Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed speaking on TV:

Thanks to all the crowd as they cheered for us all through our stay in England

This is a great win for us and it wasn’t an easy pitch to bat on but credit goes to Imad in the way he batted and handled the pressure

We knew it wasn’t an easy target and their bowlers used the conditions very well

We seemed to be going well with Babar and Imam but in middle overs we needed a partnership, but we didn’t get one

In the end we finished well, and everyone chipped in and its team work today

We knew it wasn’t an easy task to win all four games, but we are going match by match

Credit goes to my team in the way we handled the pressure in the NZ game where Babar and Haris played well and today Imad batted well, Wahab Riaz’s runs were very important

We all know that Shaheen Shah Afridi is a good bowler and he is improving day by day, and is working very hard; bowled really well today

The other bowlers also bowled well today, Amir and Shadab bowled well, Imad took 2 wickets today and got MoM, and Wahab also bowled well and all of them are in good nick

We will not be thinking about the England v India game, we wil be watching and hope the better team wins

If Pakistan vs Sri Lanka didn't get rained out, it could've been a different story. You need a bit of luck sometimes. Other teams got it when Pakistan and Sri Lanka's game got rained out. We got it today against Afghanistan.

The only game Pakistan have lost that they shouldn't have lost was against the West Indies.
 
It was a stupid question to ask and only an idiot would have said we will be supporting India. His answer was perfect.

Why would he want to put himself in trouble by saying we will praying for india to win tomorrow.? That would put him media headlines all over india and Pakistan .

What a great captain he guided us to CT success and now we are very close to qualifying for the WC semi finals.

I doubt 'We will be praying for an India win' would have gone down well...

What is dumb is that people make an issue of such a non-issue. People grow up and support your team and captain. And stop being so childish.
 
Correct anwser by Sarfaraz. No need to say something on the lines of that we would be hoping that India will win. Just stay out of any unnecessary controversy.

Had he said yes we will be watching it like hawks and hoping India win and we dont have to wait for Nz vs Eng,the same people would have been like :Lord so obsessed with India,so unprofessional,such an embarrassment. For once he has given the right answer so stop finding problems with it.He has to be diplomatic and he was.

Why not say we would hope India or NZ to beat England? Choice of words can make a lot of difference.
 
Its so obvious PAK needs India to beat Eng tomorrow for them to have chance at semis and yet this statement. Embarassment.

He could've been honest about it and admit that we need other results to go in our favor. Media is having a go at him anyway, why back off saying the bleeding obvious? the world knows how Pakistan can qualify further, this is the only realistic scenario.

He clearly lacks the character of a leader IMO

I will be I'm going to stay up all night to watch England lose. If England win then lets be real we don't really have a chance since look at NZ they don't have a chance at beating any of the top 4 teams. So let's just pray that India smash England, so our game against Bangladesh is a virtual QF for us.

It is not a foregone conclusion that Pakistan would have beaten Sri Lanka. Both are circus teams and it could have gone either way.

Pakistan have been walking a tightrope since the opening game when they pulled off the stunt of losing inside 14 overs of the West Indies innings. It completely destroyed our NRR and we have been fretting since.

When you win your own games, you don’t have to worry about what happens elsewhere. However, because Pakistan is an incompetent team that cannot string 2-3 good performances together, it has to constantly look at what happens elsewhere.

We have been on the ropes since our opening day disaster against West Indies where the latter chased our massive target in 13.4 overs.

Overall, you won against Eng, RSA, and NZ, and are now ranked 4th. You will most likely go to semis.

So it’s relatively good performance from PAK and Sarfaraz can now go back home peacefully.
 
There are certain things you dont have control over and Eng winning or loosing will be one of those along with Srl game getting rained off. While Srl are no pushovers one would have expected Pak to go as favourites in the match but as I said somethings cant be controlled.

I think other than WI match Pak has played decent cricket throughout. Aus and India were clearly better teams than Pak mainly because of their experience and more players at their peak and as I have said multiple times Pak team is not that experienced as most of the guys in the squad and 11 are yet to play even 50 ODI matches.

Eng, NZ also had more players at their peak and Pak did really well to beat them with a team which isnt in its maturity stage. Will need similar performance against BD which is clearly more experienced and playing at their peak stage with atleast 3-4 players at their peak.

Qualifications in every sports tournament(knock-out) are dependent on other team's result. Be it football world cup, UCL or IPL etc.

As long as you are winning your games, you don’t have to worry about what is happening elsewhere. For example, India have never looked in any remote danger of not qualifying because they have been winning game after game.

Unfortunately, Pakistan is an incompetent, circus team that cannot string two good performances together. Our incompetence is the reason why Pakistani fans all over the world have to swallow their pride and support India of all teams today.

We have been at the mercy of other teams and other results since the opening game when WI chased our target inside 14 overs.

Only WI loss was bad other than than defeats against Aus and India were expected, we could have won against AUS if not for Malik while another point would have been secured if SL game was not washed out.

So performance in this World Cup has been alright, certainly much better than what I anticipated.

Pakistan was ranked 6th leading up to the World Cup and they have had an opening because the top (England) and the fourth (South Africa) ranked teams have performed well below their capacity.

In terms of individual performance, Pakistan have been their usual inconsistent mediocre self, but it has been helped by the situation of some other teams.

We have not seen anything in this World Cup that gives us an indication that the next two years will be any better than the previous two.

All these rankings are useless if the teams like England and South Africa underperform during a world cup when it matters the most.

We went in ranked 6th so we are exceeding expectations?

England went in ranked 1st and find themselves 5th.

Now tell me which team has been incompetent, a circus team that cannot string two good performances together in relation to their ability.

By contrast NZ's game against India got rained out. That's literally the only thing that might keep them in the tournament.

Would you rather have a game against India rained out or Sri Lanka?
 
Sarfaraz is sweating bullets right now. Tell you one thing he is definitely not yawning during this run chase.
 
I can tell you, each and every one of them is glued to the TVs in their rooms.

Probably with headphones on, don't want others to know they're watching it.
 
What else do you expect Sarfraz to say? When Rohit was asked about the Pakistan v India game, he stated he treated the game like any other, and the likes of Mamoon were praising him for his tact, when we all know Pakistan v India is like no other game for the players.
