"We feel like we can beat any opposition" : Faheem Ashraf

Absolute champion last over from Faheem Ashraf - shows why he is so highly regarded by Pakistan

We should keep him for the next game, he is not a new ball bowler though, he is more the type of bowler to keep things tight in middle period.

Faheem Ashraf needs to produce a serious Bowling effort here

It’s a make or break situation for him now! It’s a shame because I really like him and I feel he can become a great player for us. I’m afraid if he doesn’t produce any goods now and provide vital break through it will not look good for him.

Can he produce? Test of real mental character.

I think this pitch will suit him, if he bowls wicket to wicket then he’ll be pretty successful.

Expect him to take 3 wickets in the powerplay.

Couldn't agree more with you.I definitely do see him as a potential match winner but he has to PERFORM.Time is running out for him.

Am losing patience with his batting failures myself even though he has shown to be a destructive player in domestic cricket. Seriously needs to start delivering with the bat now

Love the spirit of Pakistan players including Faheem - but Faheem needs to support Shaheen

In what universe averaging 16 @80 strike is destructive? May be on 90s. All the hype made me curious enough to look up his record. There is nothing against international side and nothing to note against domestic sides either. What am I missing?

Mickey Arthur on Faheem Ashraf

"I think he's a fantastic cricketer. We've got to realise he's a very young cricketer, still finding his way. We're trying to develop a seam bowling all-rounder. Our best way of winning Tests is with five bowlers, that's our most attacking style and that's the brand we want to play to win Tests. We have to work on his batting though, he is critical to the team"

"The reason we couldn't go with five bowlers was Shadab Khan - for us to play 5 bowlers, he becomes paramount in that selection. He can bat 7 and he can be our 5th bowler. That's no slight on Yasir Shah, we can play both of them with three seamers as well. Faheem is probably not able to bat at #7 in our Test side at this point as that makes our tail too long. So with Shadab not available for Test #1, we couldn't go down that line. We're trying damn hard with Faheem's batting, he works immensely hard on his game. His bowling has got better at times. Towards the back end of the tour, he was iffy but when he had clarity about his role, he produced at the death so we've got to take the confidence he bowls with at the death to his first couple of overs and then we'll get the best out of him. I still think he's a very talented cricketer and one that we can work on going forward"

Guess Mickey has changed!!

PakPassion.net: What's it like playing under Mickey Arthur, he looks quite daunting on television at times?

Faheem Ashraf: Before I was part of the Pakistan squad I had heard from some of the players that he is quite scary at times. But since I have played under him and got to know him a bit, he's a great guy. He just wants the best for the Pakistan team and he wants 100% from the players. He only gets upset when a player makes the same mistake again and again and where those mistakes have already been mentioned to that player previously. You know where you stand with a guy like Mickey Arthur and that is something that works for me.

I hope he can improve his hitting abilities.

He looked like a great talent when he started his career.
