What are some of the unique attributes of Karachiites?

Is it easy for other Pakistanis to identify Karachiites abroad? What are some of the attributes?

I come across many Pakistanis here in NA. Mostly from Punjab and KP. Most are very good at guessing that I'm from Karachi. Not sure what it is. It's not the language since we mainly speak English. I also don't do paan or ghutka.

its the Urdu accent, if you talk in urdu. whats amazing is the urdu speakers can observe other accent (punjabi,pushto etc) easily and can make conversation after doing some work on others language. but it cant be said for other language speakers.

But see I’m lighter than the average Karachiite. In fact, have been confused by Karachiites as being from KP.

So definitely not that.

Its definitely the urdu. In my opinion people from Karachi speak more pure urdu and also speak softly.

Really? I thought it was a diverse city? Does New Yorker = Italian for most of us Americans?

Diverse doesn't mean it doesn't have a majority ethnicity . Does USA =/= white people for most of the world?

I have had friends from both Lahore and Karachi. I must say I find Karachi ones a bit more polite. My best friend is from Karachi.

We ve our own slang Urdu in khi, which is unique to the city. Also in terms of cuisine, language and taste Khi is different from the rest of Pakistan (probably because of the high % of Muhajir population, who brought in more indian (not necessarily Hindu) cultural influences.

I remember when i went to Lahore the first time (many moons ago), i was surprised that they didnt have Pakola, Shahi Supari and Briyani readily available. May be things are different now.
Also as soon as i spoke, lahoris could immediately recognise that I was from Karachi.

Their way of speaking Urdu is quite distinct. You notice it right away.

Other than that, I haven't seen anything unique here in Canada. Everything else is pretty much the same. I'm sure you end up getting a watered-down version of each city in Western countries.

Its soft and fluid. I guess it's because its their first language unlike the rest of Pakistan where they learn it in school.

There are a few sub-accents of Khi Urdu. Its difficult to explain but those living in Karachi will know what I mean. It’s probably a bit derived from where in India the people migrated from iyswim.
