What Naseem Shah did vs India was admirable, but should it have been allowed?

Looked like Naseem Shah bowled the last over in extreme pain and credit to him he bowled his heart out.

However, I felt a bit bad the team allowed it and was risking a young fast bowler potentially picking up a long term injury. I know it is a big game vs India and it was a tight situation but at the end of the day this was a first round game and I can’t help but feel that it was not worth risking career over. Maybe I am overthinking it but we have a history of young fast bowlers who have had their careers cut short.

it was worth it. It was a crucial over, and we couldn't ask a part timer to bowl the last two deliveries. Naseem got hit for a 6 and got a dot on the last ball.

You can say that the last two deliveries should not had been bowled and allowed iftikhar or khushdil to come up and deliver two balls. You are right, it was not worth to risk a young bowler in a round robin match.

Just shows how much our players build the Pak india game in the hear

It was cramp and nothing more if thier was a injury then that's a another story.

I agree. He should've been taken out.

Pakistan need him for World T20. Asia Cup is nothing.

It was a cramp but surely him sprinting in under those circumstances is inviting an injury. You can tell as his pain seems to increase after every delivery.

Wasn't actually sprinting it was more like a jog.Its up to the bowler to say he wants to go off.

Young blood fighting it out for his country

He has won the hearts of all the world by doing so

Physio's call.

I'm sure he would have said that he needs to come off if he felt that he wasn't fit enough to bowl.

At the age of 16, his mum died whilst he was on tour. He didn’t fly back knowing that the PCB has invested so much for him to debut

Today he knew Pakistan had no choice but for him to bowl his overs, he fought extreme cramps for his country.

It was bad management. Stupid to let him bowl at that time. He was clearly in pain and discomfort and should have be replaced

Hmm I don’t know he is a 20 year old on debut and in midst of a fiery spell in a tight game against India. Can he be trusted to make a sound decision?

Sorry @Saj, I misunderstood your post but I don’t know if it was entirely physios call

By who though?

Only Iftikhar or Khushdil could have bowled the remaining deliveries

They would have gone for 2-3 sixes

Game over!

But at the end of the day, this is a group stage game. I just wonder if the same decision would have been made if we were playing any other opposition than India.

Oh yes, we play India every few months like West Indies or Sri Lanka do so.

India, Pakistan matches are lifetime games. You can’t miss them for the sake of it as a cricketer, especially now as the games are only played in big events.

Hats of to Naseem, the man fought it out for his side

My point is more long term but even if we think short term. What happens if Naseem picks up an injury and we have to face India again in later stages of the tournament? We are already down Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The fitness coach with whatever millions he gets paid with, must be put under the sword here.

Why the heck is your prime bowler not fit enough to bowl 4 overs?

There is absolutely no excuse behind this.

If you cant do your job to look after the players and cant keep them in their prime fitness level, then get outta here !

Cramp is nasty!. He somehow nearly bowled the perfect over. Man was like Resident Alien. Absurd.

The Hundred did him good but also a coincidence he started floundering after 20 balls?.

He must've only recently travelled over too. Bad management per usual.

At least one more this competition and probably final too..

It was poor team management. With the ground temp hovering above 35 deg, the mgmt should have anticipated possible issues with cramps. He should have been removed from the ground after his 1st spell, kept hydrated and brought back in the death overs.

Naseem Shah so far at the Asia Cup:

4-27-2 (12 dot balls)
2-7-2 (11 dot balls)

Naseem is doing well. He needs to turn it on against India too.

If it was physio's call, was a bad call, muscles cramps can lead to serious injury if not taken care of and there was no time for treatment on the field . With Shaheen already doubtful for the WC, it was not worth taking risk with Naseem.

Very bad decision. Imagine if he had slipped and pulled a muscle - he wud have been out for 6 months

Is it worth risking a bigger injury - that too to a fast bowler just to win a meaningless T20 game ?

A bad call. You already have one pacer injured and WT20 is just on the corner. Focus should be on winning that and you need a full strength side to do that.
