- Department Cricket will definately come back

- A new CS

- A new foreign head coach

- A new captain

- High chances that the likes of Sharjeel Khan, Mohd Amir, Imad Wasim could come back

- Potential roles for Rashid Latif, Shoaib Akhtar, Moin Khan, Shahid Afridi in Pakistan Cricket

- PJL and the planned Pakistan Women's League will be scapped

Make Shahid Afridi our coach…imagine youngsters being backed and given confidence even after repeated failures.

If Brendan can do it, so too can lala

I don't think there'll be much opportunity for deep, systemic changes as 2023 is an election year. This setup may not last long.

There'll likely be a change of captain, coach and chief selector though, and not a moment too soon.

Play the WC in India and the Asia Cup in Dubai. He will be a "yes" man.

Joke of the century

How, you’d rather have a coach who’s timid, with a defensive mindset that doesn’t back the players to play their natural game, over someone who will back the youngsters, play attacking cricket and take responsibility for defeats.

Afridi is the perfect man for the job.

Why do I get the feeling that the guy Tanvir Ahmed might not be the worst choice to be one of the selectors for red ball cricket?

I wouldn’t involve him in white ball cricket but he might be a good choice for Test only

We should be stripped off our board status for government interference, governments should never be involved in running sports board... I am honestly not in keen for Najam Sethi.

Saqi is impactless and his time is up. Most of the team selected will be the team that would be selected by Wasim, but with opportunity for a couple of new faces. Only Shaan could replace Babar as captain but if he doesn't score when his own place is uncertain, what then. Leave Babar alone and get him a mentor to talk about ideas about captaincy. As Sethi will find quickly, it's easy to be a political toute for the mafia but making real decisions is much more difficult

The father of PSL returns. Let’s see how this pans out. Plenty of complaints were seen on here during his regime as well.

A simple musical chairs of chairmen with dodgy credentials is not what’s going to make us top tier.

I've suggested a few things to him:

A new white ball skipper
A kick up the rear of a few players who I won't name
New selection committee
Separate and new red ball and white ball coaches
Looking at a foreign coach to take over at least one of the coaching roles

What about new red ball skipper? Surely this year has proven that Babar ain't up for the job....

I would also add adding a position Director of Cricket similar to the role Rob Key is playing?

If the PCB were to bring back the departments, then they need to keep them seperate from the regional side. Don't have tournaments where the departments and regional are playing together

If reaching the Asia Cup and WorldT20 final is “impactless” then what is impactful??

Thousands of cricketers will be employed again which will essentially be the beginning of the end of our cricket.

Wow what a prediction

If only we employ 200 in 6 teams….and then somehow lose 4 Tests in a row at home

PSL project work was done by Haroon Lorgat and Salman Sarwar it wasnt that imposible. They only managed to bring mostly discarded foreign players to Dubai at that time. Its value was wrongly assessed by third party consultation they gave the media and title rights cheaply. Even the big franchise went cheap.

Wasim is the one who brought all top teams to Pakistan without giving any extra payments. He also brought the PSL back in Pakistan.

The reason why Pakistan lost 3 tests to England was because:
1) this was the weakest Pakistan team ever to play a home series.
2) this was the strongest England team ever to tour Pakistan

This has nothing to do with the damn employment of cricketers.

The unemployed cricketers represent the worst cricketers of Pakistan and would not have made a penny difference.

Exactly. Anybody who thinks that rubbish setup was good needs their head examined.

Departments is a bad idea. But this ***** and his master still live in the 20th century. Bringing shakil sheikh back hell just make iqbal qasim the chief selector. This is a disaster for Pakistan cricket.

Pakistan's great charity project - Departmental cricket.

First thing first. Don’t hire Misbah. Send him to business industry where he can do something with his degree. Second bring in a foreign coach

Personnel changes, but besides that cricket will be used for political point scoring which is has been now ever since Imran Khan came into power.

Besides the personnel changes things will remain the same. We will be an overrated team and in the long run there wont be many changes. I have realised over time sports is where corruption is at. It is probably easiest to do corruption in sports. Plenty of money with very little accountability. That is why Sharifs need their own man at the helm of things as well.

There is no hope. We will continue to surprise against the odds. But there is nothing now. Its over. Don't be surprised if we go the way of hockey at some point. The only thing presenting that is that kids will see cricket as a possible way out of the grinding poverty and disaster the bajwa and the shareifs have inflicted on this poor nation.

Bringing back these corrupt **** is a disaster of epic proportions. I cant stress enough to the younger members of this forum. When we were your age on this forum we saw rhe mess and the strife. It was a miracle at times this team managed to even play a match.

We finally had a vision some planning and these **** have thrown it in the bin. Its a complete joke. The country is a joke. The cricket will now just stagnate. I cant see any light at the end of the tunne. To achieve real success you have to make hard decisions. But showbaaz is a coward and ao is his big brother. Sethi is lickspittle and a coward too..Good bye Pakistan cricket. It was good while it lasted. God help you all.

.

To those who toured Pakistan after decades

That’s what they thought about the new regime and system. That it’s heading in the same direction as hockey

Well yu got the old one back now that was garbage. And proven to be the case. Enjoy the stagnation and disaster that is about to befall you. You have no idea what's coming.

It takes bravery and time to change things..you are lead by cowards and cowards run away from the fight..just remeber that..

Being unbiased, i think Ramiz and co had a good long term vision but in the short term some of their decisions were not good. At the very least Najam might bring us some short term gains with better coaches and selection.

two things please.

- Don't bring back Misbah and Waqar in any capacity.
- Sack Babar I would have a blind monkey as captain over him.

The Lord is the Sovereign

He is the Provider

Who are we to question his ways of Providing for his creation?
The Lord also asks for actions to be made with the best of intention.
These changes are purely political points scoring.

In 2 years time, we’ll be trying to salvage our white ball hopes by recalling Ahmed Shehzad.

A system doesn’t get better, if the players you’re reintroducing are the most journeyman of journeyman. It’ll only make less good cricketers look better. You think the likes of Mohammed Ali aren’t ready for cricket now? In the departmental cricket, a Mohammed Ali would be like Wasim Akram, because the batsmen he’ll be bowling to, will be atrocious. how does that positively benefits Pakistan cricket?

Let’s talk in three years, when nobody comes out of this specific system.

If reaching the Asia Cup and WorldT20 final is “impactless” then what is impactful??

Winning the actual final. On both occasions the team threw away the match from winning positions. We need to stop being satisfied with 2nd place. Hold the team accountable for not going all the way.

Short term decisions can be dealt with. That's why they are short term. But of you lack a real long term vision you are finished. Sethi and his cronies know nothing. They are the same gen that has made a mess many times over. Its all favours and adhocism.
England have literally changed the game and we like others will be playing catch up which would have been ok as ramiz and Co knew this

Sethi doesn't know cricket. He doesn't understand it. He thinks He does but doesn't. He has already made his first mistake. Which shows He has no clue.

We are done. Forget the next three years. Hell the damage will be lasting if this regime continues.

They have no clue. No plan nothing just to look after their perks..remeber Sethi was a known ghadaar from the 70's. I expect nothing now. You can hope and do all that and that's great but I won't.

In three years we will be wondering what the he'll we are gonna do now that the domestic game is a disaster full of journeymen and bribery.

Maybe that is the next step..

But we had been booted out in the group stages in the last Asia Cup and in the 2014 / 16 WorldT20 so it is a significant improvement.

Be grateful for where we are today because it can be significantly worse (as it was from 2014-18 barring the CT trophy win..)

Afridi is the perfect man for the job.

The only problem with Afridi is that not only is he aggressive but also brainless.

Stop derailing threads.

This thread has a specific topic - stick to it.

Will Umar Akmal come back to limited overs cricket? I think he could be a T20 opener and one down bat in ODI.

I fully expect a return to corruption and ******** culture where knowing the right people will be more important than talent. Expect guys like the Akmals, Ahmed Shehzad, Azam Khan, etc, to be regulars in the team while we struggle to compete against Associate teams.

Salman Butt should be given a role . I know he has tainted past , but when you picked Amir , Salman should be given a chance , He is someone who can do something.

Introduce more A tours and under 19 tours for players , so that players get chance to play in different conditions.

Create a bigger pool of players for all the formats .

Have incentive for Test cricket for players .

Try and get better coaches , need not be big names , even someone from some county , someone who can do the job , is good tactically.

Change in coaching setup

There’s a rumor that PCB is trying to get either Justin Langer or Mickey Arther as head coach.

Agreed but then again we are a country who is grown through jugaar and stop gap solutions. Its how its always been. And somehow our cricket atleast at one point in time still managed to thrive. Sports in general have many elements. A bit of luck sometimes is all u need to win big tournaments.
