What's new

What is exactly going on with Babar Azam?

Only one man in history has scored more T20 hundreds than Babar and yet, some delusional clowns will try to convince you that he is not a T20 batsman.

You will get to hear such nonsense only on PP.

Babar is one of the GOATs in this format.

They are the same guys whose hero is Salman Ali Agha...

I guess a lot of those people have become a fan of him after seeing his performance in the ongoing PSL. I hope he can deliver such good at international level too. I mean his strike rate is surely not an issue in this PSL.

So what happens if Babar fails in the internationals yet again ?

There are plenty of Indian batsmen who score come IPL time and flatter to decieve when it comes to T20. Do you see KL Rahul getting picked in T20s ?

There is no comparison between the two countries in terms of batting resources. India has several options besides Rahul.

A talent-depleted nation like Pakistan cannot afford to not pick Babar.

We will see the same flip flopping happen over and over again.

How many more chances should he get ?

Babar has only played in two grounds this PSL. And these are grounds he's played in throughout his cricket career and hence knows very well

This should be taken into consideration whenever Babar's performances in PSL are discussed.

You might well be right that w.r.t Babar , there is no viable alternative but unless the alternatives are given a chance to fail, there's no chance for them to succeed.

Bilateral T20s at this time have to be about giving youngsters the chance. This isn't international tournaments where someone like Babar needs to be there.

A bit of foresight would serve Pakistan well here. An understanding that Pakistan will continue testing their bench strength in bilateral T20s and Babar focusses his game on ODIs and tests.

Babar could be the example and say that he's withdrawing himself from playing in bilateral T20s while remaining free for the icc and the Asia Cup tournaments. He can well frame it to say that he's doing this to promote other batsmen.

He saves himself from countless critics. Especially if he fails.

And his performances in the PSL next season will lead to his place in the next ICC tournament being an almost certainity.

He can then focus on improving his technique and focus on his performances in tests and ODIs.
