"We should arrange a few series in UAE so that we can become number one again" : Mohammad Yousuf

Mohammad Yousuf speaking on TV after 3-0 loss in Australia:

"Compared to before, it was looking as if we will be able to win in Australia."

"Australian bowling wasn't that special and the conditions were very easy, wickets also suited us but despite all that we lost this series so badly."

"When we used to lose in the past, we could say that those teams were very good but this time, the Australian team wasn't that experienced."

"We had Yasir Shah one of the best leg-spinners in the world being hit about as if he was playing for the first time."

"We should immediately arrange a few series in the UAE so that we can become number one again."

He is the best leg-spinner in the world.

Bitter man will remain bitter

Don't agree with afridi much but he was spot on when he said Yousuf has a MASSIVE inferiority complex

Out of interest. How many Tests did Yousuf win in Australia?

even that was sarcastic comment he's completely wrong. Pak won't get no.1 if they keep loses to team like WI & SL.

This coward only talks when we lose, he was silent during the England series.

Yousuf himself won't be able to get a win in UAE

We were #1 by default!!!! The Test Match between the Indians and the WI was washed out, and that is what made us #1 ..... for a while !!! Lots of people forget that. No doubt, that we were in unique #2 position to grab #1 ranking. So we should get some credit for that !!!

Next time when you decide to open the ranking table, please do bother to read the rating points aswell.

Ranks are given based on all the teams rating points.

india and pakistan both have finally completed home and abroad season...and now the ranking is deflecting truth..earlier we only had away tours and pakistan only had home....now both have completed away and home sets.....

Bitter man who did no better than the current team in Australia both as a captain and as a batsman. King of soft runs

Keep dreaming MoYo - even Afghan board is much smarter than PCB. Next time Aussies & Poms & Safars & Kiwis will come with proper preparation. And, their boards don't need to try much - BCB will always be happy to play couple of Tests in SEP-OCT with non Asian sides .......

These sort of pundits are killing PAK cricket.

Moyo was an awful captain in Australia leading a fractious bunch.

Misbah is pakistans most experienced and successful captain leading a well knit team. On both occasions it was an absolute hammering.

Moral of the story, Australia and South Africa can't be beaten in a half hearted manner. Arrive early prepare better and hope everyone is fit and available

Yousuf was 100 times the batsmen misbah could ever be and both are as awful captain as each other. Anyone can win matches in the UAE. It doesn't get a genius to win you games at UAE. Makes me laugh when Misbah fans call Yousuf a metal midget. I wonder what Misbah is then.

Just out of interest, how many test series did the team Yousuf play in lose at HOME?

Right, Misbah could even dream of scoring 1800 runs in 10 test matches, plus he was enjoyable to watch, I still remember his ODi hundred in RSA, single handely won us match...

Single handedly won the match but somehow Younis Khan was man of the match.

Mohammad Yousuf's average in Australia - 31. In South Africa - 26. In Sri Lanka - 33.

He'll argue he faced better bowling attacks. On his last tour of Australia in 2009-10 - he averaged 29 against a weaker Australian bowling attack than current one:

Sounds like you could've done with some UAE series yourself Moyo saab.

He also argued that conditions were batting friendly this time comparatively.

Moyo seems to be forgetting the Melbourne and Hobart pitches were flat in that 09/10 series. And after Day 1 the Sydney pitch was good for batting. Yet he still failed against a weaker Australian attack.

All I'm saying is people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

"We should immediately arrange a few series in the UAE so that we can become number one again."

Disagree with this quote from MY. I would rather our players lose but get better and gain experience in tough/unfamiliar conditions than just whitewash teams in the UAE and claim easy wins. We want our players to get better and better rather than take the easy route.

None but we demand the same treatment with Misbah what Yousuf received.

Same as Misbah

But moyo couldn't take any team to #1 position. And he could never do as good as Misbah did in his entire Test career.

Team was never as competitive as it was under Misbah, and is still unbeatable at an adopted home, let alone own home.

And Misbah made us do great in England.

It's amazing how unspecial the bowlers and easy the conditions get if you're not the one batting.

This is coming from someone who averages 31.88 in Australia, 26.10 in South Africa, 33.80 in Sri Lanka, and 33.73 in India.

I respect this guy, but seriously can not understand why just to come in limelight or in news these past cricketers like Akhtar, Yousuf, etc. just criticise the team which is uncalled for. Yousuf's own performance in Australia was not good either. Further, he failed miserably when he toured Australia as a player and as a Captain. He could not prevent the batting slide in the Sydney second test innings. His endless backing of Akmal brothers also dragged Pak cricket for some time, though temporarily. These former cricketers should desist from making insensitive comments, when they themselves were not that great.

The current team has given the confidence to the nation, they are not that talented, but they are also very hard working guys. Most of these guys never had the luxury to play comfortably in front of their home crowd, and to make endless centuries in an year. Even playing in UAE, is like touring another country. And to make the matter worse, the team is touring to NZ/AUS after 6/7 years.

High expectations come when you have a legacy of team, that has won many games in Australia, which we never had. Our current team has given us a hope that this time they could do wonders, however, no body has predicted that they would win the series, it was just that they will give a good fight. While in all likelihood, they were doing until the 5th day at MCG. So, criticizing just for the sake of saying anything is unfair.

Not yet. There are still 4 home and 4 away tests left for India and Pakistan respectively.
