Those who have been following these two know very well how talented they are, but the opportunities haven’t been consistent enough for them to build momentum and confidence.

Hussain Talat, despite batting lower down the order, looked quite confident and even won us a match we were on the verge of losing.

The way the ball spins out of Mehran’s hand is a unique proposition—especially among the current crop of Pakistan spinners. Hopefully, both of them get a consistent run in the future.

You can't accommodate everyone in the side. If they perform they will get a chance.

what has hussain talat done right? played nearly 20 t20is, and never looked threatening in any way. mehran is young and will get a chance eventually, however hes done nothing special to warrant a place yet. hes way way behind in the pecking order.

Hussain talat is a poor batsmen. Can't play pace or spin.
Nonsense.

Talat is a better T20 batsman than Salman Agha who is the captain. I’ve seen both play plenty of cricket at domestic level. I firmly believe Talat is a better T20 batter than Agha, Babar, Rizwan, Saud and Kamran Ghulam for the middle order role.

Mehran Mumtaz on the other hand has attitude issues.

This guy isn’t an easy person to control on the field and God knows what he’s like behind closed doors in the dressing room. It’s ok to be passionate but you need to know your limits too with the captain and your teammates. He gets over enthusiastic out there!

I agree, Talat looks to me a solid batter and better than all you listed with the exception of Babar . Agha is a weak link in Pakistan batting line up, not sure what exactly he is doing in T20 team.

Not agha. Agha has reinvented himself. He improves day by day in international. That's what sets him apart.

The others suck in t20 though. Saud, Rizwan and Babar are honestly a tragedy. Maybe Bradman should stay in the 1930's if such comparisons are being made.

You can believe what you want. The fact is talat is a poor man's shoaib Malik when it comes to playing pace. The guy can't play pace and is very limited. His game against spin ain't much better either. Scoring runs in domestics against larkana etc is different from international cricket.

Agree with you + he has shown that he excels when the team is in trouble or struggling hence ideal for lower middle order after Hasan Nawaz.

Seems like there r quite a few newbies on this site these days;)

But is that not the exact attitude that makes stars in Pakistan cricket!

Forget attitude for a sec, what about the consistent talent he has shown? Whenever I see him bowl, he is amongst wickets and turns the ball each and every game regardless of the wicket and the ball fizzing out of his hand is a treat too.

Bhai it’s ok for us as viewers to watch some wild guy behaving like it’s a war…

From an admin pov it’s not ideal. It’s the admin issue that can cause issues for the player. You need particular captains who know how to handle these types of individuals.

Being aggressive to win the game and being aggressive towards your own team environment are two very different things.

All those who haven't done wrong and are part of present team , they have done all the wrongs in last couple of years.

Talat is mediocre. He is decent against spin but lacks talent to play pace. Completely useless selection in this squad as he is not suited to t20s at all.

Mehran has potential but he needs to change his team in PSL to get more chances. He is competing with Nawaz who isn't easy to replace.

How we doing with one of my picks Husain Talat, where are the nay sayers now - he just won us a second time from a losing position!!??

Now get Mehran too.

Talat is just better than Khushdil atm.. That is his level... If we think that replacing Hasan Nawaz was the right decision, when you earlier made him the most important player, then we are going in the opposite direction... Talat played a good run-a-ball knock, which was required, and this makes him more suited for ODIs. He is not a T20 product.

but without that "not a T20 product" the team would have lost the game and would have been headed home by now, can you now see the importance of such gritty players in your team!?

Successful teams possess a healthy combo of flair, flamboyance, smarts and grit to fill all necessary gaps that define a successful team in the long run.
