What is your prediction of future technology (within the next 50 years)?

Jules Verne imagined something like the Apollo mission when he wrote the iconic sci-fi book "From Earth to Moon".

What do you feel will be the ultimate technology which will be developed and accessible for masses within next 50 years in any field.

From my side:

1. Augmented reality in all fields (teaching, research, gaming..)
2. WiFi speeds could become 50 Terra bytes per second
3. Crypto currencies will be the biggest and common black/parallel economy in every nation
4. Quantum computing
......

Please share your thoughts

-Artificial intelligence will be at the heart of all appliances we use today. From TVs and fridges to cars, everything will be automated due to artificial intelligence.
-Self-driving cars will be a reality and will be prevalent throughout the world.
-Cloud computing will continue to grow and most intensive processes will happen in the cloud rather than on the native hardware of your device.

Artificial intelligence will penetrate all aspects of human life. And their threat will grow bigger. This is the only prediction which has a high probability of actually coming true.

Mainstream television's popularity will decrease considerably.

Data is obviously on its way to becoming the biggest weapon and its handling will become much more sophisticated and specific.

Identity cards would become obsolete. Chips would be put inside human beings for identification and security purposes.

LIFI to become common.

Short distance flights within a small geographical area to become a reality (uber is already trying).

VR+camera upgrades may make movies seem like a live performance...well this was a prediction by actor Kamal Haasan during an interview at Google headquarters

I am looking forward to a brain computer interface which will allow thought driven machines.
Also a technique to "download" ones entire memories, emotions & personalities to a hard drive, thus achieving a kind of mental immortality ( or until your funds run out to pay the storage & maintenance fees!! ). It would also be great for your immortal brain to have a few sensory attachments in order to continue to do a few things like read, write, experience your surroundings etc.
I am sure that these things will happen but perhaps not in 50 years.

1) From Physics to molecular biology, machines will be the ones making more scientific breakthroughs.
2) Artificially augmented humans will be a common sight.
3) Absolute poverty will be a thing of past.

Most of what has been mentioned is already in implementation, and in years will become mainstream.

My one prediction in technology is the reliance on Oil. Oil will be a thing of the past in 50 years time, and I predict we will be using water as fuel. Water will become the most traded commodity in 50 years time.

Apparently, you are doing this in Pakistan already, and the kit costs less than $500. :salute:

all these future technology will happen only if have cheap oil

which do not have so much

Augmented reality will become the default way we view things majority of the time.

24/7 wearable or body-implanted Network/Cellphone connectivity will become the norm. And will be free. Location privacy will be the trade-off.

Children will be issued a network id at birth. Highly likely that corporations will give money to parents to sign contracts to join their "network".

At least one of Elon Musk's "big ideas" - either hyperloop, or underground tunnel 'roads', or high speed rocket travel around the globe, or some other idea that he hasn't had - will become physical reality. Musk will die before Human Setttlement on Mars is achieved though.

Self-driven cars will outnumber manually driven cars.

There will be some type of massive geo-engineering effort to combat global warming -whether its to 'sink' carbon into the ocean, or genetic engineering driven biological efforts. Big chunk of the funding for this will not come from governments or the UN - it will be some super rich billionaire who chips in to make it come to fruition.

another thing is if next financial crisis happen in 5 to 10 years then whole global economy will collapsed

and this time there will no bailouts if no bailouts mean-no future tech

Why will the global economy collapse in next 5-10 years?

Why will the global economy collapse in next 5-10 years?

Start preparing for the next financial crisis now
We need measures to limit the likelihood of disorderly market processes in the next downturn

Global monetary policy has been “ultra-easy” for many years. Yet it is becoming clear it is now caught in a debt trap of its own making.

Continuing on the current monetary path is ineffective and increasingly dangerous. But any reversal also involves great risks. It follows that the odds of another crisis blowing up continue to rise.

It is to be hoped that the preparations being made by policymakers to manage such a situation are evolving at the same pace. Simply crossing your fingers and praying that “it might never happen” would seem imprudent, to say the least.

Carrying on with current monetary policy brings with it the threat of inflation. And given economists’ lack of understanding of either the level of “potential” or the inflationary process itself, it could easily get out of hand.

However, inflation is not the only danger. First, debt ratios have been allowed to rise for decades, even after the crisis began. Moreover, whereas before the crisis this was primarily a problem of the advanced economies, it has since gone global. Second, tolerance of risk-taking threatens future financial stability, as does the narrowing of the profit margins for many traditional financial institutions. Third, the misallocation of real resources by banks and other financial institutions is encouraged by this monetary environment. With markets unable to allocate resources properly, due to the actions of central banks, the likelihood that rising debt commitments will not be honoured has risen sharply.

Unfortunately, normalising monetary policy also carries significant risks. Clearly, a strengthening global economy is preferable to a faltering one. Yet, in such a situation, rising inflationary pressures would likely lead to a monetary tightening that could have destabilising effects.

Flying cars for all drivers!:amir3. Computers cleaning all homes and life expectancy increased to a 100 years on average. I think the Middle East and Asia are the future. Europe and the USA's best days seem to be coming to an end.

- Flying vehicles and/or intelligent driving capability

- Robots doing most of the demanding jobs including fighting wars

- Emergence of cyborg sort human machine hybrids. Implants enhancing, replacing or protecting human organs

- IoT powered socities, where health and other stuff is combined and analyzed by clouds at large scale

- Wars in space

- Time distortion ability, able to navigate limited time space

- Alternative energy source. Not exactly water but any other element (like controlled magma etc)

- Nanobots aiding in treatment of complex medical conditions resulting in more treatments, possibly curing many uncurable neuro diseases

- Emergence of huge corporations as nations instead of traditional nations

1. Augmented reality is already here and is being used by everyone. From google glass to snapchat. Apart from minor fine tuning it wont be much of use. Would probably provide another medium of display. Holographic displays are another possibility.

2. No. It could be some other wave though.

3. Crypto will fail. However concepts of blockchain may aid various fields of life. We already got different alternatives around.

4. Quantum basic computer is already there. While its public existence can create a revolution by nullifying security and solving bigger problems, we must realize that its not a general purpose concept. Think of it as another form of graphics card. It can only solve specific set of problems.

From what you mentioned I feel nanobots will be huge..personalised medicine might be on the way..

To ease traffic congestion cars will become essentially planes with lanes in the sky maybe 100-200mn above ground in most places.
