What's the fuss about drop-in pitches?

I am feeling a lot of disturbance in the force regarding this topic and also the fact that we could get these in the NZ series so what is the issue here? Is this the first time a drop-in pitch has been used in history in Melbourne? Why the noise?

Because drop-in pitches lead to awfully boring cricket most of the time.

They are fine for ODI or T20 cricket in dual purpose stadiums but tend to be a little slow and stay very much the same all 5 days which can make for a poor test surface. Pakistan wont be on one for any of the ODIs but first two T20s will be drop ins.

There is only really a fuss about it because the boxing day test is Aussie crickets biggest match every year.

If it is like the drop-in pitches that India recieved in 2003 entire test could be over in 2 days. Another thing is whoever bats last will have distinct advantage. So much so whoever bats first is pretty much out of the game from the get go.
