If I'm the one to select the 11 and give a batting order. I can stilll make this team to win the tournament or at least runners up.
My 11 in batting order against subcontinent teams.
Fakhar Azhar babar haris Sarfraz Malik fahim shadab Amir Hassan junaid.
Against other teams one change imad comes in for fahim.
You are delusional now.
With those changes, your team might bat a tad better and bowl a tad better (although Junaid can be really awful when it comes to being bad).
The other teams like SAffers, Australia and NZ would murder us with their batting and Pakistan won't even be able to play their fast bowling.
Runners up or win the competition

Babar should open, he sometimes waste too many deliveries getting set in the middle-order, he should play the role Amla does for SA. Farhan, Talat and Shadab can provide power hitting. Haris, Malik and Sarfraz to rotate strike with focus on keeping SR around 85-90 and above.
With the bowling you have balance with three seamers - two who can swing the ball and one tall quick who can hit the deck hard and extract bounce from a good length. You have the off-spin of Salman and the leg-spin of Shadab who was one of the few who can hold their head up high after India match.
Making the same mistake again like the pakistan selectors.
Your top 6 are all top order players. They mostly play in top order in their domestic teams. You have sloted them out of their natural positions just because they are promising or they have scored runs in domestic. We have to Pick players for specific roles based on their positions in their domestic teams. For example if your team is lacking a number 6 batsman, you cant pick the highest run getter in domestic one day cup and slot him at 6 if he plays at 4 or 3 in his domestic team.
Also, Babar can simply not be moved from 3 now that he has settled there. It would be a massive risk and he failed last time he was tried as an opener.
Shadab too is nowhere ready/strong enough to be a reliable hitter at 7. He is too young and weak to do that. By the time he is 22 he can do that job. Needs to put on muscle.
See my post earlier in the thread. That would be a better team i think.
Shadab is a proper batsman and he can hit - he hasn't had the chance to show his batting abilities at 8 with only few overs to spare. He won't have any issues at 7.
As for batting positions, I'm tired of hearing this excuse. If you are a good enough batsman you should be able to adapt to whatever role asked of you. For the sake of the team some players will have to move away from their preferred positions. Babar opened for Karachi in PSL and did fine. Hussain Talat played in all sorts of different positions in Pakistan Cup but was mainly at 5 or 6, in PSL he opened, in Under 23 Cup he both opened and batted in lower order.
Neither Fahim or Yamin are good enough with the ball for internationals unless the latter bowls with the new ball (but even the white Kookaburra does nothing). Fahim got whacked in the warm-up and let's not get carried away by his innings vs Bangladesh as his List A record is very poor averaging 15. However Fahim was the leading wicket-taker in the Departmental One Day Cup so willing to give him a chance.
See i get what you are saying but you also have to look at the ability of the players. Pakistani top order players arent like top order players of other teams who can fit in any position. Example rohit sharma can bat at 1 and also at 6 because he has the ability to score boundaries at will. Pakistani top order players have limited ability and techniques and they can only play in the top order. If u try to fit them in lower order, they will disapoint you and thats what is happening. Why not try something different and pick players as per their batting positions in their domestic teams? It wont kill us to do something different for once when the traditional approach isnt working.
I picked yamin as a batsman who can bowl. I dont intend to make him bowl 10 overs. He has the batting ability to be a proper number 6. Faheem i picked at 7 because he showed the ability to score quick against pacers and hit sixes. I know stats dont support him but perhaps its still early days for him? He has a great FC record as a batsman from what i heard. Not to mention we have eyes to see how he plays, stats can mislead too. Also i didnt mean that we necessarily have to pick just him. I wrote " or any reliable hitter" against his name. If there is anyone else, he must be welcomed.
I have seen enough of shadab's batting to tell you that he has immense potential to be a big hitter. His hitting technique is very good. Its all natural ability. The problem is he is too weak bodily. Once he gets into his 20s and puts on more muscle, he will be unstoppable. Perhaps the first genuine leg spinning allrounder. Right now, i'm sorry he wont be able to hit pacers out of the park at death.
I hear you but even in domestic there is so much chopping and changing with batting positions. Hussain Talat played top, middle and lower order in Pakistan Cup.
