What's new

"We've had information from foreign players & their agents BCCI's pressurising them to not play KPL"

I think you are struggling to understand that moral stands are not about convenience. They are about staying true to what you believe in...if that is what you actually believe in. When you talk about taking a moral stance by not playing someone and then go ahead and pick and choose where you want to play them and where you don't want to play them than that makes you a hypocrite.

If BCCI is looking for convenience than they should stop taking these sanctimonious 'moral stands' because all they really do is project their hypocrisy.

Thats your opinion. You can have it. Doesn't mean BCCI has to follow it.

Its very clear on BCCI's part that the aim is to protest against pakistan and not to make things easy for PCB.

No!
Because the PCB didn't threaten the Aussie players with refusal of work visa's if they went ahead and played against India wearing army hats or whatever it was.

Besides its like comparing apples with oranges. The ICC has rules on politicising the game and even the ECB asked Moeen Ali to stop wearing an arm band in sport of Kashmiri's. In this instance the BCCI threatened foreign players from participating.

Like I said in previous post, if you really can't see it for what it is then I can't help you.

You dont have to help me in anyway but can debate.

The reason PCB didnt threatened Aussies bcoz it is not in a position to do so. Hardly any Aussie goes to Pakistan and earn money from PCB.

The point is PCB back then felt it was political and complained to ICC. In your own words, a strong & secure nation should look past these things but Pakistan clearly didnt on that occassion. If its ICCs rule not to politicize things, it could have been left to ICC to take action. Not sure why PCB needed to jump the gun.

Just like PCB back then, BCCI also felt KPL is politicizing cricket and reached out to ICC. But since KPL is not international cricket or under ICC, they cant take any action. So BCCI made a rule that if you play in that league, you cant then come to India and earn money from Indian cricket.

Still struggling which point you are not able to understand. Why one rule for one and different for other?

Sport is played on land which is under government regulation. You can keep living under a utopian "sport is sport" concept but its not free from human issues. And keep calling me names, it only reflects on you. Not on me

Actually I am more then willing to accept that an alternative view exists, the non utopian one..
However, its really sad that extremist right wing beliefs have entrenched themselves in every aspect including sports. Arrh well, lets see where this all leads us.

See it comes down to this "we have the power' business.

Let me be clear with you now. This is my position. If the PCB/ECB/ACB or any other board did what India just did I would be astounded by their actions and if the PCB or ECB did something like this I would be hugely embarrassed

But that is just me and thankfully I know I'm not alone on this.

It's not an opinion, its a fact. And BCCI's contradictory actions are a testament of that very fact.

Great quality to give opinions about people and organizations without knowing them..keep it up

Why not? When certain things about them are so patently obvious its doesn't really matter if you know them personally or not.

Afaik its not a contradictory for the BCCI, they believe this the best way to protest and make things difficult for PCB.

Regardless of what they think or believe, their official position is what matters because that is what is in the public eye.

The only way India/BCCI can degrade themselves any lower than this KPL debacle is by refusing Pakistan to play in WC hosted in India.

Come on Modi, you can do this! 20K is all it took to conquer India!

I think it is the lowest of low to give an importance to a no name league in Kashmir which even most of the Pakistanis didn't know about. The richest cricket board BCCI could have ignored it easily but they wanted to play politics on it. Who knew about KPL anyway? Why did BCCI took the KheloAzadiSe tagline personally? It looks like a low quality league to me. :inti

Well that surprised nobody. When you have the BCCI essentially having a monopoly over cricket than this is what’s going to happen for the decades to come. I blame the ICC for this non sense.

In the 80s, 90s and early 2000s cricket could have been expanded and made into a global sport with much more coverage instead of a sport played by solely ex British colonies. Their were opportunities to expand cricket into Latin America, Africa and parts of Asia however the inept ICC failed to do any of that and instead kept the status quo

Now we are seeing the BCCI controlling essentially all facets of cricket. Soon enough crickets just going to become like basketball. A league based sport where players care more about playing for random franchises than their own country

Let's see if PCB gives NOCs to their contracted players.

At the moment even the players don't know if they will get an NOC for the KPL.

Gibbs on the way.

I think PSL franchises would have played a role to have certain exclusivity associated with their brand so doubt we will see much of the centrally contracted players. Still quite a few stars would be part of it which should be able to achieve the required results.

Well done Gibbs. A man of principles who will not be bullied with a few rupees.

Bhai, history suggests he had no principles.

History is history. We are not judged by history but by the present.

Gibbs could have made millions of rupees in Bollywood cricket but because he was pressured, he chose not to bow down to bullies.

It shows money is not the God of everyone.

Gibbs now in Pakistan to participate in the league.

Gibbs has given a tight slap to BCCI

That's because his family is not being held as virtual hostages by BCCI.

If he had friends and family there, I can tell you he would not be in Pakistan.

Is he playing in this league for free only for the love of Kashmir?

If we are to understand this right, he has now given up untold riches in the IPL etc for this so probably yes to your question.

Also since he doesn't have his family being held to ransom in India, he can make this decision with ease and move on.

I noticed Shoaib Malik is playing, he doesn’t seem concerned given his wife is Indian and his in-laws are probably all living in India.

Good point - let's see GOI aka BCCI have anything to say about it.

He's playing because he is a real man who will not bow down to bullying for a few Indian rupees.

Effigys of Gibbs will be seen burning soon I assume.

In todays world one has no excuse for remaining ignorant.

I urge our Indian brothers to put away the bias and spent only 30 mins watching vids of Azad Kashmir. Then spend 30 mins watching videos of conditions in Indian occupied Kashmir.

After this you will be able to work out why the BCCI and GOI got into a twist about foreign players going.

Its easy to posture online but if you really want to learn, be open minded and take a look.

The same Gibbs that these guys cheered on during the IPL is now being called low integrity and a fixer lol

They will twist and turn and slip and slide forever.

Kashmir is one of the most beautiful parts of the world. Bollywood has had to resort to filming in Switzerland to replicate the majestic scenes of older films before the rise of the BJP party.

Kashmir has been a big loss to the world for tourism. Let's hope that KPL will go some way to redressing that in some way.

exactly, this is what Monty said very clearly in his message, which Indian Media was twisting as slap on KPL

If I were in Gibbs place, I would make sure to squeeze every last bit of it and secure my future. There's hardly any competition in this political saga. So it will be an easy cash.
