I always wonder why he is so successful

From mediocre player to becoming one the greatest cricketer, bowler, allrounder and a legendary captain of Pakistan.

Built 3 cancer hospitals to treat poor people for free when everyone thought it's impossible in a country like Pakistan.

Started his politics in 1996 as a one man party and now after 22 years og struggle he is party is going to rule Pakistan and he is going to be Prime Minister.

Breaking the status-quo. Made PPP irrelevant and who had thought Sharifs will be in jail?

Cricketer: Good diet, strong work ethic and hard work.

Legendary captain: Took hard decisions. Kept his faith in Inzi, 2Ws and himself.

Cancer hospitals: He was very hurt after his mother's death. The fact that they had to travel outside Pakistan for cancer treatment impacted him. So, he used his fame and connections to get finances from all around the world and built these hospitals.

Politics: Don't forget he was physically assaulted by goons and bled on camera but he kept on and on...

That there is a self made man, who used all that Lord blessed him with to his best capacity and maintained discipline.

Inspiration personified.

Politics: army.

Its funny how if the same crap took place agaisnt PTI they would had cried rigging and now its free fair election.

Results were given on normal paper and not even on form 45. Polling agents bring asked to leave

Hard work and persistence. I have been an Imran Khan supporter for approx 12 years and I am tired. The guy himself has been at it for 22 years. No other national leader (past or present) has had to go through this much.

ZAB was foreign minister during Ayub Khans time and 2 years after that was able to become PM.

Nawaz born in the hands of General Zia.

Benazir was ZABs daughter.

He is self made as politician. Pakistan is lucky that they will be getting such a hard working guy as their PM.

There are five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. #justsaying

Army made sure he suffers on roads, courts (even jail) for 22 years and than gave him everything on a plate?

We need to understand that his success in philanthropy and political career is a function of his success as cricketer.

Also, it is a myth that he was a mediocre player who worked hard to become the legend that he was.

You cannot be a world class player at the highest level unless you have an abundance of natural talent. Hard work alone will not take you anywhere.

Imran isn’t the only hard working player in history, and thousands of players must have worked harder than he did.

He was a very talented player and his hard worked unlocked his talent.

As far as his cancer hospital is concerned, it would not have been possible without his success as a cricketer. A common man is neither going to get a free land from the government, and nor will he have the clout to collect enough donations.

Imran was at the peak of his popularity when he started to project, and he was able to collaborate with leading doctors in Pakistan and got a lot of media coverage.

His success as a cricketer and his philanthropy played a huge role in his success as a politician. Yes it took him 22 years of struggle, but it would have taken him a lifetime without his success as a cricketer, which was a launching pad for his success in other ventures.

He is not a miracle worker, but he deserves credit for his ambition and dedication. He has used his popularity and success as a cricketer to good use instead of taking the easy route and getting involved in coaching, commentary etc.

Throughout his life from a cricketer to a politician has has always followed his passion. And like all successful people in history he believes in this quote from Friedrich Nietzsche:
"That which does not kill me makes me stronger."

I agree with you bro.

Hardwork and some luck.

Many work hard. Very few succeed. Even among the ones who succeed, a small fraction of them have the additional motivation and extra luck to reach the pinnacle.

Imran Khan is known to be the only cricketer in Test history to have totally changed his bowling action and going from a medium pacer to a genuine fast one.

As for his all-rounding abilities, his Man of the Series rate, 8 out of 28, is also the best ever, mainly with the ball, but even with the bat (India 1986/1987) or both (England 1982 & India 1982/1983).

There are not many cricketers who have turned around their fate like that : if anything, in Pak alone you have a dozen of cricketers who had all the "natural talent" but didn't capitalize on it, because they lacked (his) work ethics.

persistency and hard work plus natural abilities as Mamoon said.

Honor!

This can bring the best out of you. He put the honor of the country first before anything, remained steadfast and God rewarded him. The charismatic personality that he has was the icing on the cake.

Long Live our Leader of New Pakistan

A personality trait called industriousness.

He is probably in the top 0.1 percentile in the world for this trait.

Add this extreme industriousness with a high self worth (some would call it arrogance) and a purpose to do good then you have Imran Khan.

Heres a quick example, a person who rates extremely high in industriousness would not be posting on pakpassion they would be building the next pakpassion and make it better. They would not be discussing politics on boards or with friends they would be on the streets protesting or looking to run for candidacy.

Basically doers rather then talkers.

That's a very simplistic way to look at things and understandable as well as it's your job being a critic. Amazing how same people would consider Zulfiqar Bhutto as greatest leader after Mr Jinnah despite knowing his affiliation with Ayub Khan.

I wasn't even born when Bhutto was killed by Zia and not even my distant relatives supported Bhutto (in fact most around me were Zia admirers). Since then i have learnt Bhutto was indeed one of our greatest and Zia was one of worst things that happened to us.

But if i use your glasses to judge people then i would just consider Bhutto as Dictator's right hand who was greedy for power and broke Pakistan.

Imran's political life is full of struggles, determination, honest intentions and not short cuts and personal greed for power

This!
I have come across so many highly qualified, intelligent people who i thought would set the world on fire and they had the capability as well but they couldn't even run a Pakistan association due to criticism, infighting and accusations.

I wanted Imran Khan to leave Pakistan and patch up with Jamima so he could enjoy his life with his kids but i just don't understand what kept him going for such a long time where he lost his married life, family, personal attacks, blackmailing & NO PERSONAL BENEFITS. And then people think he is here because of help from hidden hands

This is an accurate description of Khan's personality.

I agree with you bro.

Do you guys realize that creating strong institutions is one of the core jobs of the government in power? What was stopping the Noon government from creating a crystal clear electoral process? I'd like to know the reasons.

As if anyone here can explain.

Best post in the thread Chief.

None denying that..

And there is a reason why he was able to change his action successfully - he had immense natural talent which he complimented by working very hard.

How many bowlers will be able to be successful by changing their actions? Hard work alone doesn’t take you anywhere, but of course neither does talent.

Imran Khan was not your average joe who became a world beater because he put in hours and hours of practice. Sure he may not have been a Wasim Akram, but he was still more talented than 99% of the cricketers.

Don't forget his good looks if he wasn't good looking he would not be as successful in philanthropy or his politics as no matter how much people deny people do judge a book by its cover.
