Now, some of you may be thinking "its ridiculous to chose an ODI team based on T20 league" but to be honest, I believe that PSL is the second best reference for selecting ODI squad, with the best being ODI matches. Pakistan First-Class, and List A domestic tournaments are low quality, I just don't like to rely on it.

And besides, most players nowadays are T20 an ODI players, except very few like Imam Ul-Haq.

My way to make the 2023 ODI WC squad:

1. Make an A team and B team
2. Take out four players from either team

1st Team
1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Imam Ul-Haq
3. Babar Azam
4. Muhammad Rizwan
5. Agha Salman Ali
6. Shadab Khan
7. Muhammad Nawaz
8. Shaheen Shah Afridi
9. Naseem Shah
10. Haris Rauf
11. Usama Mir

2nd Team
1. Saim Ayub
2. Haseebullah Khan
3. Tayyib Tahir
4. Azam Khan
5. Iftikhar Ahmed
6. Muhammad Haris Khan
7. Imad Wasim
8. Muhammad Wasim Jr.
9. Ihsanullah
10. Shahnawaz Dahani
11. Abrar Ahmed

4 Players I will Take out are Muhammad Nawaz, Haseebullah Khan, Shahnawaz Dahani and Muhammad Haris Khan/ Azam Khan

Use both PSL and Pakistan Cup to select. Using that, I argue both Usama Mir and Ihsanullah should play the World Cup. Saim Ayub ahead of Imam as well.

I disagree with the Shadab selection. Since 23 Sep 2018, Shadab averages 42 with the ball and 18 with the bat against top 8 sides ( WI, Afghans, Netherlands etc excluded)

Any team with Rizwan at number 4 in ODI is an absolute joke

Sorry but the guy isn’t a number 4 ODI batsman. It’s disrespectful to legends like Inzimam, Yousuf and Miandad who have donned that position for us

I can get the argument for T20s (and because you have an agenda Vs Rizwan), but there’s no argument against him playing in the ODI team, where his s/r is fine at 86 odd. Unlike T20s, where aggression is important, you also need to stay at the crease, which he does.

He’s the best wicket keeper in Pakistan (or Asia) for that matter. This is especially important when you’re keeping to our bowling attack, which is still our strength.

So, disrespectful to others or not, he’s the best for the team combination.

Yeah let me make this clear

He’s not a batsman. You need a batsman in that position. You will see it with time, he had hoodwinked himself into that position for now.

Good point about Iman. If Shan Masood was able to play PSL, what happened to Imam? How come he wasn't gracing the PSL with his presence?

While every major team was busy playing meaningful cricket we were busy playing psl. I am afraid we will not get enough odi practice before the world(if we play).

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Shafique
Rizwan
Salman agha
Shadab
Imad
Shaheen
Naseem
Ehsanullah

M nawaz
Haris rauf
Mohammad haris
M wasim

In my opinion 9 of the XI are already locked up.

I'm going with 3 spinners as it's in India, and i'm going with Imad over Nawaz because we have other spinners and his much better batting makes up for his lesser bowling.

Fakhar
Imam
Babar
Rizwan
?
Imad
Shadab
Usama Mir
Shaheen
Naseem
?

Number 5 is open. I'd like to see more from guys like Ifti, Saim, Mohammad Haris and Abdullah Shafique before deciding. It may just come down to who is the most in form at the time.

3rd seamer race is also open. It's between Rauf, Ihsanullah, Zaman Khan and maybe even Abbas Afridi if he can stake his claim in time.
