With the ODI series locked at 1-1, West Indies and Pakistan gear up for a decisive third clash at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy—a showdown brimming with stakes and history.

Shai Hope’s men are chasing a monumental milestone: their first bilateral ODI series win over Pakistan since 1991. A victory here would mark a historic breakthrough for Caribbean cricket.

Pakistan, after clinching the opening match, faltered in a rain-affected second ODI. Skipper Mohammad Rizwan will be counting on a more resilient batting performance, particularly from Babar Azam, who remains in pursuit of a century—his first in 71 innings across formats.

Squads:

Pakistan: Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan(w/c), Salman Agha, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Sufiyan Muqeem, Mohammad Nawaz, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali, Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Haris

West Indies: Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope(w/c), Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase, Romario Shepherd, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, Jediah Blades, Jewel Andrew, Johann Layne, Amir Jangoo, Justin Greaves

Why don't we try Haris as an opener for Abdullah... How bad can he be...
No, just no. That's moronic and career threatening.

Pcb is an incompetent board but im glad they realised hasan mawaz isnt an opener despite that 44 ball 100.

Haris is a no 3 in t20 and no 7 in odi. End of

100%

Jayden Seales will pierce a hole through Harris if he opens the innings.

This is based of past analysis.

Haris has only ever performed at no 3 in t20 and no 7 in odi despite being given very few chances in odi.

Dont know why they are wasting his talents.

Rizwan out, Harris in

Babar out, Naseem in, am sure he can’t do a worse job then Babar with the bat and can score useful runs down the order

Abdullah out, Faheem in

Abrar out, Sufiyan in

Saim Ayub to open, maybe we can send Nawaz at the top as a pinch hitter? If that’s criminal, Harris can open no problem.

Salman at no.3 & Hussain at no.4 and Nawaz at no.5

What’s with these three in the line-up:

Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan(w/c)

What Jaddu did they cast on you in the past few games 🤔

I see no changes in the team that played the last game unless someone is injured. This will leave Pakistan a bowler short which cost them last game, unless Talat will bowl some decent overs.

We have no options.. you wanna play Haris??? Be my guest brother... Let him in for Abdullah... Who will replace Babar???

Looking forward to this game. Let's hope it's not rain affected.

Hoping to see Saim score big. Also Abdullah- play fearlessly.

I honestly do not like games like these where the winner of the toss has a big advantage. However if there is no rain the toss may not matter as much. Windies played much better on Sunday and deserved to win. Rizwan and others made Moti and Chase look like world class bowlers :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
I think we should have won on Sunday but some extremely poor captaincy and poor bowling costs us. That's just my take and I have to be honest I only caught the last 10 overs or so live

Two dropped catches off Rutherford, Rizwan though difficult, Abrar much simpler was crucial as well. (y)

Unfortunately there is a 40% chance of rain after lunch. Hope it does not mean South Trinidad :( It would have been an interesting game if rain did not fall on Sunday.

Bro the target simply wasnt enough.

The thing with such totals is that even a single partnership will result in victory for the other team and 90% of the time one partnership is destined to occur per game as is the law of averages.

Its extremely rare for a test nation side to just collapse altogether.

Yes the batting was poor too... I think I mentioned that in the match thread...
But games can be won if there is something in the wicket by good captaincy and bowlers that have the slightest amount of IQ to be able to execute proper lines and length.

A couple of crucial bowling changes and the inability of the bowler to read the situation also cost us the game.

I'm sure if we were chasing and were 5 or 6 down with 6 runs an over, we would have pulled up short if the opposition was Australia, England or the Kiwis (I would India but don't want to :)

This has been mostly the case with Pakistan. Batting scores under par and then pressure is on bowlers to deliver.

rizwan: We want to bowl first but we don't care as we have momentum? What? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

i hope this is another case of poor english, otherwise 💀💀

Rizwan after loss=> weather is the problem
Before match after winning the toss=> doesn't matter batting or bowling

U have a great captain @Rana

Not sure about this call by Shai Hope to drop a bowler for an extra allrounder . Shepherd is not much of a bowler.

He is a better pick in a crucial game and can also clear the ropes in the latter stages of the game.
But takes away from bowling strength. Anyway, how are West Indies supposed to develop a seam attack for South Africa 2027 if they dont play them in these matches.

In my opinion Rizwan captained well in both matches but his poor batting meant Target was too low and team combination lacking one full time bowler cost Pakistan.

Good start by Windies. They gotta hope that this used pitch slows down and turns more in the 2nd innings.

With no Shaheen, the loose half volleys are not there. It is evident. Its keeping the runs down.

I mentioned my suggestions earlier based on the squad selection/injuries:

Rizwan out: Haris in

Babar out: Naseem in

Abdullah out: Fahim in

Abrar out: Sufiyan in.

I would open the batting with Saim & Mo. Nawaz as a pinch hitter or Haris

Salman Agha can easily bat in Babar’s spot, bring in Husain Talat at no.4 and Hassan Nawaz at no.5 who is clearly batting way too low. We start fast & don’t leave too much to do in the last 10 overs or so, Faheem, Haris/Nawaz & even Naseem would provide the lower order protection, I forgot to mention the great all round king that is Shaheen to who can smash a few at the end.

Even tied in a corner with injuries/selections, I’ve given the cricket public reason to watch this match, then subject the world to the torturous batting of Abdullah, Babar & Rizwan; what pleasure does one get from watching these three?

Full Passion?

Unfortunately we’re continuing with the same idiot batters though.

Yes I like that, my line-up was just based on who I wanted to see today and the available squad / injuries etc

The best thing about that top 7 is that it’s not rigid, all the performers would be flexible about where they come in to bat. We should go with these guys as the first choice and develop the bench without Babar, Rizwan & Abdullah - I rather watch paint dry.

Bish on commentary saying Shaheen had broken his elbow thrice during his childhood and is always in pain when he goes flat out.

First time in 7 years I've heard this.

This is a good line up and it would work against the smaller teams but due to being one bowler short, they will struggle against the big teams like Aus/Ind.

Saim/Agha cannot play as the 5th bowlers against the big teams, they will get hammered like the 2nd ODI.

I am shocked the strategy of going with part time bowlers isn't working. Only if we had seen it not work before...

Not having a genuine all rounder in Pakistan, unlike other teams, is making it difficult to have the right team combination.

Instead of financial funding, it would be better if big 3 or india invite WI like teams to their domestic list A competitions, so that these guys can learn how to play spin

Why Indian board does not allow its cricketers to play foreign leagues?
