The Supreme Court rejected on Monday a contempt petition against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif regarding noncompliance of court’s orders in the out of turn promotion case.

A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, was hearing the contempt of court petition filed by ‘habitual petitioner’ Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi against the deposed premier, Express News reported.

During the hearing, the chief justice asked about the charges being framed against the accused. “What do we have in the case against Nawaz Sharif? Did he issue out of turn promotions?,” he questioned.

“Mian sahib is no one now, so what actions can be taken [against him],” he was quoted as saying.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan commented that the case had become ineffective under the current circumstances.

The top court had dismissed similar petitions by the same person and Advocate Sheikhul Hasan earlier this month.

Nawaz, who has been disqualified as the prime minister and barred from heading his own faction of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) by the Supreme Court, has repeatedly said that criticising the court’s decisions on his disqualification was his and his party’s constitutional right.

The deposed PM had said last week that he respected all institutions but the top court’s decision was unacceptable to him and the entire nation.

His daughter Maryam Nawaz has also been very vocal on the issue, saying that slapping a contempt of court on Nawaz is a “contempt of vote” of all those who voted for the party.

He is a nobody now that parti agree but sorry chief justice sahab just because he is disqualified as PM and President of party that doesn't mean he should be allowed to insult courts and judges and other institutions. Action should be taken against him in recent past Altaf Hussain picture and voice was removed from media on court order when he tried to insult institutions.

Musharraf ruled Pakistan for 10 years had all the powers as dictator and army chief but in the end had to go and now he is a nobody sitting outside the country and people don't even give any important to his statements. Same Nawaz Sharif was a nobody when Musharraf was leading the country and Nawaz was sitting outside. Benazir on the other hand still was important and was making headline news while sitting outside the country and had a great welcome when she returned back home twice but NS on the other hand was waiting for his workers to arrive and receive him lol nobody was showing face

Because his party is ruling bhai jab power main ho to dictator ki party ke sath be itne he log hote hen you can judge support when the party isn't in power. Nobody was coming on road for same NS when Musharraf was in power while Benazir was still enjoying great support.
