What's new

We should be proud of Team Pakistan at the 2017 Champions Trophy on Sunday regardless of the result

We must use this CT success to be the launching pad for building a juggernaut of a LOI team which will be ready to win the WC 2 years from now and dominate in general.

It will help if get rid of Azhar, Hafeez, Wahab and Shehzad altogether and replace them with superior players suited to the modern game with versatile skillsets.

Our chances in the final would be so much higher if we simply took out Hafeez and put in Haris.

Really hoping Sharjeel is cleared as he would be the kingpin of our batting who guys like Fakhar, Babar, Haris and Sarf can compliment.

Just amazing what happens when you reward performers from domestic and play the RIGHT personnel.

This team is still ways away from its optimal lineup combination but CT has given us a base and we cannot waste it!

I think we need to win it now and we need to come out of the jinx, m really very sad about Ganguly comments on pakistan team where he mentioned that Indian team is far superior than pakistan team and luck support pakistan to reach in this stage, no sir you are wrong here, luck always support the peoples who work hard/passionate/honest,
Go green Go our prayers best wishes all with you, it will be in father day and show them who is father

Pakistan have fought with a heart, courage and bravery which has not been seen in a very long time.

Look we're not the most perfect team, we have talent but it's rarely developed efficiently enough for us to utilise, we can't play our games at home, our neighbours always belittle us, we have a poor domestic infrastructure, can't play in the IPL, our best players get consumed by the world of taking short cuts at times,

Excess baggage is never eliminated in our team due to the seniority complex, our fans only support Pakistan when they do well and look to pelt them with stones when they fail; not before hoping for Pakistan's failure because we don't like selector or player x because then our opinions would get proven wrong, there is never any consistency for a long periods and everyone is always as good as their last game be it a coach, cricketer or selector. Quite frankly despite all these factors and root problems us fans and experts etc still expect Pakistan to win every game and put them under immense pressure.

And because Pakistan is inconsistent they never truly get the credit when they do win because it was all down to being "unpredictable" "favourable conditions" etc and not due to excellence on the cricket pitch.

I know it's tough being a Pakistan fan but we also give the team a really hard time as fans without taking into context the extenuating circumstances of our team but despite these we have found ourselves in the final after being defeated by India emphatically during the group stage. It's the sought of defeat you'd think very few can recover from but Pakistan fought back with unreal resilience.

So please, lower your expectations and enjoy the magnificent contest! I must admit that I was very confident of our team reaching the final but have concerns with regards to their chances in the final but despite this will sit back and relax! after all the no.8 ranked team in the world! my beloved Pakistan whom everyone wrote of reached the final AGAINST ALL ODDS! LET THAT SINK IN!

I am proud of:

Fakhar Zaman
Azar Ali
Babar Azam
Sarfraz
Hafeez
Shoaib Malik
Imad Wasim
Shadab Khan
Junaid Khan
Hasan Ali
Ruman Raees
Mohammad Amir
Fahim Ashraf

Inzamam Ul Haq
Mickey Arther
Steve Rixon
Grant Flower
Azhar Mahmood

What a beautiful thread. This is what the Spirit Squad is all about. Always back the team instead of being fairweather fans.

Making it to the final is more than I would have expected in my wildest dreams so I am really proud and happy with what the achived irrelevant of the result on Sunday.

Well done boys keep up the good hard work.

This is BS,India last CT didn't lose a match and Aussies usually in WCs are unbeatable, the Poms were beaten fair and square.

Who said they weren't beaten fair and square? The fact is that this current English team will beat this current Pakistan team roughly 8/10 times. In order for Pakistan to win, the English team needs to have a torrid day and that is what happened. Yes Pakistan played very well, but if both teams do so, England would still win since the gulf is quite big.

i've grown irrationally fond of this pessimism. it is a kind of psychological insurance isn't it? you were let down grievously once and it won't happen again...

just for the sake of speculation.

what if we fight tooth and nail but loose but by a hair's breadth? if it comes down to the last over, the last wicket?

If we lose a nail-biter with the younger players performing, it will show that this lot has a bit more fight in them. However, it will also mean that the generation of Zaman, Babar, Hasan, Shadab, Ashraf etc. have been mentally scarred as well, and don't know how to beat India on the big stage.

I won't engage in sensationalism and say that winning the Champions Trophy would be "Miandad six" moment, but the next generation of players need to know what it takes to beat India when the stakes are high. It is very vital for Pakistan to win tomorrow and on the back of the new players.

England has a mantle block against Pakistan and come a crunch game it is expected that its a 50-50 game despite difference in quality. They did not have a torrid day because they just played badly it was Pakistan that did not let them play well.

We were not winning on the basis of performances, we win because of Ramadan and Prayers only and will win against india in final too.

Yes this pakistan team looks light years away from the one that played against India in the first match in terms of confidence, bowling, fielding and captaincy. I honestly never expected them to reach the second round, far less the final. You all aught to feel proud of your team, but one more win would hurt no one.;-)

Seems like most fans have given up on winning against India. Your team is peaking at right time . If you don't hope of beating India with this form then you will never.

Personally i have given up on beating India..i just want this match to be over soon as i know we will lose..and most people i know have given up on beating india too

Like most, I think, I feel like we are underselling ourselves by playing deadwood like Hafeez and Azhar. This kind of selection makes for a very fragile and one dimensional batting order, capable of executing basically one game plan, the one that has won us games so far. It is a shame because even if we can't assemble a lineup like India's we could become more competitive with players like Haris and Faheem coming in for Azhar and Hafeez. And then we could really make this a match between India and Pakistan v.2, rather than Pakistan v.1.5 beta (pun intended)

Getting a whooping from India in the first game has been a blessing in disguise. Aside from the rise of the young guns, more importantly it has shown that the dead wood have to go post CT.

If they play in Cardiff I'd say Pakistan will win 8/10. The simplest explanation for why a team what had been crushing everything in its path until now failed to do so is not, I think, 'having a torrid day' - an explanation which as is so often the case, begs more questions than it answers - but basically what everyone saw; Pakistan played better cricket all around, in some part because conditions suited them better. Morgan and Stokes didn't become worse players overnight, they just didn't have the game to cope with Hasan and co, and to be fair to them, neither did Amla and ABDV, nor Matthew and Mendis.

"There is no power in the world that can undo Pakistan"

16 years at war, 75000 people dead. Schools, masjids, hospitals, markets, cricket grounds etc attacked with 9 years of no cricket at home. Rated as the last team in ranking in Champions Trophy. Treated equivalent to the likes of Afghanistan and Ireland cricket team. Even minnows like Afghanistan refused to play with Pakistan.

Guess who would be playing final of CT2017 tomorrow? The most resilient nation in the world. As our Quaid said:

Win or lose, we have already won

👍

we are a vastly talented and resourceful nation that puts our qualities to bad use mostly but there is no denying the resilient, mercurial and gifted nature of Pakistan.

Long live Pakistan, our sacred homeland!

Well said bro, Pakistani people are the most mentally resilient bunch I've ever seen; they just keep going despite all the obstacles and we should be proud when they do well. It's not about our favourites etc or personal views but all about Pakistan and on this day let us appreciate TEAM GREEN! and all their sacrifices which often go unnoticed
