What's new

What is exactly going on with Babar Azam?

No offence, but isn't that the past? Things that happened years ago?
Does that get deleted from his career? Everything will be in the past the next second, that's not a good way to perceive things. The current Babar is not the same of course but neither is Pakistan

He is finished. I mean look at his physique. He already has a dad body. Even when he plays shots..he does not look stylish or elegant anymore.
Rohit Sharma has Granddad body since forever and no one can play the shots he plays. This argument is too weak.

@heddie19 couldn’t Babar have said no to coming in at 4? I mean it’s obvious and you agree his game is not suited to this number so why can’t he say no and sit out..

He needs to go away for a while and focus on his game. Get off social media and other engagements. back to basics. He has the talent, the focus is gone. Otherwise he's done as a player.

Babar is under so much pressure that we will see him struggling in his strongest format, ODIs as well now... Just wait and watch.

These intent merchants have made a huge mess

He is not too active on social media already but I agree he needs to rediscover himself and his form. He is far from done and has at least 20 international centuries remaining.

As a professional representing the Nation, you're not supposed to say no.
If he had said no, this brigade would have started running after him that Babar wants to open only bla bla bla..

Reality is, Babar was made scapegoat by Hesson... He was bound to fail.. Simple

His strike rate was similar to previous world T20s...... He's failed as an opener having a bad strike rate in powerplays, it was pretty obvious he's not good enough in T20s anymore. He should retire from T20Is and Tests to focus on ODI cricket.

He even snatched captaincy for second time
If given chance he will grab another one
He is already making plans for 2028 to give another stinker and con his stupid fans and give them another false hope

Babar is not a baby holding Hesson’s finger. We all know how dumb the coatching has been, that doesn’t exempt Babar from his own doing.

Babar chose to stick with T20 format despite his struggles. Nobody put a gun on his head forcing him to play if he needed to sort things out. The entire cricket world knew about his struggles but Babar himself.

I wonder if he's in the process of losing his 'sight' as happens to batsmen when they age. Seems to be happening too early if that's the case, as per his official age.

In the game vs England, early on he reacted very very late to both pace and spin like he hadn't picked the length at all. But then he played a pretty impressive pull shot soon after to pace and I thought maybe I was wrong with my initial feelings. But maybe this loss of the eye occurs in hiccups once it begins.

Whatever the reason, one thing is for sure. Even though he was never going to be as great as many Pakistanis wished he would be, his is a case of truly unfulfilled gifts. Because no one told him or he didn't himself figure out that the careers of great batsmen always involved their game adapting and changing

Dont great player find a way to perform at any spot ?
This is pakistan team... There are roles. When saim was failing game after game and also when Salman's performance was pathetic, why did not they find a way to perform by changing their spot???

Did they? Anyone thought about it?? talked about it??

Babar has the worst strike rate in power play for any batsmen in cricket history. So where will his role be?

He was forced to fail there too...... In fact if he batted at no11 Pakistan would have had a better chance of beating England.

Not the only scapegoat he has created. He was brought in to completely dismantle the Babar and Rizwan partnership which he has done. First step was make Rizwan look like a liability and now its the turn of Babar Azam but it is harder to do it with Babar because of all the PR and backing he has. Rizwan had very little in comparison

Babar as a opener was falling too

He never picked spin from the bowler’s delivery, he had same issues with Kuldeep, his new issues with pace is what makes him a liability .

No.. even Sachin had issues in LOI when he didn’t open.. it was also coz he opened for 12-15 years before that… but still he had issues too.

Rohit the opener and Rohit middle order two different batsmen with notable exception of 2007 T20 wc

I'm getting your point but Sachin was odi player and in longer format you have time to build innings but in t20 aggressive start is needed but Babar stuck in 120 strike rate is now outdated approach

in dec 2024... He has been made to bat down the order just to upset him... Watch his performance since then... Even worse... His record at 1 and 2 has been equal to saim...
Meanwhile when he was opener

@heddie19

Dekh raha hai?

The same Rizwan who latched onto the shoulders of Babar to make his own career…today his fans are turning on Babar and his fans.

what did I tell you?

Why does goalposts keep shifting in my case for you?

Sometimes I am Salman fan

Sometimes Saim

Sometimes Farhan

Bullah ki jaana main kaun?
Farhan is not even in the debate... He is the only guy who is getting runs no matter how many dot balls he plays in powerplays...

We have seen enough of saim and salman though and you love them alot.

Yeah we know how quickly that will change for you when Farhan has a string of a few poor scores
That is why I mentioned that his dot ball issue is there.. he will find it difficult to score when his 6 hitting ability is compromised.

You’ve never truly highlighted the issues of Babar the way you have for others I realised

You become Micheal Atherton in the case of others

But Salman Butt in the case of Babar?

I absolutely detest this thread.

Mods should delete this thread and post a warning not to abuse the greats. If not for Babar's stabilization and SSA's performance, things would have been lot worse.

Bring back Rauf and Rizwan. Let the Quad guide Pak cricket to its greatness.

He was never an ideal T20 batter and in order to become a better T20 batter, his natural game affected as well. The outside pressure from media and fans also didn't help his cause.

Even during Ramadhan, guys like him have found false messiahs like Babar. It wouldn't surprise me if his love for Babar exceeds his love for Pakistan cricket. If I was in his shoes, it would be for the greater good of all if he were to start a new forum called BabarPassion rather than stink up this place.
