I was searching up on ZamZam water, i wanted to ask, whats the source of the water itself?
Does it come from a waterbody or not? Because considering the quantity of its consumption, the water can't last unless it comes from a waterbody.

According to wikipedia, the water is sourced from a nearby valley. If so, than wouldn't the water from the same valley be considered as Zamzam aswell?

How come Zamzam’s well is never depleted?

The water in Zamzam’s well in Mecca is not depleted because the reservoir is connected to renewable groundwater, so it won’t dry up except under specific conditions, geology professor, Abbas Sharaqi said.

Zamzam's water is renewable water. The source of water comes from the rain in Mecca. Mecca is a mountainous area and so one of the valleys contains the valley of Ibrahim that holds Zamzam’s well in a low-land area.

The professor explained that there are 14 meters of river deposits caused by rainwater on mountains that fall into the lowlands and turn into sediment. This process took millions of years to create the 14-meter well of Zamzam.

At the very bottom, there are rocks that gather causing the well to have a total depth of 35 meters, 14 meters of sediment and 21 meters inside the rocks.

With the rainfall and storage process, water is renewed. Water in Zamzam’s well is used as the pilgrim’s drinking water and drinking water is not used at a rate like, for example, water for agriculture.

The geology professor expressed that Egypt has wells similar to that of Zamzam that can store and take in water, making it renewable.

Zamzam’s well has been used for 4,000 years, this makes us think that if there will be no rain in Saudi Arabia, the water will be depleted.

However, considering that climate conditions are stable and unchanging, the well can continue as it is.

It's the spring itself ... Is a spring water.

so if the water is renewable, than can it be claimed that its normal rain water? Or does it really have some power as many claim due to it being a miracle?

Of course it is just normal water with no special properties and qualities.

The type of people who think it has special healing powers are the same people who think cancer can be treated with pure honey.

How would you know? Have you been to Saudi and drank the pure Zam Zam?

I went for Hajj in 2002 and drank Zamzam.

Moreover, in Pakistan, the tradition is that when your relatives or friends go for Hajj, they bring gifts. A bottle of Zamzam water is a common gift.

It is just regular water and it’s significance is because of Prophet Ismail and his mother. The water itself does not have any special properties.

If you believe that it does and is not normal water, can you please share links to scientific studies and papers that have concluded that Zamzam water has special characteristics?

What health benefits does Zamzam water provide that you cannot get from regular, pure, clean water?

Can you provide references to a list of diseases and illnesses that have been cured with Zamzam water?

There are multiple world class hospitals in Makkah that provide state-of-the-art treatment. The KAMC is the largest hospital in Makkah and has one of the largest departments of oncology in the Gulf region.

Why are they spending billions on treatment when they can treat patients with the magical curing abilities of Zamzam?

As a physician - do you believe in the power of dua?

If so, then you dont need to search for worldly definitions of what Zam Zam can or cannot do.

If not, you are right as I dont think drinking 2 gulps of Zam Zam will cure you of diseases based upon scientific research.

Dua will not save you from death or will not cure you from an incurable disease.

When you have 4th stage cancer and the doctors give you 8 months to live, will dua make the cancer go away? Certainly not.

Medical miracles do happen and when they do, we call it the power of dua. However, these miracles happen for atheists as well.

In recent years, a new tradition has emerged in Pakistan where you are suppose to drink Zamzam while facing Makkah

When people go for Hajj/Umrah, they also touch the kaabah and then rub their hands all over their bodies.

They also carry a small scissor in their pockets and try to cut the black cloth from kaabah which they use to cover the eyes of dead bodies.

In Hajj, people literally fight with each other to get a chance to kiss the stone.

This is the state of Muslims today. Then they mock followers of Hinduism and other religions for following rituals.

I know what the tradition is and i have also been to Hajj very recently. For me the Zam Zam water is more of spirtual cleansing of the body and soul. Only Allah knows the powers of Zam Zam, and its interesting that you ask for scientific proof of its miraculous powers, which you know dont exist in the scientific sense. If those evidences existed, the whole World would become Muslims. If you feel it doesnt do anything for you, then dont drink it. I always find that people that jump up and down most to look clever on these things are the ones that lack any faith. Religion after all is an article of faith in the Unseen.

Think you are missing the point of Dua.

It's not specific.

I urge you to read Surah Yaseen and focus on one verse where it says "Kun fa ya kun"

Medical miracles happen - but its down to you as an individual to accept or reject based upon your own beliefs.

Btw I am addressing you as a Muslim so will not go into the convenient segue into a Muslim v Atheist debate

In my own family we had people that had something. I dont know what it was but late Mum had something, she would touch people with her toe and those people who had what we call in pothwari chook, i think in English they may call it a trapped nerve( i maybe wrong), would make a recovery. I was always a sceptic and after she passed away, someone came to me to read fatiha, said it was a great loss for him. I asked him straight out about this thing she supposedly had, i thought it was placebo. The guy said that only he knew the pain he was in and what her toe could do. Allah knows best.
Also My father in law would read some ayats from Koran and would help to kill the pain from burns. He lived in Southall in the 60s and someone once said to him " Hajji you could make a fortune here" as he had people coming to him all day for various forms of ailments. His reply was that if i take a penny, Allah will take whatever he has given me. Now if someone said do you have scientific proof, well obviously not.

Faith is faith.

If you can believe in Allah (Swt), his angels, jinns, heaven/hell, life after death, miracles of the prophets etc., you can also believe that Zamzam has special powers.

However, when you try to prove the above, you will be asked to provide proof which you and no one has.

That is why don’t come on the front-foot and make statements like “how do you know” in response to someone asserting that Zamzam is just regular water, because if you do that, you will have to provide evidence and not hide behind the “it is my faith” cop-out which is what you predictability did.

"Be, and it is" (كن فيكون kun fa-yakūnu) is a phrase that occurs several times in the Quran, referring to creation by Allah. In Arabic the imperative verb be (kun) is spelled with the letters kāf and nūn.

Basically it denotes the omnipotence of ALLAH swt

If He so wishes, ANYTHING Can happen - including what we call medical miracles.

Zam Zam holy water concept reminds of Holy Ganga water in India.

Do you believe in evolution?

i think every religion or culture has a version of this.

If medical miracles were real, they would be real and work but they dont, maulana tariq jameel can do dua on the ill but how many have recovered because of his duas. the piou of piou people can not save themselves with dua.

This is a concept that has been used for mullahs to cash in, especially the pirs, no such thing actully exists in the quran.

Every religion has similar ideas.

Roman Catholics consider the water from the Spring of Massabielle in France to be sacred. Sikhs believe that the water from the natural spring at Gurudwara Nank Jhira Saheb in Bidar, India, is holy.
