Officially it states that the guy is 31, but frankly speaking his appearance is off someone touching 35-36.

It was only a few years ago where he was one of the fittest players in the team and would serve as a great example to the entire squad on how to rotate the strike, take quick singles, run hard between the wickets for 2's and 3's.

It is embarrassing to watch him Huff and Puff between the wickets now. His run out today was disgraceful and just sums up his approach to the game in general of late.

I wonder whether he has any respect of his team mates right now?

Well he passed his yoyo with flying colours. Malik was also run out recently and he is fit

He is living on borrowed time frankly speaking and i wonder whether he has any respect of his team mates right now

Fitness has nothing to do with age. If one is overweight/obese he'll look older than they actually are.
You can see people in those before/after images, sometimes you just don't believe they are the same person. Cellphone cameras these days use algorithams to predict person's age. I have observed if the person is fat they predict him/her to be lot older and vice versa. Specially facial fat makes you look a lot older.

But maybe you are right he might have forged his age.

How are anyone of us suppose to know that? To me he looks his listed age of 31, fitness really doesn't have to much to do with this at all.

This is the fittest he's ever been. Unfortunately, Pakistanis still have trouble differentiating between athleticism(ability to move) and fitness(endurance).

Sarfaraz has never been quick, he's not an athlete.

Sarfraz is declining really quickly and his days look numbered beyond the 2019 World Cup.

We should look to groom the next Wicketkeeper now. Selecting M Rizwan is a baffling move to me considering we selected Sahibzada Farhan not too long ago and now we have dumped him after one match.

he may look old now but he looked geniune 19 in 2006 u-19 wc so i think its his weight and facial fat which makes him look older. idk what happened to him just a few years ago he was slim n trim

Athletes tend to age faster than normal people. If he looks 4-5 years older, it means he’s a super athlete!

Maybe he's one of those people who looks older than his actual age, but he looks at least mid 30s to me. Maybe in real life he looks younger and fitter than on tv.

Is that a joke? Since when do athletes age faster?

Age faster meaning they “grow” faster because they build up high amounts of hormones. Aging doesn’t directly correlate to weakening. Athletes are much older in appearance than their counterparts, assuming BMIs are the same. They have much darker skin, more facial hair, and higher chance of health-deteriorating injuries. Oh, did I mention that athletes have a much larger appetite too?

+1

This was him in 2006. He’s not an age fraudster.

Lol he's been in the system since he was 14-15 so no age forgery on his part

He's probably had multiple bone density tests as well during his U19 days

Generally in Asian countries cricketers are at least hiding 2 - 4 years . Sons of famous cricketers though cannot cheat like bazid Khan , Rohan Gavaskar , etc.

Question is - how reliable are the yo-yo scores? Is there a possibility to fudge the scores before releasing it to media?

Can we please spare sarfraz?

The guy has won more tournaments than most pakistani captains combined

Along with his fitness and suspect yo yo score results (given what we see on field), this is also something I've touched upon before. No way he is 31 (could be 31 squared however :P) given how his reflexes and his batting has deteriorated as well. He is at least 35.

I mentioned it way earlier when Pakistan toured NZ that guy is atleast 37 plus.... I m 32 and i looked so young in front of him... even azhar Ali looked 3 to 4 years younger to him

MSD one of the oldest player in Team India and also one of the fittest. So age doesn't matter to be fit, only hard work does :19:

But the problem is Sarfraz has allowed his fitness to decline and doesn't seem to be focusing on his game much, hence his poor performances recently. If he can get his act together, then there is no reason why he cannot replicate the success he had in '14-'15.

True, also :misbah3 was one of fittest even when he was 40+. Perfect role model for Pak players.

:sarf need to focus on his fitteness more.

Hey but we were told he got run out due to Indian umpire Sundaram Ravi. Don't blame Sarfaraz and his age please.

Pretty sad to see that given that Sarfaraz Bank Balance has gone up, so has his appetite for the wrong kinds of foods for professional athletes. Pretty sad to see that Pakistani players need such extreme baby sitting and micro management

Looks like CT hype spoiled these guys Sarfraz, Hassan Ali, Amir etc.

What's with Pakistanis doubting other people's age. Dude looks his age, I've seen many people in theirs mid/late 20s in America look even older than Sarfaraz, he looks like a 31 year. 31 isn't young anyways lool.

I think the mods shouldn't let people post such threads, it doesn't reflect well on Pakistan that you got people questioning people's official ages.

By the same count, Rashid khan looks like the older brother of the person he is said to be in records.
I think Sarfaraz works less on fitness or it is hereditary or something on the personal front is keeping him from being fit, just a guess.

One is a 31 year old cricketer.
The other is a 33 year old Crown Prince.

Appearance isn't everything. As you can see this is how looks can be misleading. You can't just assume peoples ages just by looking at them!

Do you have evidence to back up your assertions? Studies, for instance.

What I've read suggests that lifelong atheletes' biological age is much younger than their actual age.

When you look at how fat he is then you'd have to say about 44 years old which is basically 54 years of age on the cricket pitch because this guy is meant to be a professional sportsman ! if he's lacking such basic discipline then one has to question his desire as well. Wouldn't be surprised if his fitness tests are all rigged so he can play in a specialist role as a captain, and like MMHS said , the guy must be better then Imran Khan himself in that regard. I expect nothing less then series victories overseas and in the summer next year.

Why putting me in trouble bro - now Pankha base will be lurking around to settle some scores :))

But, indeed he has to be one of the best in business, otherwise you don't get such loyal admirers for Captaincy, after that sort of batting & keeping.

His U-19 picture suggest that his real age is same as what is officially mentioned. So no fraud there.

But he has had lot of cricket mileage and thats why he looks much older than his real age. I think he should retire from all forms of cricket after 2019 WC.

Why stop at 54?

Add a couple of zeros to make it a nice round 5400.

This is too much now. Ok Sarfraz may have flaws but now going as far as questioning his age? Age does not always determine fitness. Malik is one of the fittest and look at his age.
