New Zealand currently leads the points table with 127 points while India is in second position with 124 points

The West Indies and Pakistan square up for a four-match series starting in Bridgetown on Sunday with a chance to move up to third position in the MRF Tyres ICC T20I Team Rankings.

But for that to happen, either of the two teams, who will also be playing a three ODI series next month in a bid to boost their direct qualification chances for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, will need to dominate in the T20I series.

ICC World Twenty20 champion West Indies will move up from 116 points to 123 points if it wins all the matches while a 3-1 win will see it leapfrog third-placed South Africa, which is on 117 points.

On the other hand, former ICC World Twenty20 champion Pakistan could go up to 118 points and third position from its current sixth position with a 4-0 win while a 3-1 result will lift it to fourth position and 116 points.

New Zealand leads the points table with 127 points while India is in second position with 124 points.

Possible scenarios:

West Indies wins 4-0: West Indies 123, Pakistan 109
West Indies wins 3-1: West Indies 119, Pakistan 111
Series drawn at 2-2: West Indies 115, Pakistan 114
Pakistan wins 4-0: Pakistan 118, West Indies 108
Pakistan wins 3-1: Pakistan 116, West Indies 112

In the MRF Tyres ICC Rankings for T20I Batsmen, Marlon Samuels is the top-ranked batsman from either side in 19th position while Ahmed Shehzad (34th) and Shoaib Malik (37th) are the two leading Pakistan batsmen who will be looking to improve their rankings.

Both sides boast some leading names in the MRF Tyres ICC Rankings for T20I Bowlers as West Indies leg-spinner Samuel Badree is ranked third with 723 points but has to contend with Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Imad Wasim, who is just five points behind in fourth position.

Other leading bowlers in the series will include West Indies’ Sunil Narine (seventh) and Pakistan pace bowlers Sohail Tanvir and Wahab Riaz, who are ranked 36th and 45th respectively.

Good chance for Pakistan to grab the 3rd spot by winning 4-0,still they can achieve 4th by winning 3-1.

Definitely capable of winning 4:0. Just need to have a great first game, put the Windies under pressure and get some momentum. A motivated Pakistani team can go far in the CT as well.

I am glad that we are at least performing well at T20s of late. Let's see if Sarfraz can keep this team humming. While the T20I world cup is a while away, there is still lots of work to be done.

The T20 team was performing because we had Sharjeel and Latif opening the batting. There were a string of three or four matches where our number four batsman did not even get to bat.

This T20 side has Kami and Shehzad opening the batting for us and possibly Hafeez at one-down.

Good luck beating the Windies 4-0

Pak at best will draw the series 2-2. No way are they going to win this series even against a b grade west indies with their accumulators.

Both teams are good. It will be close with WI having advantage as it is their home ground. This will be good series.

There is absolutely no way Babar is batting below 3.

I think he will open.

Only reason Pakistan might win matches is because of our bowling, our batting is hopeless if the top 3 includes Shehzad, Kami and Hafeez.

Lol Kami and Shehzad haven't returned to sit on the bench. I think Babar will stay at 3.

Who said those two won't play?

Kami I think will bat at 3, while Shehzad/Fakhar (the latter only if we are lucky) will partner Babar up top.

Kami has performed as an opener so why put him at 3? He is stronger against pace that vs spin, so may as well use his strengths.

Because he batted at 3 in the PSL for the most part across both seasons.

His success this season was as an opener. He can make better use of the PP overs than Babar can.

Let's play to his strengths and see what happens.

Babar too succeeded as opener in the PSL.

Need someone dynamic at #3 and out of Shehzad, Kamran, Babar, Hafeez, and Fakhar I think Kamran fits the bill best.

Fakhar should open with Babar IMO.

I would go with Kamran and Fakhar as openers.
