As cricket fans eagerly await the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, all eyes are on the pitches in Pakistan's premier venues: Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. Known for their spin-friendly conditions, these pitches are expected to challenge even the best batsmen and reward skillful spinner

With the tournament set to kick off on February 19, 2025, teams will need to adapt quickly to the local conditions to succeed.

A great example is Sajid Khan's recent performance against the West Indies. In the spin-friendly conditions of Multan, Sajid, along with Noman Ali, wreaked havoc on the opposition.

This shows how Pakistan can leverage spin-friendly pitches to its advantage.

Also, what types of pitches do you think we'll see in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi for this event?

Speaking from past Indian tours exp, I never saw a pitch in pak assisting spin in an odi match especially. It was jagging around in second half when day and night matches started around 1.30 pm .test pitches are turning due to fans and icc curators won't accept it.They will prefer belters for the ad revenue and viewership. Should expect usual pattas .

Not sure if PCB will have any control on these pitches for CT2025.

Ain't ICC the organiser they will make wickets suitable to tournament winners

It will be batting friendly wickets and we should expect scores of around 300 in every match.

It’s an ICC tournament.

Pakistan will not be dictating how the pitches are made.

They will be belters like they are everywhere in ICC tournaments. Similar to India’s.

300 should be the minimum score.

Haris Rauf alone will concede 100+ runs in his 10 overs.

Should be flat pitches.

They're not going to make turning wickets for an ODI tournament because of longevity. Multiple games will be played in these stadiums and making dry surfaces will lead to atrocious conditions at the end.

Well if we drop Rauf from the playing XI then who would be your 5 bowlers?

1. Shaheen
2. Naseem
3. Abbas/Wasim Jnr
4. Abrar
5. Can be either Khurram, Sajid or Agha/Saim/Aamer Jamal if we want to strengthen batting.

ICC tournaments are usually won with batting, specially on decent batting tracks (the norm these days).

No bowler, no matter who you pick, will concede as many runs as Haris Rauf does in ICC tournaments.

What about someone like Khushdil Shah as a part time 5th/6th bowler? He is in good form.

Yes ,flat pitch in pakistan but what about UAE ?

And dew will Play Major role in Both places during feb- march .
That is the main issue , if too much dew it makes toss very important.

ICC after all these years have not worked at effective ways to deal with this issue. This is a sad thing. May be starting games earlier can help.

I don't think there will be the type of belters we saw in India. I have never seen pitches that flat in an ICC World Cup.

From a selfish Pakistani perspective I'd like slightly spin friendly pitches where our lack of powerhitting (more pronounced without Saim Ayub) and lack of defensive bowling skills aren't as exposed as it will be on surfaces where 300-350+ is par as we saw at the World Cup. I don't want minefields where batsmen can't get set and average spinners are making merry, but par scores between 250-280 would probably suit us.

With ICC supervising, it's hard to say especially with Pakistan not hosting an ICC event since 1996. Ideally we'd see a variety of conditions so that when the eventual champion is crowned, they'll have been tested in every scenario.

It is a sudden death tournament. No show in two games you are out. If they turn this into a boring spectacle CT will effectively die which i don't mind. There is no chance for coming back in this. So i expect decent wickets that last 100 overs. Otherwise it will be a commercial disaster.

Yes, ICC would make sure that the pitches will be batting friendly and there will be high scoring games with plenty of boundaries to keep the fans entertained.

Good bowlers do well on those wickets as well. Bumrah, Shami, Hazlewood, Rashid Khan were all exceptional on those 2023 wickets. Bumrah had an insane ER of 4.06. Shami had an insane average of 10.
