When the draft took place, many people were pointing out that their squad looked pretty good.

Now, they're pretty much knocked out and are having a close competition with MS for last spot.

Injuries, Salman Butt, Aaqib Javed. What or who is to blame?

Lahore Qalandars definitely need to sack Aaqib Javed as soon as possible.. And need to make some changes in their management as well In my opinion..

Because on paper they had a good team

LQ have had a lot of ins and outs over the past 4 years, but one has remained a constant............Mr aqib javed!!

The writing should be on the wall for him and he should be fired.

No amount of talent can overcome a garbage management.

Look at the West Indies as an international example.

They dont have a plan or strategy. They keep on changing their playing 11. Team has to be consistent.

First thing is no clear strategy in their batting. If the initial strategy was aggression at the top then why sohail akhtar was pushed down. He was doing well at the top.

Secondly, I felt they were unfortunate with injuries and players leaving. It upset the balance of the team.

Thirdly, they needed another spin option to partner lamichanne. Hassan khan should how played he is also handy with the bat and in the field. Lahore should have been wise with their options.

And to think Aquib Javed was a contender for Pak coach after Waqar left and Mickey hadn't been appointed yet. We would have been ranked 9th or lower in all formats by now had Javed got the job.

Aside of Aqib Javed I also think it's team combination as well , and bad captaincy for Fakhar Zaman , they just don't seem like a team that's good enough I think they need to start from scartch from management to players as well.

Signing ABD was a huge mistake whether people accept it or not.

I am now beginning to really question his commitment and motivation for T20 franchises as he just doesn’t seem like someone who cares one bit. His severance of his relationship with the SACB was a major red flag in my opinion.

MAybe he really does need to retire from all forms of cricket and spend his days with his friends and family back home.

1) Aqib Javed - Such an uninspiring individual. No wonder Lahore has looked the least unified team in PSL. 11 individuals who just turn up and hope for a victory.

2) Lack of leadership. LQ might have seen better fate under Hafeez. However, since Hafeez's departure, they've looked like headless chickens.

A player who calls it a day on his international commitments to pursue more lucrative T20 gigs, that too when he's most needed by his team, can never play with the same commitment as others. Teams will be better off without him.

Once you go behind very difficult to come back up. Lahore has been terrible since PSL 1. They're still paying for not picking a proper captain in PSL 1 and trying to rely too much on international players. Now even when they're trying to remedy it, they're always behind where other teams are already gelling, getting stronger each year (e.g. IU, QG, PZ)

Karachi's in a similar position. As is Multan partly because they joined later than anyone else, thus automatically behind.

Really if you want it to be fair, PSL has to allow a complete auction again. Otherwise the front runners will always be at the front.

If I was Lahore, can't believe they didn't take Misbah, taking the winning captain alone could well have changed their overall chances, a man who's used to winning in this tournament. I would have taken him even above AB De Villiers in this case.

Think tank goofed up yet again when it comes to team combination and strategy. They had bowlers who were genuine tailendars with Shaheen coming at #8. They were literally banking on ABD and Fakhar to score big in every game.

Now Aqib will make excuses that ABD and Hafeez broke down. So baaqi 9 bande chane bechne aaye huyi the? Islamabad performed well with second grade overseas players because their think tank came up with a solid local team base.

They really need to fire Aqib for putting together a poor team combination.

To be honest, they should have won the game against PZ when they had them 20/5, zero excuses to let Misbah ul Haq of all people lead his side to victory.

It is time for Aqib Javed to go, he can't keep retaining his place undeservedly. The injury to Hafeez was unfortunate. But overall they played better in this PSL vs prior PSL tournaments.

100 percent right, same for brandon macallum

The tail was too long. Shaheen was coming in at 8.

They should try to trade Rahat and get a pace all rounder. Also, give Hassan Khan a go. He did pretty well for Quetta.

In any civilized country, if the team is losing for 3 ( now 4 ) years in a row, coach would resign ( or fired ) even he thinks he is not at fault, but only in Pakistan Aaqib is still there.

They have been unfortunate with injuries this season. The presence of Hafeez and de Villiers would have made a big difference.

However, they also need more Lahori representation. Some of the best Lahori players like Shehzad, Imam, Wahab, Kamran, Umar and Zafar Gohar etc. are playing elsewhere, although I don’t see Umar going back there.

The inclusion of the aforementioned players would have a considerable impact.

I would also like to point out that as a franchise, LQ has a lot of room for growth and can do much more. Apart from the name Lahore, they don’t seem to have much of a connection with the city.

They need to do what PZ have done. Although they haven’t had Pashtun representation after season 1, they have continued to market the franchise as Pashtun one.

They also focus heavily on branding and promotion, and you can see their presence everywhere in Peshawar. I am not sure if that happens in Lahore. This obviously won’t impact their performance, but it will help grow the franchise in popularity.

The owner also needs to put his foot down and stop being soft. He has basically become a meme with his reactions and expressions on the sidelines, and it appears that he is now doing it for the cameras to please his fan club.

The most annoying part was there different playing 11 for every other match. They should have shown some patience with one combination which might have worked .Aqib javed seems culprit for the mess and should be shown door

PSL as a whole is wrong for Qalanders. 4 editions and some phus phussi performances.

Qalanders need to sack Aqib Javed and rope in Darren Sammy as captain and Graeme Smith as coach.

Lahore Qalandars keep making the same mistake every time.

An insufficiently deep batting line-up. To be fair, it would have been a less of an issue with a top tier batter like AB around, but even AB has suffered in shallow batting lineups in RCB his whole career.

The whole problem of LQ has been batting fails caused by an order that ends at 6, whereas teams that have succeeded like Peshawar and Islamabad have capable batting much deeper in their lineup. End of the story.

I feel sorry for them, they've been unlucky with injuries. I think LQ have played better this season than in previous editions.

Lacks of utility cricketers, when they picked all-rounders in previous season, they picked too many. Now when they are going with specialists, they have 4 proper tail enders. Should trade Yasir Shah for Zafar Gohar

Need to get replace head coach and also add a mentor with the team management

Azhar Ali saying exactly the same thing “When you come last for 4 tournuments than its not luck it’s something to do with management”.

Hopefully sense prevails and Aqib is replaced.

definitely fire Aqib Javed; his decision to select Salman Butt as injury replacement of Mohammad Hafeez was extremely shocking and then he directly selected Salman Butt in the playing 11 while more deserving players were on the bench  Highly incompetent.

Aaquib Javed seems to be more interested in individual performances than what team requires. You could see that when Haris Rauf took 4 wickets. Javed is too emotional. From a humanity pov that is great but he needs to lift the entire team collectively to win the matches.

- hafeez getting injured
- poor selection of overseas players
- wrong team combination

AB devillers injury is more of a result of IPL and BCCI threats then anything else.

Hafeez was unlucky i hope he gets fit for WC we need him.

LQ Management needs a change time for a new Coach, Fakhar Zaman il stick with him.

I want Collingwood or Mohd Wasim as a Coach.

It takes something for even the politically correct Ramiz Raja to call your injury a topi. Ramiz would never have said what he had said about ABD's injury and reasons for not touring Pakistan had he not been genuinely convinced that ABD made a cheap excuse not to go to Pakistan.

A few players who they could have snapped up with no fuss at all and who would have made a difference:

Imam-ul-Haq
Mohammad Hasnain
Raza Hasan

Went wrong from the beginning. Seeing their team after the draft it was clear to me it was a loser team.

They need to improve their recruitment . Signing the likes of Ramdin and Salman Butt are embarssing selections. They also need to come up with a combination. They seem really muddled in their thinking at times. They should try to appoint a coach who can manage players and has experience in franchise cricket.

The Qalandars management are due to meet this weekend to discuss who will/could be their coaching staff for PSL5.

Will be scandalous if they retained Aqib again. Maybe they approached Dean Jones for this season
