What can we expect in 2019 for Pakistan cricket?

What will be the highs?

What will be the lows?

What do you expect to happen on the field and off the field?

What will be the successes?

What changes do you expect to see?

If you're feeling optimistic then: Pak reaching the final of the ICC World Cup 2019.

If you are a firm believer of Mamoonology (Dark Realism) then: "Pak crashing out of the world cup after failing to beat India leading to the end of Mickey and Sarfraz Ahmed". Not to forget Ehsan Mani appointing Mohsin Khan as Pak coach after the WC's debacle.

And low will be that whole PP will be fuming at Captain, Coach and Chief Selector for their selections and planning for test cricket.

10 odis against aus and eng heading into the world cup, at least pak got decent teams to prepare against.

Kohli retires from cricket after humiliating loss to Pakistan in WC 2019 final

One can hope :ashwin

Wouldn't surprise me if half of the bowlers are injured by then. Would be so typical Pakistan.

England asked other countries before pakistan if they want to play the 5 odis, all of them refused because they wanted their players to get some resting time.
Pakistan, knowing that their pacers' fitness is not the best, accepted it.
IDK if that was a very good move or not.

"Mohammad Amir's fiery spell inspires Pakistan to World Cup victory"

"Babar Azam, Mohammad Amir star as Pakistan lift the World Cup"

These 2 test series are an abomination. Hope Mani sticks to his word and at least converts the Australia tour to a 3 test series, won't be difficult. FTPs are quite flexible and it is up to the boards to tweak it around.

They can limit the damage by not allowing any pacer to play more then 3 ODI's. Rotate between Amir, Junaid, Shaheen , Hasan and Shinwari. All of them are pretty equal.

i think its a good move, no one forces you to play your first xi in each game, and even in each game no one forces you to bowl 10 overs.

playing 5 odis in england is excellent prep for the world cup imo. don't think any front line pacer should get fatigued bowling 30 odd overs over 2 weeks.

random injuries on the other hand are part and parcel of the game, pak has enough depth in bowlers to do ok. batters getting used to conditions is far more important.

“Pakistan batting legend Hafeez comes out of retirement to take on test captaincy”

“Pakistan Prime Minister gives pep talk to Pakistan team on eve of 2019 World Cup final “( typical politicians trying to get headlines , what do they know about cricket and World Cup finals :) )

England let the World Cup slip in last over twist.

Babar heroic World Cup efforts in vain as Pakistan crash out in the first round.

Sarfraz Ahmed quits as test captain.

Akmal brothers make international comeback.

Sharjeel, Fakhar make an explosive impact in Australia T20s.

Hafeez, Malik cancel press conference, hours after calling it.

Pakistan appoint ’X incompetent person’ as PCB chairman.

Umar Akmal involved in another altercation with a traffic warden.

Afridi riles up social media again after making controversial Kashmir statements.

I can imagine a mob throwing stuff like toilet paper at their team bus in Edgbaston after another world cup exit.

Hopefully shinwari can bowl upto 145kmph consistently.
His 151kmph looked proper fast. The batsman was bamboozled you could clearly see.
Maybe the BBL coaches are helping him a lot

Good we are losing matches now . Pakistan can get the cup home after 28 years
When not being considered as favourites

Lol the only reason people think we can win the WC is because of our so called unpredictability. Usually in past WCs we had that tag but we actually had the talent.

ODI cricket is about batting. Babar is the only consistent batsmen in our team. Most pitches will be batting shootouts,if that's the case we have no chance. Also the format of the WC means you have to be consistent for a long period of time. We don't specialise in consistency.

I don't see us winning the WC. I think getting to the semis will be a struggle if we select the line up I think we will. If there's changes to that line up ,anything is possible.

But if you think you can win the world cup with Sarfraz as your captain,Malik and Hafeez as your key finishers, I'm sorry the honest truth is that your an optimistic delusional fan.

There are a few things I'm looking for in the next few ODI series before WC.

We need to find an opener to partner Fakhar. I don't think Imam is the right option. Maybe he will improve.

Hafeez needs to go. Both him and Malik shouldn't be in the eleven together. Malik is the better batsman (statistically) and fielder. I'm not worried about Malik against pace. As long as he doesn't bat in the Top 4 (first 15 overs) it's all good.

Pakistan need to find a finisher. Asif Ali is not the answer and Sarfraz unfortunately will only manage 100-115 SR at #6. One of Imad, Faheem and Hasan have to step up and take that role.

Aside from that, the positives are Fakhar, Babar and the bowling.

The team isn't strong, but neither are the others. Which is why Pakistan can win the WC because it's wide open.

Couldn't agree any more with this.

Even though Babar Azam has generally been consistent in ODIs however what's more concerning with him is his lack of intent and the time it takes for him to get going. His role is to bat through the innings (like Kohli does expertly), so I don't expect him to be striking it at 95+. But the SR has been decreasing for a while now, so much so it has dipped under 85!

He's been playing ODIs for 3 years but from what he's shown, he is a support player at best i.e. contribute fruitful runs when those around him are carrying the side. This is one of the reasons why it is a one man army batting line up, since this side can only perform with the bat against the 5-6 sides if Fakhar fires. The reliance on one batsmen is why they will be doomed in the 2019 WC. It is such a shame we don't have Sharjeel in that top 3. Him and Fakhar would have combined well with each other and with Babar to give him that little head start that he needs.

If Pakistan are to have chance at challenging the WC, they need Babar to be able to take his batting up to the gears and Asif Ali to quickly overcome the learning curve of building an innings because I think he has some serious hitting ability. Also needs to improve against spin as well. Finally they need to get rid of the following dead fish from the pond:

Sarfraz
Hafeez
Shoaib Malik

The changes won’t be made. Malik and Hafeez will play. Inzi hasn’t dropped imam when he is out of form so I’m sure he will stick with him.

Other teams can score 300 plus scores, we can’t.

Babar Azam strike rate becomes an issue because we have no other power hitters. I would like for him to bat with more intent at times but if he gets out cheaply we may not last 50 overs. We need to replace Imam with another opener.

I don’t see inzi making changes to our LO team.

"AND PAKISTAN WINS THE 2019 WORLD CUP AFTER DEFEATING ENGLAND IN THE FINAL!"

Sarfraz is axed as Pakistan Test "Kaptaan"

PCB needs to increase that , Pakistan should be playing at least 10 test matches a year.

I wish we had a structure or something. England always has a 7 Test Match home summer. Then they play 5-8 away Tests as well. We need something like that, 6 Test Matches is outrageous.

Fortunetly/Unfortunetly (depending on your perspective) both are very highly likely. Pakistan is too unpredictable in cricket and I would feel that both outcome is a possibility. Don't be surprised leading to the WC, pak burns and crashes but then comes wc and they lift the cup like CT. You guys have the players and possess the skills, it all depends on how many decided to show up and perform on the given day.
