West Indies tour 2025 loading… Who deserves a spot in Pakistan’s squad?

Regardless what happens in 3rd T20, Pakistan will have some assessment to do with the current squad

I am not too sure why Hasan Ali was not selected this time around despite having a good series vs Bangladesh at home
Regardless the bowling was not the issue in this particular series it was truly the batters of Pakistan, and how they went about there gameplan (if any). They struggled on tough pitch, and this is not the first time we have seen this with the Pakistani team.

The approach of going hard and aggressive is great but at the same time you need to have plan B or C in case wickets are falling, in case ball is not coming to the bat and etc....being aggressive is not just about sixes and fours, its about finding ways to score the singles and doubles on pitches that are not easy. Pak should still have the aggressive mindset, and no one should play for milestones, but need to have a balance

I am not sure what squad they should go with for T20 or Odis, I do not think whole sale changes are needed but some changes will be required

I Think Babar and Rizwan or at least one will find a place in the T20 Squad and will be interesting to see how they will fit in this new Pakistan approach

Despite a disappointing series with Bangladesh (full credit) to them they played very well, I am still looking forward to the West Indies tour to see how Pak progresses from this.

Talat is better than Niazi, who still has some time go before he has the required game awareness for international level.

Why drop him when he hasn't even been given a chance? He has been the best LOI batsman in domestic cricket for quite some time now.

Hassan Nawaz did well in patches. He is good on good batting surfaces.

I think he should be given more chances.

They'll likely pick the same squad or make some minor changes replacing one hack with another. Get thrashed by a very average West Indies team and then panic to bring back the 'big names'. Ignoring the fact that the reason Pakistan struggle is because of a lack of talent overall and not just because the wrong players are being selected in the wrong format.

They should probably bring back Shaheen/Naseem and Wasim/Rauf if they are healthy. The batters can stay and deserve a longer rope. Pakistan needs to stop the constant chop & change. The batters have shown potential and they have also struggled, that happens. Give them time to get through their struggles.

Rizwan should be left out for sure. Maybe Babar can be included in the squad to be a backup opening option with Farhan & Saim. Fakhar IMO, is at his best when he is batting at 4 and his numbers show the same. I think that is where Fakhar should go back to batting when he can target spinners in the middle overs and doing so allows you to not be forced to play Khushdil/Talat with Agha at 5 & Hasan Nawaz at 6.

I'm of the opinion that we now select our best squad that we currently can. Cause there will be a few chopping and changes before Asia Cup and eventually WT20. Better to give the boys a run together so they start to gel as a team and the new captain.

I pity you because you give so much time to cricket without understanding the game at all.

Babar deserves a spot in Pakistan T20 XI but it's good he isn't selected for some series so we can try new players. If we find better players then there is no problem in dropping him altogether. But at the moment we are strugling to find some good players.
Overall, whoever we select, I feel this West Indies team will beat us on good batting pitches. My post was on cricket but for about 2-3 years you see Rizwan and Babar even in your dreams.

True but 99.99pct of T20 wickets around the world are flat tracks and in recent years many top international batsmen have failed in Bangla...

I'm not saying these guys are some extraordinary talent that must continue to be selected no matter what, just that they should get a consistent run in the side before being discarded.

Basically Ahmad Daniyal and Salman Mirza, the two guys who played really well get dropped. The bowlers where not the issue, this will damage there confidence Khushdil and Mohammad Nawaz dropped should be dropped I know Hussain Talat did not get much of a chance, but I know there is better options in Pak that Hussain Talat.

Regardless hopefully the team can perform well.

Thats a shame about the communication part I get Shaheen and Hasan are 1st choice, but Mirza still should have been selected as 3rd or 4th pacer

The logical decision that makes sense to me is to incorporate Abdullah Shafique in the Asia Cup squad. Technically sound player who can accelerate better than Babar / Rizwan. Will do well in UAE conditions….
