That would be my no.1 to but wasn't sure it would qualify as a WC song it is easily the best WC song for a specific country though and the lyrics are so cryptic even today the opening line 'Garreth Southgate the whole of England is with you' of the updated version for 98 WC still resonates today aha:

It’s actually a fake one - from the masterpiece World Cup movie that is “Mike Bassett, England Manager”.

Keith Allen who wrote this for Atomic Kitten also wrote 2 of the 3 GOAT World Cup songs - “World in Motion” by England and New Order in 1990 and “Vindaloo” by Fat Les in 1998.

But “On Me ‘Ead Son” by Atomic Kitten and England is the best of the lot.

The movie feels like reality to me. When Tonka - a thinly disguised Gazza - scores the last minute winner to knock out Argentina, I actually get weepy with joy!
