Congratulations to all Pakistani people for getting the historic verdict..

In our part of the world it's extremely difficult to punish someone for corruption but the decision your judges took is remarkable and should be looked on by all other sub continent countries that even if the PM commits corruption he can be punished..

But remember this is just the start and not the end, corruption is one of the biggest issues in our part keep fighting to get Nawaz sharif charged as guilty and make him rot in jail.. Disqualification is only half a step the real step would be when he is jailed for his wrong doings.. If Pakistan can achieve that, it will go a long way in its fight against corruption..

The mentality of people here is cult following/choosing the lesser of the two corrupt, we should not accept mediocrity at all but people don't understand that.. Kudos to you guys for showing the entire sub continent by taking this bold decision

Thanks brother... So far only you JaDed and cricketjoshila are the indians who actually congratulated Pakistanis instead of finding any Army/Estb conspiracy behind all all this

Please correct me if I am missing something, but has justice been served? Were the ill gotten wealth seized, or was the guilty put behind bars? If I get to amass wealth which remains my own, I don't get imprisoned, and the only price I have to pay for this is having to vacate my chair, I will take this deal any day.

This is why congratulations are wasted. Nawaz and the PML-N didn't come out of a vacuum, the people who put him there are still in denial and probably think there is some sort of conspiracy to defame the Sharif clan.

Yes that's why if you read my post I state this is just the beginning.. If nothing is done after this the whole verdict would be a farce and nothing will be achieved out of it.. Pakistan has a glorious opportunity to defeat corruption and become a role model for fighting against corruption for the entire sub continent..

Most probably nothing will happen as you guys say..

Sorry but the question was addressed to the Pakistanis who know ground truth. It remains to be seen that corruption will reduce, and people who are moral and honest for 364 days of the year, will also remain saadiq and ameen on the 1 day they have to file their income tax returns.

Supreme Court is not a trial court. The judges disqualified him and directed trial court to initiate criminal proceedings against the Sharif clan within a set time limit.

Reminds me of an incident from a previous job. During a yearlong project worth about $3 million, our project manager ended up embezzling something to the tune of $700'000. Since he wasn't on good terms with the finance manager who caught on to him, the finance manager ended up reporting him and he got fired without a dime being recovered because the money had been carefully channeled through family members' accounts. That did not stop the finance manager from running around a whole month telling everyone how he saved the company tens of millions of Rupees.

Where did this happen? How did the company let him go so easily?

Islamabad and Multan, Pakistan. The company didn't make a big fuss because the proper channels for recovering embezzled funds involve the FIA and the board of directors did not want the FIA looking into their finances. It was a big company so $600'000-700'000 was a relatively small hit to their pockets.

Does not set a good precedent imo. What's stopping you or anyone else doing the same next?

I'm sure whatever it is they didn't want the authorities to see was worth a whole lot more than what that guy stole. That was one seriously unscrupulous organization. I don't see why else they wouldn't make an example of him and recover their losses.

Well there may be Army consipracy but that doesnt hide the fact that Nawaz Sharif is utterly corrupt.I hate corrupt leaders and only once you remove them will you get a leader who will be honest and challenge the hegemony of the Army.Thats how one can hope establish a true functioning and vibrant democracy.

Corruption is a smokescreen, religious extremism is the real danger in both india and pakistan. Nation is built by making institutions strong, so that the country doesn't have to depend on a pious god fearing messiah that india has, and pakistan wants to have.

No institution or person is bigger than the country. The country is build on the wishes of the people and not the whims of the leaders or institutions.

It is very rare for any form of action to be taken against the elite or political faction of society in so called third world, developing or Muslim countries. This is only one battle not war that has been won yet with the disqualification of NS. Until all these crooks are in prison and replaced by non corrupt and clean politicians nothing has changed. Also, the trillions NS and others have stolen must be seized and bought back to the country before any celebrations take place. Pak has taken the first step to what will be a long struggle.
