What's new

What next for Pakistan whenever Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi retire?

These three are current Pillars of Pakistan team.
When these guys retire what would be the state of Pakistan cricket?
The better question to ask would be what next for pakistan when satfi and fakhar retire.

Fakhar's and sarfi are the sole reason why Pakistan have avoided humiliation in the past.

Pakistan would have lost everything, if sarfi didn't salvage one draw against NZ, even back then they'd have lost the qf if sarfi didn't do what he did against sa and Ireland. Similarly they'd have gotten eliminated by Sri lanka in ct if sarfi didn't slave and save.

Pakistan would have certainly lost CT final and even semi if fakhar wasn't around.

They have lost 3-2 against C team NZ in the odi series last year if it wasn't for Fakhar's back to back 100's.

They'd have lost the drs game of 400 of it wasn't for fakhar, they'd have probs lost to Bangladesh too lol.

These 2 deapite being mistreated and not featured, they ironically salvage and save Pakistan.

Babar, Rizwan and Shaheen are useless

I am visualizing Babar singing "Sapna toota hai toh dil kabhi jalta hai...." in his farewell speech
At the rare he's going, it's highly unlikely he'll get their.

He's still a hero to the kids, but adults and the nation in general are getting frustrated now.

They still don't view Babar like us, We viewed him as a decent accumulator and a soft scorer who's lost form, Whereas the nation viewed him as the greatest Pakistani to ever live but one who's crumbled.

However people are noticing the crumbled part and are getting frustrated now.

Can it get worse than this? I think we might discover some more promising T20 players.

PSL offers great financial rewards regardless of opinions, these T20 players earn a good amount, especially when considering the country’s situation. We will always have young aspirants trying to make it big in cricket and in life. These cricketers enjoy a better standard of living and lifestyle compared to other professions and sports where the pay scale is quite low. This is one reason why I believe we will continue to see young talented T20 players who view PSL as a stepping stone to a better life in Pakistan.

Go on YouTube and search "Sapna Toota hai Babar Azam"

Add Fakhar in there too, he only does it in one format while the others do it in three, but arguably the one format he performs in ODIs he does at a higher level than anyone else.

Just have to see whether the new guys step up or not. Shaheen is fairly young, and people wondered whether we'd have a replacement to our fast bowlers 10 years ago.

Its a bit frustrating Fakhar play one format for us (he does play T20 too but he has generally done badly at it) because I think it's rare that players are international material. So once you find someone is, I think it's more likely to get them to play all formats, then finding different specialists in domestic. Which is also why I think we overrate youngsters/domestic talent, when they haven't even proven they're "international material" yet.

I am hopeful Saud will be performing in all formats, or at least ODIs too soon. Because he's proven he's at least international material in tests and I think it will carry over to an extent. In ODIs he has looked promising, but I think has got out to a soft dismissal nearly every time, despite also nearly every time getting a start and looking comfortable. Just needs to stop throwing his wicket away like that. Can't really pretend he's been a success in ODIs, he's been poor, otherwise there's no way he'd have those bad stats. However you can see that really he is capable of far better than that.

Once they retire from playing, they will take over roles at the PCB. Rizwan will be the director, Shaheen will become the bowling coach, and Babar will be an Urdu commentator

Agreed whole heartedly , we might always get 5/6 very good T20 cricketers from now on regardless of what will happen to us in ODI or Test but in T20 we will always remain in top 5 ranking despite the current low we are seeing.

T20 means money so nobody is fool enough to not work hard to get it and plus we already have natural raw fast bowling talent , we will always have FAST bowlers and raw hitters with zero technique , will do good in T20s.

Even the WIs with all the corruption and nepotism regularly produce brilliant raw talent which is as good as the world's best. They regularly produce 150K pacers and good hand eye coordination raw hitters , our raw talent might be slightly lower than WIs as we don't produce as quality hitter as WI or regularly churn out 150k after every 2 or 3 years like WI does but our domestic structure is more competitive so we might get better organized and potentially more match winning players than WIs even in our all time decline.
