Harbhajan Singh’s fiery reaction has become the dominant talking point after South Africa sealed a shock win over India on a Kolkata pitch that barely lasted two days. Calling it a “mockery of Test cricket” and declaring #RIPTESTCRICKET, Harbhajan questioned how a match of this stature could be virtually over before the second day had even finished. His criticism has reignited the debate around India’s recent surfaces, especially after an unpredictable track, full of sharp sideways movement and uneven bounce, turned a marquee Test into a low-scoring lottery.

South Africa, however, made the most of the chaos, pulling off their first Test win in India in 15 years by defending just 123. Temba Bavuma’s gritty half-century, Simon Harmer’s masterful spell, and Marco Jansen’s hostile bounce exposed the pitch’s dangerous behaviour and India’s muddled tactics. As India collapsed for 93 without injured skipper Shubman Gill, questions over pitch preparation have intensified, and Harbhajan’s blunt assessment now echoes across the cricket world.

"I believe the curator was very supportive. This is exactly the pitch we were looking for. This is exactly what we wanted
— Gautam Gambhir on the pitch at Eden Gardens"
surely not the pitch Test cricket wanted....

Yes, Gautam lets have the exact same pitch one more time. Hope SA win the toss as well.

To be fair to him he's been vocal about the extreme indian pitches in the past too

It was a pitch which was assisting not just spinners but seamers also. So, basically a graveyard for batsmen. In past, we have seen pitches helping spinners a lot more where it starts to turn from Day 1.

If India had won, it would've been a good competitive pitch that tests batsmen. India lost so it's now a "mockery of test cricket". Embarrassing and predictable simultaneously.

"Thank you Mr. curator for digging our grave, just like we told you to"

I doubt Chucker would be saying that if he was still an active player and was playing on these pitches.

Can we expect the same kind of comments from him on the current pitch of the 1st test between England and Australia where 19 wickets fell on day 1...??????????

I think indian batsman should be able to handle turning pitches well. They have played enough on these turning pitches, don’t really understand why there hasn’t been a solution or a way found out of scoring runs yet on these pitches
