When will Mohammad Hafeez be removed from the line-up?

Horrible player, horrible man and he epitomises the truly awful 10-15 years of cricket we've had since his debut in 2003.

Hafeez has brought disgrace to Pakistani batting line up

Should be dropped permanently from all formats

#Hafeezout

Can you guys pls share this hashtag on any of the social media that you use so atleast even if PCB doesnt kick him out, maybe this might bring humiliation of a new level and might help the cause

#hafeezout

when the selectors are watching younger players out-performing the so called senior players most of the time, then why not replace these oldies with promising young talents for long-term ?

In there minds ( shehzad and Hafeez) both played good knocks and emphasis on " in there Minds "
As for ur question when will hafeez be removed form the team. Ans to that question is Never.
Because the priority will go down. and the hafeez will go back to domestic and score a 50 and vola be back in the team.

Selfish is a dangerous word to use. If we start axing batsman for selfish batting, we wouldn't be able to field more than one or two. Having said that, Hafeez has to go because he doesn't offer anything anymore.

You need to look back a bit of history - for last 7 years. PAK had about 6 CS - Illyas, Qasim, Mohsin, Moin, Rashid & Inzi; 4 Head Coaches - Waquar (twice), Mohsin, Dav & Arthur (Probably Moin as well in short term); 4 LO Captains, excluding MoHa himself - Afridi (Both ODI & T20), Misbah (Both), Azhar & Sarfraz (Both); and 3 PCB Chairman in multiple terms (who approves the squad) - Ashraf, Sethi, Khan (I am not going to count respective tenure, because I don't have calculators at hand now).

Now, in this 6/7 years, thre had been many changes in PAK team, in fact entire cricket set-up - good, bad, ugly incidents. Many positives, more negatives - team has reached No. 1, has dropped to No. 9; PSL introduced, a team visited PAK, PSL final in PAK - not everything is black in those years.

BUT, along with so many ups & downs - one universal truth is MoHa's status & position in this team. It was not Misbah responsible for that Mohali loss - you can check back what MoHa did at that crucial point - Afridi, Waquar lost their job - MoHa kept batting in top 3. Dav joined the set-up & PAK did reasonably well in ODI in WI, IND, SAF - MoHa kept his spot at 3; Qasim came as CS, did few changes - MoHa kept his spot in SAF. Moin came as CS, WY came back as HC - MoHa went to WC as specialist bat; PAK lost 4-0 in Bangladesh (& lost like club teams) - major shakeup in the team, MoHa kept his spot after scoring 8 (or 12) in 3 innings as specialist No. 3 ........ Arthur came on his high horse - 6 months down the line MoHa led PAK in AUS & now has replaced Babar at 3.

Politics or links doesn't earn you so much with that sort of stats. This guy is treated like what Tendulkar got in India - this can't happen unless, he is rated like Tendulkar among every ranks. There are very few players in PAK's history who were beyond politics, nepotism when it comes to be selected in the squad, for that their status was beyond that level - Kardar, Fazal, Hanif, Imran, Javed, Wasim ........ Mohammad Hafeez. Even Waquar Younis had to sit out when PAK had Shoiab, Razzak & Mahmood with Akram & Saqline lost his ODI spot to Malik after 2002!!!!!!!

Mark this post - he is 40 now (you can take my words on this - at Toronto, I have met someone who had played with him at Sargoda) - if he can keep his fitness at remotely acceptable level, he'll lead PAK again.

In between those ups and downs, various changes with regards to captain, selectors or coach there was a period when Hafeez returned to the Pakistan team and he was genuinely a valuable all rounder so his selection was justified in that moment. But now here he is, an old man who has failed to deliver with the bat and completely sucks the life out of the innings yet he is selected.

I can understand where you are coming from when it comes to his status, still that does not permit coach and captain to include him in the team; although you can argue that they've been handicapped when it comes to options or they must genuinely value Hafeez which is strange because Junaids would tell you that Mickey Arther is above that sought of nonsense :yk since we're left with no choice when it comes to Hafeez he should not be batting higher then no.6, he mus swap positions with sarfraz.

Assuming he doesn't pass his bowling test before the NZ series, he has to perform with the bat there. If he is playing as a batsman only against the Kiwis and flops, he surely has to be dropped for good.

Most likely after 2019 if we are lucky but before 2023 for sure. Neither PCB nor Mickey will drop him anytime soon

You are being hopeful i won't be surprised if he even plays the 2027 world cup. In that we might see him opening with his son. This guy needs to be kicked out he will never leave.

I lost patience with him a long time ago, but if the team management finally saw some common sense and promoted Sarfaraz up to 4/5 with Malik at the other position, it would leave the number 6 position vacant.

Can any poster suggest a good batsman to play at number 6? I have been thinking about this, and despite his limitations, Hafeez is one of the cleanest strikers and timers in Pakistan, especially against pacers.

Other options:
Imad is average
Faheem is young and needs to stay at 7 for a while
Haris, Talat, any other young batsmen need more time and deserve to play in the top order
Umar is ....well hes an Akmal

I actually can't think of anyone else. It's not like Sarfaraz is doing that well there. It would be good to hear others thoughts on it.

Most PP'ers seem pretty certain he will play in NZ. I really find it hard to see his place in the side at all without his bowling at this stage of his career. Especially since Haris Sohail is on the bench. Think he should be dropped now. Although I would've played him if his bowling was still legit.

His stupid hashtag in his tweet shows deep is denial he is .

The entire thing rubs me the wrong way if he wants to “serve Pakistan” so much, why has been so entitleted when it comes to batting up the order?

The guy is the remanant of the seniority culture that needs to be done away with
