What would you deem a good Champions Trophy for your team and who are you supporting after them?

At the very least, it would be a good Champions Trophy for Pakistan so long they give their 100%:ik2 and put on an entertaining show for the fans from my perspective! Oh and defeat the Indians! more important then anything else :steyn:afridi

I want Pakistan to win and will be supporting them but if they crash out then I'd love for England, West Indies or Bangladesh to triumph.

By the sounds of it, the squad sounds absolutely awful so any hopes have been pretty much obliterated. Despite this, I would be satisfied with competitive efforts in every game with some eye-catching performances from youngsters. At least that would provide some hope for the future.

Good post, I hope for the same! don't really have high expectations generally given the state of our ODI team for the past 6 years or so
 
Pakistan to somehow win with the likes of Sehzahad , Azhar, professor and riaz failing badly

realistically i expect to be embarrassed, but i hope the above mentioned players are the ones who get it the most so we can finally be rid of them
 
Realistically speaking, we don't really have a chance to win the damn thing so I'd be happy as long as they don't get humiliated like the last CT. :))) Also agree with the OP, if they beat India, we won't care about anything else. :afridi
 
Progressing out of the group would be a good achievement. Realistically I only see us winning 1 of 3 group fixtures.

We ought to beat Sri Lanka and we did beat South Africa the last time we met in an ICC tournament.

At the very least, we need to see that we're going in the right direction in ODIs but I hold my breath with the squad rumoured.
 
Ideally, we should aim to beat Sri Lanka and beat either South Africa or India, because once you get to the semifinals, it becomes a game of fine margins. However, I have no expectations from this team so I am only looking forward to seeing them compete well. As long as they lose respectably and show that they are ready to fight, it will be a step in the right direction. Anything more than that will be a bonus.

After Pakistan, I will obviously be supporting England.
 
Not going is the best.

Realistically dont care about beating anyonein particular but making it to semis should be the goal.

I will stick to what I said: It will be between India , Pakistan and SA for two slots.

If Australia doesn't win it is an irrelevant mickey mouse competition and who cares who wins?

The team which has Hafeez and Azhar as openers don't deserve to win anything. Anyways let's wait for squad.
 
Looking forward to it man. As always, supporting Pakistan to win it. Will be sad if we lose all three matches. I think we can make the semi-finals.

My second team is Bangladesh.

New Zealand as always, are the dark horses.
 
Expect Pakistan to beat Sri Lanka, anything less will be outright embarrassing...

Second team is NZ, hope they humiliate aussies, 3rd would be England.

Thanks to Misbah and Azhar for reducing our ODI team to such minnows that we now are happy if we salvage a solitary victory :facepalm:


Im from the 90s generation and anything less than semis was a cause for protests. This is completely unacceptable.



Thankfully we have revolutionary folks like Inzi and Mickey who will turn the ship around. #sarcasm
 
Definitely supporting India to defend its title. But if not, would be quite stoked to see SAF take it.
 
Why would Pakistanis support Bangladesh? Ridiculous.

Obviously any major nation that doesn't win will be disappointed.

Yeah I'd take losing even if it meant we were trying something different and blooded some young faces.

Instead we have several of the culprits from the 2013 CT debacle STILL playing yet expecting different results ! Madness ! So I'm disappointed with Inzy/Arthur with lack of ruthlessness in selections and giving free ride to seniors.

However if we do qualify for the SFs or final, I hope you'd change your signature to "I love Inzy: the greatest selector of all time" :P

Very Tough man. See their group. They could be dark horse if they would in other group. And they haven't played in eng many many years. Still i hope they can do shock the world by going into semis. Best of luck to them. Actually NZ realistically can be dark horse.

They tend to fancy themselves in England and have beaten both AUS and ENG in England, and that BD team wasn't even as strong as the current one

Agree. I believe if bd players can play to their potential then they can now beat any team anywhere in the world. Hope they play like that. The tri series would hint how good they can do in CT. Hope the win tri series before CT .
 
Anything less than qualifying for the final would be a disappointment.
Or,

if Steyn/Starc wit their ferocious bowling could injure Hafeez, Azhar Ali and Akmal so bad they are out of cricket for the next five years, it would be a bigger win for Pakistan than Champions Trophy!
 
For some reason, I am actually hoping that India pulls out. This power-struggle to me is far more interesting than Cricket matches.

In case we pull out, I'll be supporting BD. Them growing bigger will be a major help in ICC meetings. :srini

Agreed. Pakistan can not lose here. We either do well or we do poorly and it is the end of Hafeez Wahab Junaid etc
 
Expecting Pakistan to crash out in group stage, might beat Sri Lanka. Obviously if Pak don't make it England will be my team

BD Growing bigger as cricket team won't help much in that matter bro. I hope ind don't pull out. It would be disaster to the tournament.
 
Then reports for the Squad don't seem great but I still hoping we can do well.

After Pakistan I'm always gonna support South Africa as long as AB De Villiers is there! :ab

I fully expect at the very least 3 9fers and 2 6fers from the fish, wait no goldfish Mustafizur Rahman. Too good a talent not to.

I'm supporting England but I want Pakistan to make the semi finals. Would be amazing with their horrendous squad.
 
If not Pakistan, then South Africa. If not even South Africa, then I hope the remainder of the tournament is rained off.
 
A good Champions Trophy? Making it to the semis at least. Can't have such low standards.

Who am I supporting after Pakistan? No point of even stating that because it's quite obvious that Pakistan is going to win this tournament. :shehzad

However I do hope that asides from Pakistan, South Africa puts up a good show (i.e. edge India out to make it to the semis).

Extremely disappointed with the squad but I'm hoping great individual performances. I'm hoping Babar Azam knocks up a couple of centuries and makes it count on the big stage.
 
My favourite team is Pakistan for the obvious reasons.
After Pak,my favourite team is Bangladaesh.They have some young exciting prospects-Taskin,Fizz,Somayay,Tamim.And people are underrating Mossadek.He is a top prospect.
The only thing that Bangla lack is confidence.
 
After Pakistan, I support England. Can't even think of supporting Bangladesh even though I respect their recent form.
 
I'd love to see South Africa winning tbis time. Want AB and Hash to win atleast one ICC Silverware before they retire.

Supporting Pakistan first, because well I am a Pakistani. If they are eliminated, Bangladesh, because it was once Pakistan. If Bangla is eliminated, India, because Pakistan was once India. If India is eliminated, England because they ruled over us, sucked our resources, and if they win, we can safely say that some portion of the usurped resources was responsible for their win.
 
Well.... East or west... India is the best. And for me Pakistan is my 2nd most liked team. So its really enjoyable to watch a clash between them... But I hope India prevails after a tough game :)

Thats what they do bro. But they are not our teachers.

We have always believed that its all about picking the right players and rooting out nepotism. Everything else will fall in place. You have been at the forefront of suporting the team. Its just the beginning. Still few TTFs to throw out.

Am fasting brother superstitions are haram :inzi and that was all light hearted banter mate :) I was very excited to see a pakistan v india game, despite that loss my intuition said we would reach final plus we did not play at our best. Now this is a final and anything can happen but with you guys being the favourites but am still satisfied with my team for getting us this far and it's something am proud of, may the best team win my friend
