"We have experienced batsmen who can take advantage of this flat & slow pitch" : Mohammad Abbas

Mohammad Abbas spoke to the press after end of Day 1 of 2nd Test:

"We seemed to be on top in the first 2 sessions but then Chase and Holder played well after that"

"We were a bit unlucky as there were some close edges, balls went close to stumps but this is all part of cricket"

"We will try tomorrow morning to finish off the innings as soon as possible"

"We have good and experienced batsmen who can take advantage of this flat & slow pitch"

"Our first job is to get West Indies out and then bat as long as possible to put ourselves in a winning position"

"We would like to bowl them out within the next 30-40 more runs"

"Compared to the previous Test, the pitch in this match was difficult to bowl on; its disintegrating a bit with spike marks showing"

"We are trying to bowl wicket-to-wicket and not giving any room to the batsmen to make them struggle a bit"

They will make 350+ that's for sure and Pakistan to bat last. Very defensive team selection by Misbah going with four bowlers. Shadab can bat so I would dropped Shafiq for Shadab and played Hassan/Wahab

No way can We take such a huge gamble ; selection is fine just need to persevere

Only 2 quick bowlers for a Barbados Test, one of whom is in his second match?

That's a huge workload. And it also ruins the effectiveness of Yasir and Shadab, neither of whom exactly excels in the First Innings.

Fact is shafiq need to step up. Scoring 100s in the 4th innings when tests are lost doesnt mean much.

He has played lots of tests but still cant perform when it really matters.

It was swinging and seaming, ideal bowling conditions for at least 20-30 overs.

Why the bowlers didn't take more wickets?

Cricket isn't a joke and the West Indies aren't here to play a game of scrabble. They want to win too, especially in front of their home crowd. Or as they say in Urdu, Unho nay chooriyan nahi pehni hui.

No, you don't let a team get to 300/6 from 140/6. That too a weak side like WI.

Failure of bowling, just accept it.

Maybe so, but I disagree. 146/6 was just an illusion. Their top order is worse than that of Zimbabwe's. Especially after losing Bravo. Just look at it, 2 debutants, a batsman with an average of less than 20 and a guy making a comeback. Only good player there is Kraigg and even he's going through a patch of lean form.

The batting really starts later. With Powell, Holder and Chase - the lower order is much stronger.

And it just goes to show how weak our bowling attack is, as soon as we were up against two decent batsman our bowling looked toothless.

Absolute rubbish attack we're carrying currently.

Mate in modern day Test cricket you need to have a fifth bowling option; every team has it. It's not uae that you can get away with four bowlers. You flopped in Australia big time because of lack of a fifth bowler despite scoring 400 plus in first innings. India defeated a much super WI last year by playing 5 bowlers. Shadab can be a prodigy but after all he is playing his first Test in alien conditions. You did need a fifth bowler here

Pakistan have bowled quite well. I saw a little bit of the test and both Amir and Abbas did well. Misbah needs to persevere and not sit back when Chase is on strike. 286 is nothing in a test and with only 4, very poor wickets left, he should be attacking on both sides with some boundary riders just in case. Get them for 320-50 and Pak can mount a good lead as long as their batsmen play well.

Pakistan will need to bat really well here, otherwise there is every chance we will collapse in the 4th innings to lose the match.
