Let's face it - Pakistan vs India in T20s is more than just cricket. It's emotion, pressure, and history rolled into 40 overs. But strip away the hype, and there ARE tactical patterns to success.

Here's what Pakistan needs to nail:

1. Win the Powerplay Battle

  • India's top 3 are devastating. Get early wickets or watch them cruise to 180+
  • Pakistan's own openers need to attack fearlessly - no room for slow starts
2. Middle Overs = Make or Break
  • This is where Pakistan often loses plot (overs 7-15)
  • Need better rotation of strike, not just boundaries
  • Smart bowling changes to prevent Indian batsmen from settling
3. Death Bowling Discipline
  • Indian finishers are brutal in the last 5 overs
  • Keep your nerve when Hardik/SKY go berserk
4. Handle the Occasion
  • Easier said than done, but crucial
  • Treat it like any other game (yeah, right! 😅)
5. Spin Smart
  • India plays spin well, but RIGHT matchups matter
  • Use spinners tactically, not by default in middle overs
The mental game is 50% of this battle. Pakistan has the talent. It's about executing basics under extreme pressure.

What do you think is THE most important factor? Is it batting depth? Death bowling? Or simply keeping calm when hundreds of thousands of fans are watching?

What do you think Pakistan must do differently to finally turn the tide in their favor?

It's a clash between No. 1-ranked team vs No. 8-ranked team. 9/10 times, the No. 1-ranked team ll come out on top.

Pakistan is more match ready. So is Bangladesh. They have been playing all year as a preparation. Afghanistan played only 4 or 5 this year.

Wow, Pakistan and Bangladesh have played a lot of matches. India needs to get more series and get some match practice going for all

Abhishek is not the main player he plays only 12 to 15 balls. I hope pak doesn't concentrate too much on him

You need to concentrate on gill, sky, Tilak. Samson looked scratchy else hes a touch player and can dent.

Pandya n Axar are bonus batters.

If bat first, try to reach 170 somehow.

If bat last, try to restrict India to 170.

I think Pakistan have the bowling attack to defend 170 and batting to chase 170.

BD practice matches are highly questionable. They should play all T20s in Sylhet instead of Dhaka.

I am sure they will plan that , but issue is execution , that needs certain skill sets.

He has 2 50s and 2 100s in just 20 matches. That's excellent conversion for someone who has strike rate of 198. Even if all the other innings are like 15 balls

And if you don't concentrate on him, his longer innings will destroy any teams

Win the toss. Then India have to beat the tactical advantage on top.

I also think they need to ignore the powerplay battle. It ain’t an important stat. The overall run rate of the innings is what’s important. Rizwan and Babar’s issue was more acceleration once set.

There’s no point of going a few wickets down for 5 runs extra and having to play defensive cricket for rest of innings bringing run rate down.

When we have a very strong line up we can afford to have one opener who goes crazy start up. Until then we can’t. Also guys like abhishek are remarkably consistent they don’t just average 20. If they did it would probably be a much worse strategy to go all out.

The only way for Pakistan to win is if they reduce India's score to 30/4 in the PP :kp
Only if they can give for kill after such a start. 30/4 can easily end up 158/8 if Pandya and lower order fire and then it's all over against the spinners.

Formula:

Play well +Get Lucky = Big Win ((≠ Big Learn (4 Pak)) = Big Learn (4 India)

Only if they can give for kill after such a start. 30/4 can easily end up 158/8 if Pandya and lower order fire and then it's all over against the spinners.
Fortunately, Pakistan can still beat us with hard work , good bowling plans and a few Inshallahs thrown around.

What do you mean by "thrown around"? You should avoid using religious texts if you are not able to treat them with proper respect and etiquette. I think you should take this back.

The magical formula for Pakistan should be dropping Saim down in the batting order to relieve pressure on him. The boy already has four ducks. And he was also questioned in the presser about it. Can be useful as a bowler.

No magic formula. Just go out there and enjoy yourself as making the final when a billion fans thought you were objectively worse than Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is also a decent achievement for the number 8th ranked team.

So yeah, go out there and give it your 100%. That’s all what we fans want, a great fight and our team enjoying the spectacle.

You cannot force people to respect anything. I thought there was no compulsion in your religion? Yet I always see you guys compelling and forcing others

Abhishek’s ego is his weakness. The moment you get in his head, he starts swinging blindly. We’ve seen it many times in the IPL, and even in our last match — when Shaheen sledged him, then threw in that slower hit-me ball, Abhishek just swung wildly for 2–3 shots. He was lucky it didn’t go straight to a fielder. That’s the trap. Haris, Shaheen — keep at him, play with his mind, and his wicket is yours. Taking him out is already 35% of the job done.

But don’t make the mistake of planning only for him. Gill, Surya, Hardik, and the rest — they can all win games on their own. This is the final. What happened before doesn’t matter. Today, it’s about giving everything ball by ball.
Stay sharp, sledge hard, and fight for every run. When you practice, visualize that moment after the win — India silenced, the andhbhakts who never shut up forced to eat their words, their so-called “No.1 team” exposed. Picture the shame on their faces, picture them disappearing from social media because they won’t be able to handle it. That moment will belong to you.

Now go out there, play fearless cricket, and bring it home for your country.

This is the best time to beat India. India carries a lot of out of form players partly due to Gambhir experiments with batting order, bowling rotation, squad rotation. If this team were in similar form like they were in 2024 i would not give even 1% chance to pakistan. I blame management for bringing GIll into the squad. They have reduced a crazy hitman squad to a normal T20 squad with this move.

Listen, I understand why you've suddenly quoted me — I must have struck a nerve earlier today in the thread about Sachin. But seriously, what’s the issue? Who have I forced to do anything? All I did was ask someone to show respect when discussing religion — any religion. I don’t mock others’ beliefs, and I expect the same respect in return. That’s a completely fair and reasonable request.

Also, this “you guys this” and “you guys that” — if you're going to quote me, then address me directly. I’m only responsible for what I say, not for what others say or do. I can only speak for myself.

Pakistani players end up under performing with respect to their abilities because of the pressure of the Indo Pakistan matches, they just don't handle it well at all in comparison to the Indian players. They enter the field in complete awe of Kohli, Rohit, Gill, Abhishek, Surya, Kuldeep, Bhumrah e.t.c.

That's the biggest problem. The players should have some fire in their belly for starters.

Formula is to play positively and fearlessly without feeling pressure. :inti

I know it is easier said than done.

Kohli, Rohit i understand. But this squad is not that experienced atleast in T20 internationals.Nissanka showed how to play. He didn't even slog. Just proper cricketing shots. But if Pakistan tries to hack around they will fold like cheap suit like they did against SL, BD. Thankfully lower order bailed them out.
