What's new

What do you make of Recep Tayyip Erdogan pushing migrants towards Europe?

It is counterproductive. It may make things worse.

I am a big Erdogan fan but I think he shouldn't do this.

I don't think he is pushing them, just not preventing them any more as per the agreement he struck with European leaders. Syrians from Idlib are pouring into Turkey due to the Syrian regime offensive against their own people, that needs to be stopped and then Erdogan can hopefully re-establish the buffer zone to accomodate the refugees on our behalf.

I have read that Bulgaria has sent their army to prevent Syrian refugees to cross over to their country.

Hope Syrians stay put and no one dies in this situation.

He isn't pushing anyone. It's not like he's helping them cross the neighbours' borders.
He's just letting them leave Turkey's border after that it'll all on the individual

there are reports that they are rounding the refugees up and making it difficult for them to stay in turkey. going back to syria is not an option. so only option is towards europe. For months erdogan has warned and threatened the europeans with unleashing the refugees on them.He is using them as a pawn to get his way. let's see how this develops.

Turkey has one of the world's highest refugee populations, so Europe sharing the burden can't be a bad thing. During the World Wars, people from Europe especially the East and South migrated in hordes all over the world when the going got tough. Besides recent history, there's even older historical migrations from Europe to the middle east during the Roman and Greek times.

Agreed. However this is not the way to go about it. He is acting like a thug

Sending migrants to Europe has one concern. Many may try to go to Europe in small and unsafe boats. Hundreds can die in the sea. It has happened before.

Also, not sure how local European population will react. Will they be more agitated? We have already seen some far-right attacks.

This Syrian war needs to end badly. I quite feel bad for these migrants.

I make of it, he is only sending them to nations who have been so concerned of them.

It wasnt Turkey who stated Assad is killing his people so we must save those people like heros.

It was the western nations who sent bombs to free children even if those bombs killed more. Im sure they will allow those same people in with open arms.

What is the issue here? Nada.

What do you want him to do? Europe is not helping Turkey against Russian/Iranian axis. Why should he then follow their orders and help them guard their borders. Turkey has already 3 million refugees and they are saving about the same amount in Idlib. Inshallah things will get better for them since many Assadists are drying in Turkish strikes along with destroyed armor.

He has serious issues. He thinks he is some sort of saviour. A proper nutjob!

He isnt sending anyone. Just that he isnt stopping them.

The European countries must now use their own resources to stop these refugees from entering their borders.

Europe is in no mood to go to war with Russia just for the sake of Erdogan stopping refugees from reaching their borders.

European nations are not keen to take any refugees and will push the refugees back.

What if Turkey doesn't stop the refugees and Europeans don't take the refugees? It can create a messy situation. I have a feeling innocents are going to die.

This civil war is like a bad nightmare that has no sign of ending anytime soon.

Looks like Jihadis are trying to enter Europe from Turkey.

Greece should be careful to let these guys in. These invaders are seen shouting Allahu Akbar and pelting stones on Greek Soldiers. What a way to seek asylum.

This is why we in the western alliance should be helping Erdogan to protect Idlib from the Russians and their proxies from Iran and Syria. For us it is better if these annoyingly handsome jihadis, stay in Syria and live in their beloved Islamic state of Syria. We do not want them flooding over here and radicalising the youth in the west.

This perfect, you can't just have the best of both worlds you need to support turkey or let tham come in

Won’t be surprised if they are hired by RT to do this. Russia will fall to any level.
