You can't really do anything. You can ban them for a year, but at the end of the day they will take that because the money they make in one IPL season is probably far more than they will make in even two seasons of PSL. That's something you will have to deal with when running head-to-head with the IPL, because no rational cricketer can be expected to say no to an IPL deal over a PSL deal.

Someone getting 5 carores here, can make 20 carores in Ipl. So if u ban him for 3 seasons, he would not have issue, as he has already made the money to bare the ban.

Plus, there are many other leagues to make up for the lost money. A player we ban, would only be effective if that player also doesnt get an ipl contract.

It could be IPL PSL BBL BPL CPL or others...... because IPL has the most money players naturally will prefer to go there as the quality of cricket will be a bit higher aswell. This was always going to happen when you decided to go H2H with the IPL.

That October/November window is actually pretty good for PSL

Why don't the IPL and PSL franchises sign some sort of trade or partnership agreement ie an IPL franchise requests a psl franchise to release a player because of injury, loss of form and an IPL franchise agrees to release a foreign player sitting on the bench or they are not interested in giving playing time too, that player can get much needed game time in Pakistan?

If both leagues are going on at the same time and the PSL has accepted its place as a junior subsidiary league to the IPL then why not get some sort of co operation trade player exchange agreement in place? I am sure smart people involved can structure this very well in a win win formula

Let's be honest, if you signed a contract for $100,000, the penalty for breaking the contract is $100,000 at most and in a few days another employer makes you an offer of $800,000-$1,000,000. What will you honestly do?

If Pakistan is being realistic they should just ignore and move ahead with whatever players they can secure and try to install PSL as domestic giant. Clashing with IPL shouldn't be happening. Seperate window with good quality players would serve PSL well. Soon many Players will be becoming T20 mercenaries around the world. Take them in, build a good foundation for quality cricket and everything will follow. Patience is key which I find lacking amongst Pakistan administrators

This is actually a good idea and probably should be implemented across leagues, although I’m not sure of the precise shape and form.

Unfortunately I don’t see the IPL signing it with PSL- too much of a power imbalance, probably too much arrogance.

July August is unbearably hot humid to play in Pakistan. I visited Pakistan from Canada during these months and struggled in the heat, humidity and was forced to drink a lot of fluids, sodas when outside and forced to take 3-4 showers daily. Can't imagine how tough it will be for players to play cricket in this weather at that time unless the PCB holds the games really late at night ie from 8 pm onwards and expands the league to the coolest areas of Pakistan ie Quetta, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit Baltistan, Abbottabad etc but that will ruin the home and away concept. Plus the PSL will be clashing with the vitality blast, cpl, hundred at that time.

PCB should experiment with a September to November window for the PSL and regig their FTP. In any case even in the IPL window, the ECB has refused NOC's for their centrally contracted players and we aren't able to attract the current Australian super stars.

PCB also needs to take the PSL overseas and tap into the Pakistani Diaspora in Canada, USA, England, Australia, New Zealand e.t.c. You don't have to hold the entire PSL outside Pakistan but why not experiment with a few exhibition games, holding the playoffs and finals outside Pakistan?

I've read Shanaka was getting 75 lakh in PSL and replaces Sam Curran who gets 2.4 crore...... Assuming he gets the same being a replacement still a lot more plus league is higher in quality in terms of overseas players.

Supporting a Scottish football team and watching a player about to sign only for a random English club step in and offer more money. There is no limitation on players available worldwide so just bring in an alternative and give them an opportunity instead.

With too many leagues everywhere and international duties, if someone gets released for any other reason except medical should have clause that couldn't sign in ANY league for 90 days... this is called "no compete clause".
It's kinda like WWE vs WCW at this point right now and all they are doing is poaching talents.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has promised to take legal action against players who have left the PSL for the IPL at the last minute, with the two leagues clashing for the second year in a row.

Sri Lanka's Dasun Shanaka has become the second player to do so, opting out of Lahore Qalandars' roster to replace the injured Sam Curran for Rajasthan Royals at the IPL.

Australia allrounder Daniel Sams will replace Shanaka at Qalandars. Blessing Muzarabani had already pulled out of the PSL after securing an IPL deal with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

"We will take action against those players according to the rules," Naqvi said on Sunday. There was a case last year too [Corbin Bosch, who was banned from the PSL for one year], and the same thing will happen this time.

"Bosch was a diamond pick for Peshawar Zalmi last time but he made a late switch to play for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

"Clashing with the IPL is not an issue because if players are going there, we're getting excellent players coming here as well. We could not afford to postpone the PSL because we have no other window all year.

"There have also been other withdrawals this PSL, with Gudakesh Motie, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Ottneil Baartman and Spencer Johnson among those pulling out, though most of them have cited personal reasons.

The PSL is set to start on March 26, two days before the IPL kicks off across the border. The PSL will be played behind closed doors, however, Naqvi announced on Sunday, because of an oil crisis amid the West Asia conflict. The venues have also been trimmed from the original six to just two: Lahore and Karachi.
