What is the use of the Pakistan One Day Cup?

I think PCB has wasted more than 20 million rupees for this useless tournament.

First of all the draft system was a complete " Mela " for maafia, politics, friendships, seniors " gath joarh " , nepotism and lack of merit.


Mostly TTF's have been picked for this tournament that too with some having fractured wrists yet playing.


Barring Sohail Khan there isn't even one decent fast bowler who is picked. Sadaf, Atif, Bashir, Zia, Ehtisham, Altaf none got picked so than how will this tournament be competitive ? How will the batsman be tested ?


Ahsan, Zeeshan, Rafay deserved to be selected as openers keeping in mind than Sharjeel & Shahzaib aren't available and all other openers have poor strike rate or limited game against pace.


How have youngsters like Saif Badar, Saud Shakeel, Hussain Tallat & Hasan Mohsin got treated ? Absolute sickness. Only Nabi Gul got some exposure.


Finally it's the " Kerta Dharta " management of PCB responsible for this uncompetitive low grade Cricket but still pick top performer atleast one player ? Haris performed, Amin performed. Atleast pick Haris on basis of his Odi record and current performance but No.


Aamer Yamin proved that He can be handy number 6. Similarly hussain tallat could do that job aswell yet none got picked and fahim got picked.


Sohail Khan showed his hitting prowess and deserved to be picked in place of Junaid or Wahab yet No he even got ignored.



So than in this heat what was the purpose of organising this rubbish tournament Pakistan Cup ? Wasting so much money ?
 
Haris Sohail and Aamer Yamin playing great but why would you want them in your squad when you got tuk tuk Azhar Ali and brainless Wahab Riaz

Brilliant post. Oh, imagine a day where we have people on the board with half as much passion and sense as this.

Whats the point of any domestic cricket? Only PSL performers get picked anyway.

Pakistan cricket is like a government job, you grind it out once you are in and make sure you stay in for as long as possible.

Besides Imad none of those chosen are Captaincy material especially Umar.


Even more than Shinwari I ll ask why isn't Sadaf, Majid, Atif, Bashir, Ehtisham, Liaqat, Ghouri playing ?

There needs to be a rule of playing 4 mandatory under 23 players in the line up.

Sad to see Khurrham playing, no sign of Khuadil Shah.

I agree with this. That its time to move on from these guys. they are not going to be selected so we should cycle. Should also insist no top order who scores below 85 strike rate in any tournament will be selected.

It actually served the purpose of proving lack of talent in PAK for Inzi - that's why Azhar is brought back - he didn't play in that tournament, therefore he wasn't exposed to failure.

Same was said after 2013 CT, and 2015 WC.
New players are selected for 2 series before being replaced by the same Hafeez, akmal, junaid khan, azhar ali.
 
Every player who plays in Pakistan Cup cannot be included in the squad!

Haris or Amin were needed in middle order.

Left right combination.


If Malik or Hafeez get injured or don't score in 2-3 matches than who will replace either of them ? Both of them perform poor against top 3-4 bowling line ups.

Khurram Manzoor in 2016 and Azhar Ali now.

Azhar was dropped for having poor SR. His replacement turned out to be worst fielder and averaged 10 15 runs lesser than Azhar.


With Sharjeel out Shahzaib was most suited pick but even he is out. No other domestic opener fits the needs of modern Odi batting. Nauman showed that promise but some terrible coach destroyed him forever.

Umar Amin should have been picked, Realistically he was opening for Punjab due to their sitting duck openers in Pakistan Cup.

Could have also gone out of the box and selected some young guy like Ahsan. What is the ODI Future of Azhar Ali in modern era? He is just not cut for it, And on top of that, They drop him and then select him back again.

Similar for Akmal who was apparently dropped for fitness issues but in one month all criteria were gone.

Guy isn't even playing PC and has got only 2-3 list matches every season that's why has a poor record.

We aren't BD who picked Soumya Sarkar for Odi team when after 20 odd list A matches He was averaging 17 odd.


Amin is not an agressive batsman. He has opened in domestic and for Pak A aswell but with No success. He should have been picked for middle order incase selectors management aren't sure about Haris's fitness.

Even a newbie will be acceptable, But Azhar Ali and Akmal are a big no.

What is the use of these experienced failures when they are not going to help Pakistan compete with other teams.

no one cares about this tournament [MENTION=138980]TalentSpotterPk[/MENTION] is right.
The top performers of last year were ignored as well, Fakhar, Khurram, Khalid, Zohaib Khan no one was selected for Odis. The selectors are hypocrites. They say that domestic performance matters but dont care about the top performers. Team needs agressive players, and look what we got for CT, a squad full of tuk tuks and 1 garbage player as a bonus Umer Akmal
 
I am happy that Haris Sohail and Aamer Yamin is not selected.
Lets face it, Pak will not qualify to semis anyway.
Lets induct them after CT where pressure will be much lower.

Then why select Zaman and Ashraf? Who have played no matches at all. Haris and Sohail are no newbies. Have been around the ODI side and are 27, not 21.
 
I dont see Fakhar as a good batsmen anyway so not bothered. Horizontal cross bat shot is the only thing he know. Pakistan Cup is not int standard.
Did not say anything about Sohail Khan. What happened with him is wrong.
Haris is more vulnerable than a debutante. If a debutante make mistake, he will be excused due to his age but Haris missed a year ad did not play first class cricket for a year. His induction is sensitive

You know how demoralising it will be for the performers when you are continuously being omitted even though you did well compete with the regular players, outplay them... In this same tournament Amin outperformed UA, Haris sohail played better than Hafeez in SR, less dot balls and so on... I dont think they will put any promising performance hereafter once the squad is already announced, as they are ignored while non-performers selected ahead of them....

Never happens with PAK cricket.. And with INZI im expecting a Anwar ali comeback to play against your team in July...

Forget about National Selections and some terrible selections of PC but the best thing about PC is Sahibzada Farhan.

Well done to him and Wajahatullah Wasti.
