A disappointing tour of England and a chance to start afresh and win the 4-match T20I series.

What XI should Pakistan go in with in the 1st game against the Windies?

They should test thier bench and play this team for the first 2/3 matches.Imad can swap with shadab for the last 2 matches.husnain needs to be given all five 5 matches.shaheen should rest all 5 games.
Sharjeel
Rizwan
Babar
Hafeez
Shoaib Maqsood
Azam Khan
Shadab
Hassan Ali
Qadir
Arshad Iqbal
Husnain

Unchanged team, it’s illegal to test your bench strength in Pakistan, otherwise the PCB will have to start adding more people into the yearly contracts.

If misbah is smart he should play the bench strength players so if/ when we lose he can say we was testing the fringe players to see who is capable of what etc and this takes pressure off him and the excuse is ready

Looking for Andre Russell's batting. That's the best exciting thing on the cards in a series that looks to be highly in favor of WI.

Good Luck to Pak bowlers. They will need it.

WI have several match winners , all power hitters .

Gayle , Pooran , Pollard , Hethmeyer , Russell all capable of winning games alone , I think WI likely to win 4 - 1

Can't wait. It's always a lot of fun watching Pakistan play.

Pak Cricket should be shown on the comedy channel:afridi No one telling me who is showing it in the UK and Europe?:(

That's disrespectful.

Hard to respect a team that has completely unfit players like Azam Khan and shows no improvement. Players like Azam belong in the WWE not a Cricket field:shhh.

Azam Khan is a flash in the pan. He'll be out of the team quicker than you can say good bye.

No one wants to see a successful Pak side more then I do. It does not take a genius to see that our players particularly our batsmen are lacking in quality.

Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is all-set for his first tour of the Caribbean and is eager to utilise the full range of deliveries in his repertoire when Pakistan take on the West Indies in the five-T20I series, which commences on 27 July.

Shaheen has been one of the most successful left-arm quicks in the format since his debut on 3 April 2018 against the West Indies at Karachi’s National Stadium and has emerged into a frontline bowler for the national side.

The 21-year-old has snared 31 wickets at 26.22 in 28 matches and is the second best left-arm pacer (in terms of wickets) behind West Indies’ Sheldon Cottrell (33 wickets at 21.69).

Considering the fast-paced nature of T20 cricket, Shaheen believes that slower deliveries play a crucial role in the success of a fast bowler and they will be an integral part of his plans throughout the five T20Is, which will mark the national side’s first assignment in the format in the Caribbean since 2017 when they won the four-match series 3-1.

Speaking to PCB on the sidelines of the national side’s training session, Shaheen said: “Considering the true nature of the pitches in T20Is, the pacers have to rely on variations to unsettle batsmen and get their wickets. One can even consider delivering two to three slower balls in an over.

“I do not shy away from using the slower balls. If the situation of the match demands and after reading a batsman, I will even bowl a slower ball in the first over. Understanding the conditions early on plays a vital role in deciding when and how one has to take the pace off the ball. As a bowler, one does understand how the conditions are – whether there is any swing in the air – after a couple of deliveries.

“T20 is fast-paced cricket and it keeps you on your toes. One needs to be quick in decision-making and correct in deciding when to bowl the slower ball.”

West Indies are the current world champions and the only side to win two T20 World Cups. Considering the fact that the hosts will be fielding a side that has players with vast experience gathered from various T20 franchise tournaments around the globe, Shaheen says that having strong plans and bowling in partnerships will be important.

“West Indies are considered to be a specialist T20 side. Their players play T20 cricket around the world and are familiar with most of the bowlers in the circuit. It can get a little tough to bowl at them, but having solid plans will help us.

“Bowling in partnerships is crucial. When the ball starts to reverse in the death overs that is where Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf come in. We have discussions with each other on when we need to take the pace off the ball or bowl quick.”

The five-match T20I series will be played across two venues – Kensington Oval in Barbados and Providence Stadium in Guyana – before Pakistan and West Indies lock horns in two Tests.

There was a particularly large women I noticed playing in the 100 the other day so there is a few like Azam out there

Wait what? Australia vs WI 3rd ODI is supposed to be played on 27th.

Or are WI playing two games simultaneously with two different squads?

Match postponed to 28th from the reports going around. Lets wait for the official word. Who is showing the match in india?

Maybe two different WI teams will play the different opponents.

Azam Khan is a flash in the pan. He'll be out of the team quicker than you can say good bye.

You may think I am joking but the way things work in PCB, IMO, Azam Khan is the future captain of T20 side.
Mark my words.

And it won’t be a very bad choice either.
If he can either lose weight or let his weight not overshadow his batting and fielding too much then I think he has the potential.

The reason is, he does not exhibit that chouthi jamaat fail type illiterate attitude. He is pretty confident and well versed in his speech and has a thick n heavy voice that seems intimidating, which is one of the essential characteristic of a leader.

If you are under confident and squeak like a clown, you cannot be an intimidating leader.

Azam Khan seems to have the potential of becoming a good leader.

Pakistan will reach nadir the day Azam Khan will be made captain. Pak cricket is already on that path.

Australia vs WI final ODI will take place on 26th, Pakistan vs WI 1st T20I will follow on 28th.

Rediculous to lose an entire game when it could've been easily pushed back

I haven't been anticipating our cricket matches since last year and a half. Was only excited by the test series against South Africa at home which was a good series for us. For last 5 years, there's hardly been a close fought series involving Pak. By close fought, I don't mean a 3-2 or 2-1 series but the matches themselves.

For last year and a half, I don't mean to say it's all Misbah-Waqar fault or Wasim Khan's, but our team has lost spine for quite some time now. Not just on the field, but off field as well. Now with a post ponement of an ODI against Australia, WI have just simply taken away one game from our series and PCB is like all is fine, we are warm hearted people.

We have been pushovers on the field as well.

The last good series that actually had competitive games was the England test series 2016 which apart from the 2nd test, was a very evenly fought one. Since then, WI series 2017 was a good one especially the last test. We had second test in the bag as well before capitulating 70 while chasing 180.

West Indies have a crazy batting attack. Pakistani spinners have to do really well.

Going for battering in this series. Too much t20 power and skills in this team.

We need to try a few different combinations. We will always win when total team clicks. May be rizwan at 3 and Maqsood at 4 is a better option with Hafeez and fakhar lower down the order.

Need to try utilise Sharjeel somewhere in this series. Also don’t know why Faheem mains strength t20 is being taken away by making him bowl long spells. He can replace the useless overs of Hasnain.

Next team should be

Sharjeel
Rizwan
Babar
Maqsood
Fakhar
Hafeez
Shadab
Hasssan
Imad
Faheem
Shaheen

This would be a better team.

1 Mohammad Rizwan
2 Babar Azam
3 Fakhar Zaman
4 Mohammad Hafeez
5 Azam Khan
6 Sohaib Maqsood
7 Shadab Khan
8 Hassan Ali
9 Usman Qadir
10 Shaheen Afridi
11 Haris Rauf

Misbah doesn't like Sharjeel and so is unlikely to play him, just like the last series. Most likely he is not going to change the opening combination. If he were to change it, it would more likely be Fakhar opening as he is resistant to playing Sharjeel.

Are you sure it's not going to be aired in India?
WI does run streams sometimes on their YT channel. Try that if you are interested in the games. I saw one for the Aus ODIs. I think it's for those countries where there are no broadcasting rights.

Good lineup. Would do couple of minor changes.
1. Swap faheem for another spinner Nawaz or qadir. Wi will slaughter faheen, and spin can be their weakness traditionally.
2. We know what Shaheen can do, rest him whole series if not 2 games. Play wasim Jr at least 2 games and Arshad iqbal 2 games.

Since marking his return to international cricket in January this year, Hasan Ali has demonstrated his ability to hit the ball out of the park many a time. He grabbed the attention of the fans and followers of the game alike when he deposited England’s Matt Parkinson in the stands at the historic Lord’s on three successive deliveries in the second One-Day International.

Hasan has smashed 14 sixes and as many fours in 15 international matches and averages above 21 in this timeframe, which is almost six runs more than his career’s, and is eager to continue to improve his batting skills to establish himself as an all-rounder.

Prior to his return to Pakistan colours after recovering from an injury, which kept him out of the international game for almost 18 months, Hasan made headlines when he scored a sparkling 106 not out off just 61, smashing seven sixes and 10 fours, to help Central Punjab to tie the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2020-21 against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He looks up to the legendary cricketers in former Test captain Wasim Akram, Abdul Razzaq and Azhar Mahmood to build his game.

Speaking to PCB, Hasan said: “I want to see myself as an all-rounder in all three format and I am putting in extra yards in the nets. I am inspired by Wasim Akram, Abdul Razzaq and Azhar Mahmood and want to contribute in crucial times for my team.

“I usually get to bat in death overs in T20Is and the only option I have at that point is to hit the ball hard. I am working to improve my power-hitting in the practice sessions and learning to how to score more and more runs against Yorkers, bouncers and slower deliveries.”

Hasan arrived in the Caribbean after impressive outings with the ball in England. He became the eighth Pakistan bowler to immortalise himself by making to the prestigious Lord’s honours’ board. He took five for 51 in the second ODI before bowling an impressive spell, in which he gave only 28 runs, in the last T20I.

“T20 cricket is all about variations and a good bowler should have command on bowling different variations. I have been practicing different deliveries in the nets and am very keen to do better in the upcoming series against the West Indies.

“I believe in giving everything for the team once I step in the field – whether it is by taking a wicket or hitting the ball out of the park.”

He should be with Mohammad Yousuf for about 6 months to develop into a decent, reliable batsman down the order with the capacity to accelerate when the time is right.

I can easily see him averaging excess of 20 across all formats if he can learn to take it easy, and negotiate pacers better whilst rotating strike.

He will be guaranteed a spot on the team if he can produce a few good runs with the bat, and I think he knows this as well. Faheem Ashraf is done, his chances in the T20 World Cup, much less white ball cricket, are over.

Personally, I'd have tried Amad Butt in a series just to see what he's capable of with the bat, even if he's just a slogger.

Hasan is also looking to cement his place in the team, and as an all-rounder, he will get much more lenience from the management like Faheem did, though Faheem never produced appreciable results in ODI cricket.

I think Pak under-utilized spin against Eng and economy numbers in both the whiteball series will endorse that as well.

Against WI not only their batsmen can sometimes struggle against good spin bowling but, their wickets usually have something for the spinners as well. WI has quite a few lefties in their top and middle order, so Hafeez needs to be utilized well by Babar.

No point in carrying Sharjeel around without him actually performing at this level since his comeback. So needs to be given these 4 matches I think to form an opinion whether he is part of the World T20 plans or not. Also need to try bench strength and different combinations in the series, other teams have been doing that while we are only going after a win which is not helping the development of bench and preparation.

Sharjeel
Rizwan (WK)
Babar
Fakhar (To keep left right combination going)
Hafeez
Maqsood (Got 3 matches at his favoured number but couldn’t go long so will have to adjust)
Imad
Shadab
Hassan
Wasim Jr/ Arshad/ Hasnain/ Rauf
Shaheen

Qadir bowled okish in one T20 vs Eng however, considering more role of Hafeez due to lefties I am not sure Pak needs 4 spinners in the very first match. Wasim Jr and Arshad need to be given opportunities to prove themselves for that 3rd pacer spot alongside Hasnain and Rauf.

It would be interesting to find out if they play on a used pitch given the ODIs that have been played at the Kensington Oval over the past week.

The quality of spinners on show could probably prove decisive to the outcome to this series. I'd rank the West Indian spinners as superior to their Pakistani counterparts.

Shadab really working on his variations of hairstyles as per the practice video with a new style. :smith

The pitches will suit Pakistan as it won't even a high scoring contest like the one in England . If it was a batting shoot out with WI on flat pitches then WI will win most of the times.

I would be surprised if Pakistan don't win series 3-1.

West Indies is very poor against spin.Even mediocre spinners like imad nawaz shadab would be too much for West Indies.

The eagerly awaited four-match T20I series between West Indies and Pakistan will begin at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on Wednesday. This will be the sixth bilateral T20I series between the two teams, Pakistan have dominated the West Indies with wins in four out of the previous five T20I series.

West Indies won the one-off T20I match between the two sides in 2011, Pakistan have held the upper hand since. Overall, out of 14 T20I matches, Pakistan have maintained a stranglehold with 11 wins and a mere three defeats. Of these, seven matches have been staged in the West Indies, with Pakistan winning five and losing two.

In the 2018 T20I series that was staged at the National Stadium Karachi, Pakistan won the three-match series, 3-0.

The last time the two teams played a T20I series on the Caribbean soil was in 2017 with the visitors winning the four-match series 3-1.

In the latest ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings, Pakistan are placed at the fourth-spot with 261 points while the Kieron Pollard led West Indies are placed seventh with 235 points.

In case of a clean sweep victory, Pakistan will jump to the third-spot with 263 points.

Amongst the batters, Pakistan captain Babar Azam is currently ranked number two while his opening partner, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan is ranked seventh. West Indies’ opener Evin Lewis is at number eight.

Fabian Allen, the West Indian left-arm-spinner is ranked number 10 among bowlers while Pakistan left-arm-fast Shaheen Shah Afridi is at the number 13 spot in the rankings for T20I bowlers.

Windies have just gone toe to toe with the Aussies, so they are battle ready.

I think Pakistan need to change and somehow find a space for Sharjeel and give him at least a full series.

Agreed. I also think Usman Qadir is a must in all games.

Crucially, need to win the 1st game or else can not see Pakistan winning the series.

Both coaches speaking in the series sponsors unveiling ceremony

Misbah-u-Haq

"West Indies is a very good team, especially in the shorter formats and are also the current T20 World Champions - they have experienced players who play in leagues throughout the world. Everyone is aware of the ability and power of these players as are we; We also know that we have to play top quality cricket if you want to win games against them"

Phil Simmons

"We have four games against one of the tougher teams in the world and no matter what format we play, we always have very good and competitive series against Pakistan so we are looking forward to where we are; As I said before the South Africa games that at the end of these games, we will know where we are from a gelling point of view and if we gel well, we are very hard to beat"

"There is a huge rivalry between our two teams but all it does is brings up the best of the game. One has to go back to some of the games like we had in Barbados against Pakistan with the likes of Dujon, Benjamin and others or to when we went to Pakistan and played some tough games - so the rivalry has always been there but the friendliness is also there with some good friends on both sides; We look forward to playing against each other and this series is no different; We are looking forward to playing against Pakistan and expect a tough and competitive series"

That's the thing, we are trying to change his mindset and It will never work.
Lets develop him more like he is now, lets work on his strengths, rather than weakness
He cannot develop into a defensive technically sound test like batsman, so lets stop focussing on this.

Give him exposure to LQ set up in Lahore where he should work for few months on bowling machines, hitting all sorts of lines and lengths across 360

Sharjeel and Rizwan should open

Babar at 3

what about
sharjeel & Fakhar
babar
rizwan
then Sohaib, Shadab, nawaz, Hasan Ali, usman qadir, Hasnain & Shaheen

ultimately Malik will replace Sohaib due to his bowling, batting against spin and fielding.

I would like if OP also starts to mention the channels who will broadcast this series in different countries. I am sure everyone will find it useful especially in the first match of the series. :inti

This is good as well but suggesting something like this in the Misbah era is blasphemy. For Rizwan fans he is the prodigal son of Pakistan cricket and no way will they accept him to be batting in a position that doesn’t suit him as an individual.

West Indies will be looking to close off their T20 International home series on a high when they take on Pakistan in the four-match Osaka Presents PSO Carient T20 Cup, starting today at 10 a.m. at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The T20I series will be the final international fixtures for both teams before finalising their squads for the ICC T20 World Cup and will represent the final opportunity for them to fine-tune their plans and build some momentum ahead of the mega event.

For the hosts, they are coming off a series of mixed results against Australia and South Africa. The hosts lost their five-match T20I series against South Africa 3-2 but bounced back with a 4-1 victory against Australia.

Heading into the final stretch of matches, West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard said that regardless of what transpired in the series before, “nothing is going to stop us from coming out with that enthusiasm and intent and intensity to win cricket matches.”

“We knew that the series would finish for us from a white-ball perspective, on the third of August so we are going to rally until then,” he added.

Meanwhile, West Indies coach Phil Simmons and his opposite number Misbah Ul-Haq are both expecting a tough series as they finalise their plans for the World Cup.

“We are trying to build towards something and we are trying to put together how we can play our best cricket and I am sure this Pakistan team will be trying to do the same, so I am sure that will auger well for good cricket over the next four games,” said Simmons.

The West Indies coach also noted that he was looking forward to measuring how far his team has come since the start of the home series and said at the end of the four games, he will have a better idea of where they are.

“We have four games against one of the tougher teams in world cricket for us. No matter what format, we always have good, competitive cricket against Pakistan, so we are looking forward to seeing where we are at,” said Simmons.

“As I said before the South Africa games, at the end of these games we are going to know where our team is from a gelling point of view and if we gel well, we are very hard to beat and that’s what we are looking at in this final series before the World Cup,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Misbah knows better than to underestimate his opponents. He noted that Pakistan will have to bring their best to compete against their hosts. “I think West Indies is a very good team, keeping in mind the shorter formats. They are the world champions and obviously they are a force in T20 cricket,” he said.

“They have players playing in different leagues across the world, so everybody knows that they have the ability and the power in the shortest format. We are aware of that, and we know we have to play top quality cricket if we want to win against them. We need to be right up there at our best to play against West Indies,” Misbah added.

The Pakistan coach also admitted that it will be challenging for the visitors to get wins and fine-tune for the World Cup, but he said their main focus is the World Cup.

“It is going to be a challenge and this is our last series before announcing the team for the World Cup. You want to win but at the same time you want to see all your resources and what your team will look like and what you want to take to the mega event, so hopefully we will look at both of our objectives and see what combinations we can play against the West Indies to serve these two objectives,” said Misbah.

The series moves to Guyana on Saturday for the remaining three matches. Pakistan will then travel to Jamaica for two Tests to close off the tour

This is good as well but suggesting something like this in the Misbah era is blasphemy. For Rizwan fans he is the prodigal son of Pakistan cricket and no way will they accept him to be batting in a position that doesn’t suit him as an individual.

Mate are you just a pure hater or did Rizwan steal your chocolates from you when you were a child.

Lets get some facts clear. Rizwan is no "prodigal son". He actually began opening in T20S in the New Zealand tour after Fakhar was ruled out due to COVID. Since then he absolutely has seized the opportunity and averages 80 odd with a SR of 130 plus. Prior to that he was floating in the middle order which one can argue is not a position.

The more Rizwan succeeds the more bitter people are getting and its hilarious. Its one of the moves Misbah and the management have made which has bolstered our top order,

There is no way he should move down the order. Fakhar is my favourite player and i would love him to open but not at the expense of Rizwan. Babar needs to move to 3 to give Sharjeel or Fakhar a run at the top.

Fakhar and Sharjeel looks mouthwatering on paper, but the reality is they both average 22 so its not like their stats are backing them to work wonders. This is not stick cricket.

Thanks for validating my point.

Rizwan has to open until Misbah and his poor management and tactics cannot make way.

The prodigal son is a team player, we have 2 decent batsmen in the whole country at the moment simple as that, and they both have to bat first. Once we have some more capable batsmen then by all means shuffle the order, but by capable i mean someone who can hold the bat for more than 2 overs not an overweight match fixer who hasn't even done anything in international cricket.

Fakhar is probably the closest we have to an explosive batsmen, other teams have 3/4 of these type of players, until then Rizwan and Babr are the best we have to open simple as that.

So just to confirm you want Rizwan who averages 80 this year with SR higher than 130 plus and several man of the match performances to boot, to drop down the order ?

It’s clear you have no idea of cricket or your blind hatred for Rizwan and misbah has taken over you to such an extent that you have become bitter and can’t appreciate the success of a player who does not tick your validation box .

I’ll end the discussion here . Happy bitterday!

Pakistan have genuinely sucked as a T20i team since Rizwan has been opening with Babar.

And please don’t cite examples of his performances against South Africa C team home and away.

That makes more sense.

If he can learn how to scoop the ball, and also develop good cut/pull shots, it will be beneficial.

Also, to combat a yorker, he should practice hitting behind the bowler.

He should also learn the reverse sweep against spinners, because I have seen that when the ball is pitched outside off, he fails to slog it towards the leg-side.

Rizwan opening has nothing to do with the bowlers being horrible.

None of his replacements will ever perform up to the level he has set.

Sharjeel can't run for his life, Fakhar is useless against the ball that moves away. Unless you're suggesting that players like Ahmed Shehzad make comebacks, I really don't understand how you think Rizwan is the problem with our team.

I'd back Rizwan to bowl better than Rauf more days than not.

We have only lost one series with Rizwan and Babar opening and that was against England who would have beaten us regardless whatever team we played.

Everything Rizwan does you find someway to down play it, however when it comes to the rubbish cricketers who you love to praise there is always an excuse to justify their pathetic performances.

If West Indies play to their potential and actually come out with the same spirit they had against Australia than I can easily see them winning against us.

Batting looks spot on and bowling is pretty good. Keep an eye out on Hayden Walsh. Guy bowled well against Australia and knowing how poor we are against spin he can easily be the difference this series

Pakistan is searching for an Impact player in the opening combination. I would like to see them trying
Maqsood at opening position he has looked in good touch and just need a good inning to get going.

what about
sharjeel & Fakhar
babar
rizwan
then Sohaib, Shadab, nawaz, Hasan Ali, usman qadir, Hasnain & Shaheen

ultimately Malik will replace Sohaib due to his bowling, batting against spin and fielding.

Then you have no big hiters in the lower order if Babar and rizwan play at 3 and 4 imagine Pakistan being at 100 for 1 and expecting Babar and Rizwan to hit from ball one.
