What can be done about UAE pitches?

I am a little sick of hearing things like "well that's how the pitches in UAE play"

Also heard, one of the comms saying that the heat was a major factor in the way these pitches turn out.

But then there is also extreme heat in Australia etc

My point is, given all the soil technology available today, can the nature of UAE pitches be changed for the better?

I Guess it has also todo with the soil underneath the pitch. as UAE is mostly a region with alot of sand Its hard to get that natural hardness and yes heat is also a factor.

I remember reading once that the soil and grass ect for the uae grounds are also from some other country

Go all out and prepare rank turners, if possible.

You may lose Tests and the odd series, but at least the cricket would be enjoyable.

Not like there will be a big loss of money from tickets and tv.

Who has the ability to sit through the snooze fests we currently see?

then why not import soil etc? To me it seems that the powers that be have just given up on these venues and whilst they may be getting some return in the short term - the longer term damage to Pakistan Test cricket is unacceptable.

they make West Indian pitches look like old Trafford worst pitches in world

Read some of MMHS posts. He can answer this question very well.

UAE weather won't allow to do much. If you replace whole layer of the field soil still you can't maintain it's quality for long term. Within a year it will act the same as before. So,actually nothing more can be done.

If relaying the pitch is to be done before every season then that's what we need to do.

Only play tests in December/January in uae when weather a bit more colder and produce green tops against Asian teams. Only practical solution to this boring cricket.

That's an important point. The 2012 series vs England was played in January and February when the pitches had a bit more moisture as conditions were cooler making the pitches more sporting.

The matches were a much better spectacle as a result. In late September/October these pitches are as dead as the dodo.

These pitches aren't under the jurisdiction of the PCB.

Beg to differ.

PCB has a HUGE role in keeping DSC afloat as an international venue and have a good relationship too

Yeah exactly. Tests in December would be much better.
