What in the world: No Mohammad Abbas for the first Test vs Australia?

Right decision to bench Mohammad Abbas for the first Tests?

I get the feeling Abbas, Imran, Shaheen, and Yasir will be the bowling attack for the 2nd test.

Looks like he will back for the 2nd Test. Azhar:

"We'll announce the team tomorrow. Everyone is available for selection. There will be some changes. Mohammad Abbas will be one of them"

"Mohammad Abbas is a seasoned FC campaigner, he's done well in Tests and he can bring a lot of control. He's worked a lot during the last Test on his rhythm and he's feeling better. A bowler of his class, you always feel he has something to offer. I'm confident after the amount of work he's done over the last week and we're feeling confident"

This is a perfect example of the hype that PPers create.

And, an example of how getting dropped can elevate your status to a legend. If PPers don't like someone getting dropped, in particular for someone they hate, they'll hype that player to the moon. The wrist slitting gets real.

Even Abbas would've been super perplexed after the first Test, that why he's being hyped so much. And thanking his stars for being saved from the spanking he would've received on a flat highway.

These are the most bowler friendly conditions Abbas will ever get in Aus. Or any other bowler.

Haha, none of the Abbas fans are coming back to this thread.

Benching Abbas was definitely a favor to him at the Gabba. Turned him into a legend overnight among the average PAK fan.

As I said.

Abbas was a hero in the last test.

In this test, he is cannon fodder too.

Now Ehsan and Sameen seem to be flavor of the day.

No one really understands that none of these bowlers match up to a lineup of Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins, Rabada, Boult, Southee, Broad, Anderson or whatnots.

All are bang on ordinary.

Spot on.

In what world? In this world. The world where people desert you when you don't look like taking a wicket in an entire test. :abbas

Like the way people completely deserted this thread.

Look at the one-sided poll! And then the deserted thread.

Abbas was the 3rd best (and worst) pacer in the squad. He offered a bit of control but no wicket-taking threat. Imran and Musa offered no control and no wicket-taking threat. Out of this squad, Abbas should have played both Tests.

Mohammed Abbas is very slow for Australian pitches, he was bowling at 120 kph. He may come good in England

Hmmmm..

Abbas, gave 100 runs, zero wickets, 3.4 economy

Imran, gave 73 runs, one wicket, 3 economy.

:najam

Pace does matter. 120 kph wasn't gonna get him anywhere.

He offered control, comparatively, if you watched the match.

Imran on the first day when Aus piled on the runs had figures of 0/43 in 12 overs and was the bowler Azhar trusted the least. He improved his figures the next day when he was bowling more against some of the lesser batsmen. IK's one wicket was Cummins, if Abbas got to bowl at the tail, he might have gotten some wickets too... in fact, some call him a tailender specialist.

Abbas was generally going at under 3 an over, when Aus were scoring at 4.5+. It was only towards the end of the innings when Warner was slogging that his economy increased a bit.

Anyway, this is a competition of mediocrity. Don't think either of them will be too effective in the home series, but I feel both might be retained in the squad. :inti

A competition of mediocrity indeed and that's what we have in our stocks.

Kept saying Abbas is as mediocre but no, look at the reactions as if we left out a top bowler who would've made any difference. He would've done worse at the Gabba with no lights and a baking pitch.

Just makes you realize the biggest loss in the history of Pakistan cricket was Mohammad Asif. Just reminiscing about his 6fer in 2010.

Another question is why was Abbas taken to Australia with this pace? "Rhythm" complaints are just a smoke screen.

Haha, thanks. I have noticed he has been really out of form since his injury, so I knew he was gonna do bad.. However, IK should also be dropped.

Totally. Very rare to see 90% people share an opinion here. Sadly none of them has come forward to assess what went wrong.

This thread!

Abbas is our worst bowler as I've been saying. Bowling Afridi-pace spin at 120kph.

Never been the same bowler since shoulder injury

Lost pace, now he is as fast as Stuart Binny

Yes. Clever call here by Misbah.

Disguising a pacer who actually bowls spin pace. :srini
The guy is a genius.

Two spinners at the Gabba.

Dropped Naseem Shah for Adelaide.

Picked Yasir Shah in Australia where he’s always been useless.

Now no spinners in Pakistan.

There have been times in my life when I’ve had to accept that people I liked as players are useless coaches or selectors.

Are you finding that your faith in Misbah is getting strained, or are you still convinced that he’s right?
