What's new

What is your height?

I've had Afghan friends tell me that Afghans are short in general with the average guy barely scraping past 5'7, so I don't see how Peshawaris would be any different.

peshawar is diverse

pathans are barely majority

you have hindko speaking people (original inhabitants of peshawar) as well as urdu speaking folk

it is not similar to afghanistan

Indians punjabis, haryanvis have larger average height then rest of india. so pakistani punjab and other ethenticity as pathans wud also be taller. so average height of pakistani should be obviously larger then india.

Always thought that Afghans are very tall people.

5'7" is like South Indian height.

well difference between 5'9 and 5'11 is not very noticeable unless you measure

unless you are well above 6 or well below 5'8 you will not look taller or shorter than most people

There is a difference .. between 5' 8 and '10 is noticeable

Especially overseas. Overseas Indians and Pakistanis I see are usually 5'10"+ . Healthier lifestyle and upbringing I guess. Higher standard of living plays a part too.

Most US Born Indians I know are at least 6 feet. Some are 6'2 - 6'3. They are much much taller than their parents. Their cousins from India are noticeably shorter. Minimum of 4 to 5 inches short.

Diet and essential fats/protein seems to have played their role.

5'10.5" That extra half inch makes all the difference. I used to be 6' when I still had hair.

This of course is my physical height. I like to think I'm taller in stature. That's the one that counts.

I'm 6'0.Tallest person in my family.I'm happy with my height.

5'9-5'10 seems to be the average height of people here.

Most of my friends are only a bit shorter than me.A couple are my height and one is 5'3.

In my A'level college a lot of guys are taller than me but not by much. But I'm younger so I can still grow IA. :)

I relative of mine is 6'9"........ his elder son is 6'10" and his younger son is 6'11" (17 years old only).... and their mother is about 5'3".

I'm from Peshawar and the average height there is about the same as elsewhere in Pakistan.

No, it does not  Social conditioning lead you to believe that non-sense. If you ain't 5'11" then it ain't worth it anymore.

I am 5 ft 8 and happy with my height. I can't imagine myself to be taller, neither do I think that it would suit me. Being tall is over rated in my opinion as people over a certain height look silly; especially those who don't work out and are skinny & lanky. Having a toned body and have nice facial features is more important.

That was a sarcastic post bhai jan.

Surprised at so many 6 and aboves...I'm 5 10 and yet to grow a 2 more inches I guess, still a month left in getting 18 although my hie has kind of stopped growing...I'd personally rate 6 as the ideal one...cuz people nowadays are too short mostly

Wait I'm 179 cm that is 5,11 actually

In Peshawer yes but rest of KPK is different. Peshawar is full of shaaryan/khaaryan who are not ethnically Pathans.

tall but not tall enough. short but not really short. story of my life in a way.

The variance elsewhere isn't really enough to be significant. Up north (not including Chitral and Kohistan etc), in Dir, Swat etc people are very slightly shorter but stockier, down south (anything South of Kohat) they have the same structure as South Punjabis i.e. slightly taller than average but not as heavy set. I have family in Mardan and Charsadda and I've never really noticed much variance from the norm there either.

I was of this opinion because this myth was propagated by many including Imran Khan

but all the pathans i see in karachi (and i think theres more here than any city in the world) are of average height

dunno where this idea came from

Hair?!. That don't count.

It doesn't anymore, for obvious reasons.

But it did. I don't recall anyone ever trying to pat down my hair to try to remove it from the measurement. My height on all my old official documents is 6'0'' and I'm not 6'0'' anymore.

In any case, I'm heartened by the breathtaking displays of honesty on this thread. There was a time not too long ago when all the men on this forum were exactly 6'2'', not an inch shorter or taller.

The average Pakistani guy is in the 5'6 to 6'2 range, that's a wide range but most guys will fall in that bracket.

lol the average guy is 5'6 to 6'2 range regardless of nationality

You do know thats not really an average range per se lmao :))

Majority of the male population falls in that range.

Next what. Majority of Pakistanis have their names starting with letters from A-Z?

CO must have resulted in you thinking 'Man Im short'

I never ever thought that I was short till i lived there. Even every other chick was round 5'10

Certainly doesn't hold true for Chinese. I think their average height would be in the 5'6" to 5'8" range.

Actually, no, not Colorado, but Minnesota definitely. Those well-fed Scandinavian farm boys and girls all tower over the rest of us.

In any case, I'm used to feeling short, because I was and still am the shortest of all my cousins and uncles etc.

Apparently you also shrink in height after your 50s by an inch or two. But facial hair gain volume.

I've heard the same, and seen it in the elderly. Something to do with the space between the spinal discs and vertebrae decreasing. I'm not there. Yet.

Heartbreaking. RIP to a couple of inches of your personality.

Its funny when you look at someones driver license it says they are 5'11+ or something but infact they are no taller than 5'6-5'7.

That reminds me, at a gym I used to go to, there were motivational posters, one of which said "I want to weigh what I tell the DMV I weigh."

(DMV, for non-US members is the Department of Motor Vehicles, which issues drivers' licences)

Just curious though, why do you look at other people's drivers' licences?

He might be a chachu

I'm 5"10. Tallest in my family by like 1 inch lol, but I think Pakistani's are genetically short so in a way I'm above average in height.

5 10

To be honest, your actual height doesnt show how tall you are. Its your body figure.

I have these two cousins. The memory of them is saved in my as such that the elder one looks tall then the younger one. But in reality the younger one is much taller.

Reason being is the body figure.

A guy who is thin, his heighr will be noticeable. A guy with a broad chest and body, his height wont be that noticeable

6'1.. it ain't all that being tall. Especially when you are on flights to Pakistan.

Not necessarily, somebody that has a short torso will look shorter even if they're tall and thin. Also guys who have more rugged/broader faces tend to appear taller even if they're really short.

That's a broad generalization. There's no way to prove that we're "genetically short" (lol at pseudoscience) and nor is it like we're all genetically the same.

lol this is so true, o many guys lie about their height.

What they do is measure their height with shoes on so that adds 1-2 inches, so if they're 5'8.5 they'd be 5'10.5 with shoes, then they round up their height to 5'11 and then add an inch lol, so that's how they reach 6'.

This is so exaggerated lol, I know a lot first generation indian-americans at my school and most of them are like between 5'6 to 5'10. The tallest Indians I've met were Sikhs and indian Christians from the south.

I have never stayed at Mardan, Karachi or Charsadda for more than an hour so can't really comment but if you go around rural kpk you will notice heights are noticeably taller. It is not a massive difference but noticeable to me at least.

My dataset is my extended family which include over 100 members. It's a generaltion but I believe that we're on average shorter than the world average height.

Your family is just your family lol, that's your genepool bruh not the rest of ours. Your 'dataset' has many errors, one is that it doesn't factor in ethnicity. Also there's no world average but we are below the average for white and black people but i'd say we're above average for Asians.
