Asad Shafiq speaking at end of Day 4

I don't think the lead is that much as it stands now; Our bowlers did a good job to get those wickets but we need last one as well quickly

We have a good enough batting order to chase target down

It is true that wicket is difficult to bat on Day 5

It has some rough areas for West Indies spinners to exploit

But we need to find a way to score runs as Azhar Ali showed

We will look to bat in a positive manner

It's important that our openers get through the new ball period as it makes it easy for late order batsmen

We don't have a specific plan to play their bowlers but we are also good to tackle them

westindies either need to take all wickets to win or if they want draw out of this match just dont take any wicket.
azhar and shehzad will score 150 at best at the end of the day.

Mr timid reading from the book. If we get a good start and second wicket falls with hundred needed, I would send sarfaraz in
There is no need to draw the game out long which is what will happen with our normal order and probably end up pressurising ourselves

We indeed do, apart from you, who is again going to give up to the situation.

ive my pessimistic hat on today, and i do not see pakistan chasing this at all.

a meek surrender and possibly giving the best opportunity to win a series in carribean. the twenty minutes by tea kinda deflated us totally.

The chase will depend on the mind set of the batting and espcially the openers.

But if Azhar and shehzad are going to bat negatively and bat like snails like in 1st inns we will lose this game.

I got a feeling W.I will sneak a win here.

if it comes to shafiq, which it will, i can even picture the mode of his dismissal.

angled bat with an inswinger wrapping on the pads or hitting off stump

or a tame prod against the leg spinning delivery and then walking hastily and angrily away from the pitch.

...only because Pakistan will be negative and too slow in their approach and as someone pointed earlier, it will backfire.

WI are slight favourites now 200 or so on this sort of pitch is difficult. But credit to them, they've batted really well, didnt expect them to get 260 plus.

Hopefully we'll chase it. We've got quite a few good players of spin, Misbah, YK, Sarfraz, even Asad are all generally good. And azhar while far better against pace has been immense of late. Also WI only have one full time spinner even though Shadab hasnt done too much, think was a bit early for him to be picked for tests. Picking two legspinners as well isn't too much variety, two different types would have suited us more. At the moment pretty much what Shadab does, Yasir does better.

Pakistan should look to send Sarfraz in early at 3/4 and just be positive and show some intent in the inns and run chase. If pakistan are going to bat in there shells the pressure will come and a pathetic collapse will occur.

Disagree, i'd leave Sarfraz down the order. We need some mental fortitude down the order to hold together the lower order, and he's the best guy i can think of.

Keep the order the same IMO, no need to panic just chase down the runs. Messing around with the order will just complicate things, and show we're scared.

Shafiq should be the last person to give out such random statements - the guy's a mental midget and I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow bottles it if came to him in the batting order.

even if we do you certainly wont be contributing much to it considering your form and general mental midgetness

If we're going for the win Sarfaraz needs to come up

he will up the tempo and put Windies under immense pressure if he does well

however dont expect him to stand up if we are in for a scrap and have to bat out the day to draw the match. So might as well send him up

Shafiq to come to resque again unless it doesn't even get to him.

Wow a lot of pessimism here
Expecting a fairly comfortable chase
4 wickets victory at worst

Unfortunately you are the last person under pressure situation to depends on

thank you for the confidence booster

thing is, whatever i believe or hope rarely matters as it is the people in the ground who have to do the thing. genuinely feel that we should have secured a lead of around 150 runs. that phase where misbah, shafiq, and sarfaraz went in close succession was a game changing 20 minutes. 40 from sarfraz would have definitely help us get a substantial lead and seal the game.

Lets not forget that this is the only batsman who got us close to chasing 490 in Australia after coming out at 4-165. He might have low self esteem but that's not something you can't recover from. Expect dumb fans to keep praising the talunt of the Akmals and their chronic failures over Asad.

You forgot the poke outside off against the pacer.

If he bats more than he talks, there's a chance we can think of chasing targets.

Think even he must be surprised by looking at the scores!
