What's new

What was the last thing you ate?

Last night had Lamb Punjabi Pulao and Chicken Karahi :) with yogurts etc on side

Samosas and some chicken patty thing for iftari. I wasn't fasting but my dad was and I was hungry anyway as I had hardly ate anything all day. Also had some thing earlier from a cafe, it was like falafels, beetroot hummus, seeds, vegetables etc.

^^^Chinese food is actually quite good in Pakistan, best is the copied chicken soup with the gelatin during winters. Had my first in Muree and then many in Karachi.

This is actually from my favorite noodle place in Nashville.

Its Shoyu Tonkotsu made from pork broth, pork shoulder, ground chicken, beni shoga and a whole soy marinated egg. The drink on the side is also from my favorite local Sake place in Nashville called Proper Sake....its their sparkling sake with hints of peach and apple, just divine.

I am adding a bit of Korean chills paste to the mix.....heaven!

Achaar Chicken. Dad made it as mum is away currently as her mum is ill. It tasted pretty good, my dad made it despite fasting so obviously he wouldn't have been able to check if the seasonings etc were right but it was pretty good. He made some thai green curry too which was nice.

Washed down with Apple & Mango Juice. Yes , yes, cue all the "you ate juice" jokes...

what is that ? I mean is it achaar with chicken .

The best bit about cricket matches is the tea break. Cheese and pickle wraps, tuna sandwiches, crisps, pizza, cakes, cheese and onion rolls, fruits, biscuits, cereal bars etc. Only reason I play tbh, haven't won a game of cricket since May 2017

Last night while watching CL final, Chicken aloo biryani with achaar chicken :)

Grilled chicken cheese melt burger, apple pie and powerade. Was running late for Sehri 'cause I stayed out too long, so had to swing by a fastfood joint.

Came home, door was locked, everybody had gone to bed after Fajr... lol

Dinner last night some bihari boti, some thai red chicken curry with white rice.

Had White Chicken Karahi last night for dinner, had it with some rice & vegetables.

Butter chicken last night........

But without any butter.

Too much fat is bad for you

This reminds me of the joke. Jean-Paul Sartre goes into a Parisian cafe, and orders a coffee without sugar or cream.

“I’m sorry monsieur,” says the waiter. “We are out of sugar. How about coffee without cream?”

Yesterday , in cricket match in the tea break there was sandwiches, crisps, lots of cakes, some coconut flapjack things, fruits, samosas, onion bhajjis etc.

Then was invited to family iftar in evening and there were seekh kebabs, samosas, chaat, biryani, lamb karahi, saag paneer etc

For dessert was also stuff like Haagen Daz ice cream etc but I managed to avoid some of the junk food ;)

For lunch, brown rice + vegetables + kidney beanss with chinese chicken stir fry and yogurt.

Snack: Toast with cream cheese and cheddar and a toast with peanut butter, cinnamon and banana.

Had chicken aloo ka salaan last night (Chicken and Potato curry) with vegetable and kidney bean rice etc.

Made a cream cheese tomato vegetable salmon pasta sauce yesterday :)

Had a cricket match and was a standard cricket tea. Sandwiches, crisps, bhajjis, cheese and onion rolls, fruits etc. Also had the 2 classic biscuits there, custard creams and chocolate bourbouns for the first time in ages :)

Last night for dinner, neck of lamb biryani with yogurt. While watching some tv with family. Moments like that in life are good :)

And after cottage cheese with fruit chaat etc.

Mum made some chicken curry style sort of thing with courgette and peppers etc. Was so simple yet so nice, had it with brown rice and peas.

I just visit this thread because I’m jealous of DeadBall’s amazing culinary skills.

Look very tasty and healthy. How did you cook the cabbage?

Usually have to soak the cabbage in vinegar mixture but I buy an already soaked one from one of the local farmers who put a stall for fresh produce thrice a week. For cooking just fry some onions and garlic along with some black pepper and bay leaves and then cook the cabbage for 30-40 mins.

If you don’t mind, where did you learn to cook?

If you don’t mind, where did you learn to cook?

During College days where at the end of the month you had to make a somewhat gourmet meal at the end of the month to not remind yourself that you had spent all the money (which is more than enough for 2 months in Romania at the time) in 2 weeks.

Also my father was a very famous cook (not commercially but people came from far and wide when he cooked) and to me personally it is a way to relax, innovate and experiment. I have made many versions of "European" Kormas, Biryanis etc with time as they were pretty much inedible for or guests here. On the other hand I have also dabbled in giving local dishes a Desi touch which went down well pretty much.

The day I start making the same food everyday just because I have to, I will most certainly stop.

Apple and Pineapple

Wow great lunch I am having. :yk

(Cutting down carbs drastically, as can't go to gym regularly)

Wow!

That’s an amazing culinary background to have and the hard knocks of life.

Went Nandos last night to celebrate my birthday. Hummus and pitta, chicken, chips, rice with all the sauces. Can never go wrong with nandos :)
