What is it about Pakistan-India that makes our openers freeze?

Every time, we lose our wickets to straight bowling. This isn't a bowling pitch. It's not swinging or seaming. We got out to straight deliveries not even bowled at great pace. We froze and were unable to play shots. Why?

Pressure.As simple as that.

What about other pressure games though? Deciders, finals, we can do well in them, but play India and we seem to freeze.

Hell, we lost to India in 92, but then were clutch in two finals

The only question is: whose shot was worse?

For Pak players, India-Pak matches are the ultimate showdown.Even before this match, I have read so many of your players saying they want to do well against India but hardly anything from Indians.

Pressure is the obvious thing however poor technique is even more exposed when combined with pressure. It is not as if our openers usually give us a good start against other sides.

Imam wanted to become a hero in the eyes of Pakistani girls, that’s my only explanation for his shot

Not sure what you're talking about. Our openers have actually done well against Pakistan compared to the other batsmen. Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali in the Champions Trophy. Nasir Jamshed & Salman Butt over the years.

You missed out on Chahal saying “Playing Pakistan was definitely on my bucket list”.

On thread, Imam’s stupid shot would have been repeated in any match against a half decent opposition.

I don't think Pakistani openers always freeze. They won the CT final due to Fakhar's innings.

Team management should take some blame as well. This was not a 300 pitch, should have targetted 260-265 which would have been above par. Even 190-200 could have been a competitive total

I expect Pakistan to comeback strongly in the rest of the matches. In todaya match against Ind, barring Babar Azam' s wicket, the rest weren't unplayable deliveries. They bottled under pressure

Bad day for sure. Pak gonna get bashed and Nawaz Sharif released as well!:O
