, across also there can be mistakes. Either way, whether in your territory or the territory across, there will be mistakes. So if we are willing to accept these mistakes, and we feel that there will be no repercussions, there will be no backlash, there is a way forward.

“It’s not to say that we can’t use it. That is the reason why we are trying to procure these weapons. But these weapons are being procured more for… not for the hybrid warfare systems, we’re looking at it from the conventional war… but yes, anything that we procure has got dual use.

“But the first issue is of collateral damage. We get so concerned. In your own nation, your people get concerned about collateral damage so much – when you are fighting this kind of warfare, I think you have to accept that collateral damage will happen. It is war. If that is something which we can accept, then there is just no problem in using these kind of weapons.

“But can we accept it. Will the international community get after us? Or will they spare us in case mistakes happen? That is a call we have to take. Otherwise there is just no problem in using it.”

I am against drone attack. Not one innocent life should be taken.

Btw, you must be forgetting but US used it on "your own people".

Taking like a BJP politician.
Is he readying himself for a future in politics by any chance?

Collateral damage? Since when did Indian government consider the killing of Kashmir as collateral damage?

India has always been concerned about the killing of innocents in Kashmir. Though they are not concerned about what happens to militants and terrorists.

Sure!

Next will be the rape was/is being done to protect Kashmiri female.

It doesn't matter if Kashmiris are killed by the Indian occupational forces dircetly or through drones. Will only create more hatred against their so called army leading to more attacks on them.

Nobody shoulf be surprised by this.

This is exactly how ALL Indian army generals think and this is actually a criteria for their appointment in areas of conflict. They are just being more public about their views now because they know the central party shares their views.

This. Just like his masters Modi-Shah.

This Rawat guy has always been a loudmouth. Never ever heard any Indian army head speaking in media so regularly and that too like this.

Drone strikes are a cowardly tactic, not suprised by this threat from India.

Check where Drone strikes are done in South Asia, plus it's the only tech where Pak is ahead of India..or was 3 years ago so lol ok.

Now he says that Pakistan should turn secular if it wants good ties with India. Never knew that India has good ties only with secular republics.

That's the problem of having loudmouths at such high positions and this Modi govt doesn't have any shortage of them, led by most foul mouth of all.

Can’t say that I’m surprised. Statements like these are to be expected and they have lost their shock value. RIP humanity.

For Pakistan to stay together with India, it will first have to become a secular state: Army Chief
He was reacting to Imran Khan's statement on France and Germany staying together.

Reacting to the statement by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan that if France and Germany can stay together why not India and Pakistan, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said that for Pakistan to stay together with India, it will first have to become a secular state.

General Rawat made the statement while interacting with the media on the sidelines of the Passing Out Parade of 135th course of National Defence Academy in Pune, which he reviewed on Friday morning.

“For this idea of countries coming together, Pakistan will have to look at their own internal situation. Pakistan has made itself into an Islamic State. If they have to stay together with India, they will have to become a secular state. We are a secular state. How can we stay together, when they say they are an Islamic State and there is no role for anyone else,” Gen Rawat said.

When asked about Khan’s statement that if India takes one step Pakistan will take two, Gen Rawat said, “India has taken the first step several times. At least show us one step from your side. Terrorism is growing in your country. At least show us some action from your side against terrorism.”

Gen Rawat also spoke about the scope of increasing the role of women in the Armed forces and said that areas like information warfare, psychological warfare and role as interpreters in military diplomacy are some of the areas where there will be a bigger role played by women in coming days.

“We want to move forward in our relations with India. If France and Germany who fought several wars can live in peace, why can’t India and Pakistan,” Khan had said Wednesday while laying the foundation stone for the Kartarpur corridor.

“I am saying today, that our political leaders, our army, and all other institutions are all on one page. We wish to move forward, we want a civilised relationship,” Khan said. “I assure you that we can solve this problem. But determination and big dreams are necessary. Imagine, once trade begins, once our relationship is fixed, how much both nations could benefit.”

Think our friend is talking too much - Usually Indian military have always kept a respectable distance from politics etc - but could this be a change in the military's role in Indian politics?

Here we go

I don't know what are they trying to achieve here?

(Maybe they're in panic mode cuz the 'boogie man aka Pakistan' is talking about peace.)

PS: Jammu Kashmiri advocates should bring this clown in front of Court for hate speech. If there is such thing in Indian constitution.
