Putting in a decent performance at the moment for Pakistan with the bat. His batting is important for Pakistan as is his experience but what is the ideal batting position for him in this World Cup?

Ideally at 6
But when we lose 2 wickets after 25 overs then hafeez to 4 and haris at 6

Has given a good performance at this position

Lovely batting by the guy today

Pakistan must drop Imam-ul-Haq and open with Mohammad Hafeez

That way we can accommodate one extra batsman or even bowler.

Why not open with Hafeez and use this advantage

Have you forgotten how terrible Hafeez is against the new ball? If not plz go watch some old videos he was one of our worst openers ever

He should bat at 5 or 6. I think he would be a different player today if he had always batted down the order because he's just terrible against the new ball, especially when its moving

On this wickets, I think he can bat at number 4.
But like I've said before, ideally he should come in after 25-30 overs...

His position at the moment is perfect.

I guess he should bat at 5 and sarfraz at 4 sarfraz have rotation of strike and Hafeez sometimes struggle in that.

Hafeez can come and finish games for us.

Malik is a redundant position he can be replaced with imad with batting clicking we don’t need Malik at 6 or 7

More important than position is when should Hafeez bat. I would not send him out to bat before the 20th over. After the 20th over he should go out as he can be free flowing and play his shots with out having to hold back. If only he spent his whole career at 4/5.

100% agree

4 is the right position for him. Anywhere lower, he will be wasted.

4 is ideal. I thought 6 before this game, but with the sort of form he's shown he would be wasted anywhere lower.

Hafeez at 5, Malik at 6 and Asif Ali at 7 can do the big hitting whilst Sarfraz at 4 will rotate strike are will when spinners are on

He should take confidence from this game and just go berserk for the rest of the tournament and play as he has never done before. Good opportunity to become a Pakistani legend.

4 of 5 is fine, it's not so much the batting number but the overall context of where you are batting. There's a reason he has historically struggled as an opener and that's because he is weaker against the new ball. If he bats at 4/5 but still comes in the 3rd over, then I would have less hopes of him playing innings such as yesterday.

His ideal position is Number 4.

01. Fakhar Zaman
02. Sarfaraz Ahmad
03. Babar Azam
04. Mohammad Hafeez
05. Haris Sohail
06. Shoaib Malik
07. Asif Ali
08. Shadab Khan
09. Hasan Ali
10. Wahab Raiz
11. Mohammad Amir

Hafeez has played his last innings at No.4. Now Drop down for pakistan Sake

Thanks you Professor but Pakistan does not need you at no.4
We are done with you coming playing a little 20 - 30 and throw
your wicket away and putting your team in lots of pressure

Please eat humble pie and move down the batting order

Great win but concern about Mohammed Hafeez's batting position?

I seriously think Haris should come in at 4 and Hafeez at 6, what do you guys think.

And Congrats again.

Zero concern and I will tell you why: I know this sounds like appeasing the self-entitled senior players but that's exactly the reason he has to bat at #4. It's my own opinion (from hearing some of his & others' interviews) that he wants to bat in the top order. If Harris is a team-player and has no issues batting at #5, I would let Hafeez take the #4 spot. It does a player a world of good when you show confidence in their ability and it's sometimes the difference between a good performance & a poor one.

If you're using today's game as the metric then please note that most of our batsmen barring Harris took some time to get going because the earlier you got in there the more difficult it was to bat (at least that's what it seemed like from a spectator's viewpoint). That in mind, Hafeez was doing alright. Also, if the pitch is flatter, Hafeez can just go off! With the mental aptitude displayed by Harris today, I feel even better about him coming at 5 as opposed to 6. It will be nice to have someone at that position to finish the innings.

That said: if Hafeez himself is 100% okay with it and is confident he will be able to perform at 5 as well, then definitely go for it. Because long-term, I'm sure Harris will bat at #4 (by that I mean after the WC when hopefully Hafeez retires).

Harris has to play at number 4. Hafeez is not consistent enough so number 6 or even 7 depending on match situation should be the case for him.

He is just a average level all rounder

Fakhar (start firing yaara)
Imam
Babar
Haris - can play fluently and under pressure.
Sarfraz
Hafeez - cant play fluently let alone under pressure.

He's so shaky at the start. Even the shot he got out, shouldn't have attempted it, but he picked it and hit it under control he just didn't get the power off. His age is really showing honestly, he has the skill but his reflexes are going.

I'm not sure I'd move Haris from 5, he's batting so well there and aggressively which is something people criticised him in the past. I think also him a little down the order, it puts some calm there, it's not just top 3 and bust.

I'd move Sarfraz to 4. Wasted down the order and maybe he'd do better there.

Hafeez at 6 regardless of Sarfraz batting at 4 or 5.

I'd be tempted to drop Hafeez for Rizwan, but he's not in the squad, and Hafeez's bowling with Imad's looking a bit off is helpful.

Haris needs to play 4 as the superior batsman.

Safaraz needs to play 5 as he's effectively useless anywhere but the middle overs.

Hafeez has a finishing game and therefore needs to play the acceleration role at the end.

Where we think Hafeez should play is irrelevant.

He is the 'senior' man and therefore he will decide where he plays :hafeez

Even though Haris deserves the spot way more than he does we will not see Hafeez give up his middle order spot.

If logic prevailed in the Pakistan team over senior power, the travesty of Haris being initially benched for Malik would never have occured.

Hafeez is a seriously average player and has been throughout his career. He has so much experience behind him having played countless matches for Pakistan and yet he consistently plays brainless shots when it isn’t required.

I’m hoping he retires after the WC and if he doesn’t than he should never be selected for Pakistan again.

This Senior has almost lost two matches had Sohail not stepped in. He looks in fine form plays some attractive strokes and than throw it away.

He is playing at wrong no. At 4 hope for sake of pakistan cricket he is pushed back to no.5 or 6 in this world cup
