BAN XI: T Iqbal, S Rahman, A Haque, M Haque, M Rahim, M Mahmudullah, N Hossain, T Islam, A Hossain, S Islam, R Islam

WI XI: L Johnson, K Brathwaite, K Edwards, DM Bravo, S Chanderpaul, J Blackwood, D Ramdin, J Taylor, S Benn, K Roach, S Gabriel

BD 31/1 vs Windies 380.

Windies were in trouble at 269/7 but Taylor and Best played some quick knocks to get them to a good total.

Chanderpaul with a typical gritty knock of 85*. Though it could be argued that he should have slogged with tailenders around him so that Windies could score even more.

Looks like they'll be following on again. Horrible batting.

Bangladesh have to be the biggest disappointment in cricket. They just never improve

It's been close to what 14 years already? Seem to be taking one step forward and 5 steps back. Feel for their fans tbh. Deserves way better than this cra@p.

WI will win this Test big again.

Nobody in Bangla seem to be talented enough to fight and score a century.

Mushfiqur wants to go home. The look on his face tells the whole story.

Bangla needs a great fast bowler and an excellent batsmen to compete against other Test Nations. Their current crop of bowlers bowling at lower 120's are not going to cut it at this level.

Al Amin is a good bowler, although he was reported recently. If he was to be banned their fast bowling would be very weak, bar Taskin who is only 19 and Mashrafe who is always injured

I'm sorry for our Bangladeshi friends on here but, they really need to get their Test status retracted. Teams like Ireland and Afghanistan deserve their chances too.

Roach has dropped a lot of pace .bowling low 130's.
Shannon Gabriel was fiery, upto 150 kmph but no movement, and couldnt get wickets

Jerome and Roach is a very good opening pair.

I think the Windies are on the road up.
Would love to see the Windies and Pak revive their cricket, particularly pace bowling. Test cricket is so dull nowadays except when SA or Aus is playing.

Gabriel has no control and he is not that pacy. He'll bowl some really fast ones but is not consistent. Taylor on the other hand is a beast, a true Windies quick.

I don't think Pak has a pace problem. Amir and Asif just aren't available.

If they were around Pakistan would have a strong pace attack so any claims that Pakistan isn't developing good fast bowlers are pretty ridiculous.

Amir will still take 400 test wickets

Asif isn't coming back. After Amir, there is nobody in domestic cricket as of yet who can pair with him. Wahab has decent pace, Irfan won't play tests anymore and the rest is history. Our domestic cricket has never been weakened to the extent it is today with so many teams.

Although I do think Windies will have a top 3 pace attack soon because they are getting back to work.

Pakistan should look at the Australian and South African systems and realise that a small top tier is the way to go.

If you have 6 teams like Australia and South Africa then it's roughly the best 100 players in the country making squads. So the standard is much better and you don't get as many players looking better than they are just be beating up on club standard cricketers

Mate, you've seen us play musical chairs with the chairman position. PCB has a bunch of clowns and it's directly related to our government. These crooks didn't listen to Pakistan's greatest cricketer in Imran when he insisted on duplicating the Aussie domestic system.

Our best bet would be if Imran's party comes in power, then we'll be seeing a similar system to shield cricket.

But what's with England's county cricket playing 18 teams. Even though, all of them are well managed, they will always produce mediocre cricketers with that many teams proven by their history.

England inherited their county system due to history. The counties are pretty much sports clubs but even then making it two divisions has shown some improvement.

Australia was lucky in that it inherited it's system from intercolonial matches.

South Africa had 12-14 teams but consolidated it by creating a level on top with the six franchises.

Otherwise as shown even in the well managed county system, too many mediocre players make it to the first class level. Countries like Pakistan especially which don't play enough tests and don't have many A-tours need first class cricket to be as close to international standard as possible

Where do most of Aussie fast bowlers come? Rural areas?

Pretty mixed but as with australian football, rural areas are overepresented in terms of population. Mainly because sport is the main entertainment option in smaller towns and cities

Rural NSW does very well.

Similar to the football population in US. Smaller towns and areas usually enjoy watching sports with some roughness because they grow up with hard work. Rural areas usually produce the country's best athletes.

Which shield team has the best fast bowlers or has a history with producing quicks?

New South Wales is the strongest state by any measure.

One it has the largest population, two it has sizeable regional centres and three it doesn't compete with Australian Football.

Many of the players playing for other states are from NSW.

Far fast bowlers these players are all from NSW
