it seems so at first

but anorexics are usually young girls who haven't matured enough mentally to deal with their particular issues in a less destructive fashion
its often a case of a teenager sitting in a corner with a bloody throat and a razor blade

whereas the fatties may be predisposed by genetics but ultimately lack self-discipline

Eating disorders (bulimia, anorexia, etc) can happen at any age and it's not always because of depression and insecurity about one's weight.

I have an eating disorder and it's not because I'm depressed or feel fat...it's only because I am such a picky and fussy eater and I don't like food eating much and have a tiny appetite. Has nothing to do with being depressed or lacking confidence.

Mona why would you say you are a fussy eater and have a tiny appetite? Have you been like that since childhood or is it a fairly recent habit that you have developed? (Just to let you know I am being deadly serious about this and there is no humour at all intended in my post :) ).

Again I had a paratha waiting for me when I came back from work. Drank domw homemade mango milkshake. Now I am having a flask of water before I go to sleep.

I've always been a very fussy and picky eater, don't know why though.

i think sometimes people get into this habit of eating once a day, i did that around 6 months back...i skipped meals and after a week or so got used to eating once a day....and basically got very kamzor my mum got worried and mum being mum got me back to normal zabardasty, even though i didnt like it at the time but now i understand , it develops into a habit which is not good for ones health.

yar when you live away from home, at times you start having one meal a day for a long stretch.

that's one area you need to sort out habibi, have snacks in between but do eat something through out the day, having one meal for the whole day can do more damage in the long-term (i actually got a 2 hour lecture from my cousin whose a doc.

smoked a blunt... bbqed some kababs... had a burger... chocolate cupcakes... fish biryani... then the best part... played tapeball cricket under lights at a baseball stadium(played cricket after about 4 months)...

how come being a fussy eater is a eating disorder?
I and many others equate Anorexia with 'attention-seeking'...'oh look at me, I'm so fat I have to throw up my food every 5 mins' etc

If it stems from childhood then habits such as those involving eating picked up then are very hard to change. Its quite easy for some people to say "you should eat more" or "how the hell can you eat just one meal? etc" but in truth its a lot more complicated than that.

I hope the throwing up stops soon, if it doesn't then I think you should consider going to your GP for some advice on what the best course of action is. I don't think you should let this continue for any longer, in the long term your health could suffer quite badly as a result.

Oxy yaar whilst in some cases it is attention seeking, in the vast majority of cases of anorexia (extreme starvation inflicted on oneself) and bulemia (eating then deliberately throwing up the food) are very, very serious psychological disorders that have detrimental effects on people's lives and their families.

It used to be the case that those who used to suffer from Schizophrenia were just termed as "mad" and often used to be killed. It is only quite recentlythat we haved realised that schizophrenia is a severe psychotic disorder and appreciate that sufferers are not simply "mad" but often suffer due to circumstances beyond their control.

This can be the case with eating disorders like anorexia and bulemia. The causes are very complex and varied and we should not simply call the symptoms of the sufferers as being "attention seeking".

Raz - the 'what about your promise to your son' comment has worked on me - you swine :12:

What the hell? You are obviously ignorant about eating disorders because they are not always about seeking attention and being depressed about your weight, that's certainly not true because I know I'm not fat and don't throw up because I want to lose weight and get attention...it's natural to feel sick and then throw up if you have one meal a day.

Learn a bit about eating disorders before making such statements. ::J

Oxy how do u know hes not playing Maltesers with a girl ;)

I jus had 2 veg samosas..some chaat..and a bit of a chicken burger

Always considered that a 'girls' chocolate.

How can something be a 'girls' or 'boys' chocolate? I think the lack of food is seriously effecting Oxy.

you and many others need to learn a few things. i hate it when people make fun of those who have psychological disorders. pathetic.

Read your own comments at people who eat too much - and then come back to me on the 'making fun' bit...

unless you tell me its a disorder, my comments stand. There is a difference between being simply gluttonous and being anorexic or bulemic.

Maltesers - light, and 'airy-fairy' - whereas Yorkie is a MANS chocolate!

I am saying its a disorder. Eating and making yourself sick is as abnormal as stuffing your face silly.

Just different end results.

Not that simple oxy. If you stuff your face silly to the extreme and nature of an a or a b, then it may well be a disorder. the q is, in a lot of cases, it simply is overeating just like not everyone who likes to eat less has a disorder.

Secondly, it may well help if you read/study about those disorders a bit. you vould well have compulsive eating .

Say you - your opinion.

I said it yesterday - massive hypocrisy by you and another poster on this subject. Feel sorry for those that want to eat - but are pressured into looking good - so vomit all the calories away YET MOCK those that you feel are gluttonous and only eat because they simply lack any self-control....

Again - thats what you think. And it's hypocrisy. I guess the plight of the 'fat bloke' isnt as 'sexy' as the female who aspires to be a size below whatever is considered fashionable...

No, massive lack of knowledge on your part. I am distniguishing between people who have disorders and people who just like to eat a lot . it would be insulting to compare the two.

No its not hypocrisy. I haven't even brought in the sexiness of one over another. I am merely saying that making fun of those with disorders is not kosher.

Again, you are falling into thetrap of labelling one extreme as a disorder, and another as simple greed! Thats what I call a 'massive lack of knowledge'

But you feel comfortable making fun of those who over-eat as opposed to 'under-eat' - you are a hypocrite!

You could call it whatever you want. I have never said there is no overeating disorder but merely overeating in itself is not a disorder, that is what I am trying to point out to you.

With all due respect, you arent a Doctor or a medical-man, so what you think or dont think is a 'disorder' holds no sway with me.

better a hypocrite than ignorant, eh?

Again, over-eating to the point it may be a disorder - I am not making fun of.
Under-eating to the point it may be a disorder - I am not making fun of.

Over-eating without it being a disorder - Yes.
Under-eating without it being a disorder - Yes.

Oxy™ said:

Not saying take my diagnosis, which I haven't even done. I am sugesting that if you feel you have an over-eating (compulsive something) disorder, you may do well to have it diagnosed.

A disorder generally has to reach criticial proporitions before it is qualified as one. Just because a man suspects his wife of cheating alone, doesn't make him clinically paranoid per se.

Under-eating without it being a disorder - Yes.

So before you make fun of people who over-eat, do ask the receipient of your 'abuse'' whether they have a disorder, or whether they are just fat, gluttnous *******?
