Daniel Haqiqatjou was born into a Persian secular family but during his studies (physics and philosophy at Harvard) he came back to Islam.

He's known as a critique of modernity in general and of liberalism and feminism in particular.

He's got a large YouTube channel (+200k subscribers) that is growing fast with numerous videos about these subjects, his most popular videos being the "Genius of Islam" series, where he criticizes atheism, polytheism and so on.

Wonder if anyone here follows his work ?

I watched a couple of his videos, very smart chap. But tbf it isnt too hard to critique modern liberalism, arguably the worst ideology in human history.

Im sure there are many things I disagree with him but its nice to see a person not be scared by the woke political correctness and says as he sees it.

I agree.

Modern day liberalism has a very weak foundation. Any normal person should find radical liberalism unappealing.

What would be your criticism of him for example ?

Interested.

He may have some points against far left propagated feminism. But he is a fundamentalist and a borderline nutjob.

Radical liberalism is what fights against Islamophobia in the west. If not for them, Rightwing would demonize Muslims to no end.

Spends too much time attacking other Muslims esp scholars. As a Muslim he should have a discussion with them first before dismissing them.

eg. He saw Hamza Yusuf sitting with members of other faiths and claims they are secularising the faith. which of course is nonsense. He has his own sect/views but needs to accept there are so many Muslims and concentrate on what unites all Muslims so all can defend their faith and lives for that matter.

Where do you live in the west and please provide an example of what you've seen in this regard?

It is not as simple as that. Not all "right-wingers" hate Muslims.

Some Conservatives are extreme but many are not.

Radical liberals are irritating to both right-wingers and Muslims. I am sure you know what Islam's position is on LGBTQ, for example.

The entire Hollywood is in bed with woke/radical left. The same Hollywood that defends Islam. As an example,
search youtube about how Ben Affleck defends Islam.

Ben Affleck :))) Gold

So you dont live in the west and haven't seen anything apart from watching Hollywood. Great.

If some of them defend, that's good.

But, that doesn't mean Islam supports their lifestyle. They promote indecency, immoral behaviors, LGBTQ etc. All of these are not compatible with Islam.

Islam is Islam. It is not about right or left.

I don't like him.

He seems part of the new age youtubers that attack others rather than bring anything of substance to the table.

The vast majority of his videos are attacks on other scholars. In these confusing times where many youth are losing connection to the deen then I don't think this strategy is correct. Just seems like non-stop mockery for likes.

However, I have some sympathy towards him because of the stuff that his family went through, it would be enough to shake anyone to the core and I think thats perhaps part of the reason for his confrontational approach.

His criticism regarding feminism and liberalism is spot on. I have watched alot of his debates and he always takes a fact based approach backed by sources. Thats a great quality to have in a debater.

I like his debates against ex muslims, Christians and liberals. He is unapologetic and does a good job when attacking his opponents’ frames of reference.

However I do not like his behaviour towards other muslim scholars and preachers. He employs a tabloid style approach towards criticising them and assumes the worst of them.

I wish he had stuck to debating ex muslims and liberals.

Frankly if I want to watch a Muslim vs other debate I wath sf dawah in the uk or I'll watch sheikh uthman in balboa park. They don't go around criticising other scholars in a bad way and just debate..

I'm done with Muslims who bad mouth some of our scholars. In the end you'll be left with the donkeys with books on their backs..no thanks..

Yeah, personal freedom from tyranny, right to choose your own leaders. terrible idea.

You are just hung up on LGBTQ. Far left support everything that rightwing opposes. LGBTQ is the only issue far right Christian groups and Muslims have in common. Right wing does not want Muslims or any minority in their lands. They do not want Muslims as they compete with them in proselytizing people while criticizing Christianity.

Islam is becoming more popular among the right wing. Several prominent right wing figures like Joram Van Klaveren, Arthur Wagner, Sneako and Andrew Tate have converted to Islam.

It doesn't mean we should team up with those who support LGBTQ and other un-Islamic positions.

I don't think Christianity is a big thing in western countries any more, nobody over here thinks about proletysing religion in such a way. The far right don't like Muslims it's true, but then they don't like Hindus either, just not as easy to go after them ( yet).

Extremism of any form or fashion is bad, whether it is right wing or left wing. This dude sounds like an extremist.

You can call him fundamentalist, but not an extremist though for liberals, anyone criticizing their ideology is considered an extremist.

These ideas were around for thousands of years. Liberalism is mainly about desires, allowing a person to carry out all sort of immoral acts even if it means harming society. Its destructive to the family system. The chap Daniel makes good points on this subject, please watch his videos even though they may harm your long life view.

They were not, or at least they made no difference if they were. The world was ruled by despots. Then a group of European philosophers said it didn't have to be that way and people could have power too. It took a long time to change, because of all the monied vested interests. There was some unpleasant stuff that came with it such as slavery and denying the rights of American natives, and it took another 200 years to properly sort that out.

As for "desires" - John and Harriet Stuart Mill propounded the Harm Principle - a person's liberty stops where it begins to infringe on that of another.

You wrote right to choose your own leader, personal freedom.

The Agrarians developed methods which included these, they were around 10,000 years ago.

Its very arrogant for Europeans to think history started with them. :))

group of Europeans to save the world. Bravo!!! just about every problem in the world can be traced back to Europeans, colonialism and their greed for money, power and willingness to play with others' lives for that. But thanks, I guess, we are all enlightened due to these philosophers.

Oxymoron.

Any fundamentalist movement is extremist by definition. I know its hard for muslims or pakistanis in particular to reconcile the two because we on one hand we are always preachy preachy about being good Muslims and yet we love to play, sing and dance to bollywood music at our weddings.

Fundamentally, ALL RELIGIONS and their followers fall on the extremist spectrum. And i dont think I need to tell you why. "IF YOU DONT DO THIS, YOU WILL GO TO HELL" there is no middle ground in most cases.

You've been watching too much CNN.

This is a belief which is not extremist.

Here is the definition from Oxford.

"political, religious, etc. ideas or actions that are extreme and not normal, reasonable, or acceptable to most people"

The idea of hellfire or paradise is acceptable to most.

Btw arent you a Muslim? If so by your own definition you are an extremist?

Plus abortion

THats very typical of zealots, pivot towards the canned puns about CNN and liberalism and wokeism and this and that but always shy away from the pertinent point and always forget to answer the main question. Quoting western intellectual references when their interpretation fits your points and bashing them the rest of the time as liberals, heretics, hypocritical.
Been there done that, sell that crap to someone else.

Sure ignore that and rant.

But You're a Muslim so a bit silly to claim you're an extremist. Watch out FBI will coming knocking :))

Most of us have to put up with your rants here on the TP forum so I think its ok if once in a while you have to read someone else's.

ON a serious note, since you are so familiar with Oxford, look up the word "Agnostic". Dont be shy now, its not a medical term, its not the name of a vaccine or anything. So just look it up.

Came here to say that I don’t condone him badmouthing other scholars, and it’s what turned me away from watching his work.

It’s sad when these YouTube Muslim personalities get a following and then start talking smack about others in the same space.

All that knowledge and you’re missing such a basic fundamental to not create fuss, drama and gossip among the Ummah.

Mufti Menk and Ahmed Deedat for me is the gold standard as far as the current batch of knowledgeable folk about the deen go. Also MercifulServant also has some fantastic videos about Quran wrt to historical context. The one about Pharoah / Firawn gave me goosebumps.

PS: only found out last year that from what we know about archaeology and history, Rameses II was Firawn. Allahu A’lam

My apology, I assumed you were Muslim but you're agnostic. It clarifies a lot of your posts and views, good luck. :)

M Hijab also is incredibly knowledgeable, and the only person on YouTube in this space whose rare dramaybaaz antics I’m willing to filter out at times to get to the top tier videos.

what do you know, congrats on a successful use of keyboard, mouse and the dictionary. BRAVO!
I guess there is still hope in this world! lol

I was going to show empathy and let you go but perhaps not.

Please explain in detail why anyone who believes in hell and heaven is an EXTREMIST? Please use all resources you wish inc CNN.

It doesn't mean we should team up with those who support LGBTQ and other un-Islamic positions.

Like I said, Islam is Islam. When it comes to Deen, it is not about left or right.

So you are okay to team up with people who insult Quran and support Israel. You are unable to think beyond LGBT.

I didn't say that. I have said it many times that I am anti-Nazi and anti-far right.

But, I am also anti-radical liberal. These radical liberals are threats to Muslim countries too; their ideologies can impact our conservative cultures.

I guess you can say I am a centrist.

Been watching some of his videos recently, so I do have to add that I’m glad he’s taking initiative and tackling and speaking up on the issues some present day well known Muslims seem to be avoiding or even going along with!! I’m speaking about the Qaum-E-Lut group, and he’s doing a great job exposing some Muslims who are consciously or in carelessness spreading misinformation regarding this topic.

Having said that it, does not mean I automatically agree with everything that he has to say. Don’t know him that well.

This might help. He has cropped a video of Hamza Yusuf to attack him. What a tool this man is lol.
