Where will Asia Cup 2023 be played?

There’s no doubt the wealth gap between PCB and the BCCI is massive. Losing out on ICC dollars will impact Pakistan much more than india in any sense. The indian broadcast rights deal is multi billions of dollars whereas Pakistan is in the tens of millions.

Sethi is backed into a tough corner here, I think if anything they want to keep the asia cup in pakistan more for optics than anything. Once you shift something like this out it sets another precedent and will cause issues come champions trophy time.

The proposal of India playing its games out of Pakistan and everyone else playing in Pakistan is the best possible solution even if it means less profit for the PCB. The PCB will be docked $3 million from their earnings from the Asia Cup as a result of the costs of India playing outside Pakistan but hosting the Asia Cup successfully in Pakistan will pay off in terms of making a case of hosting future international tournaments in Pakistan.

Najam Sethi in an interview

"If we don’t play Asia Cup, we will face a loss of $3 million. If we don’t play World Cup or boycott it, then our relations with ICC will worsen. India and Pakistan game in a World Cup also holds great significance. Issues will arise"

"As far as finances are concerned, my personal opinion is that in the past, PCB was dependent on the money from ICC, so we had to agree to their terms. However, now PSL has made PCB financially independent. We get the same amount from PSL, which we receive from ICC. We have decided that we are ready to bear loss of $3 million in order to protect our honour and political stance"

"I know people don’t want us to go to India if India doesn’t come to Pakistan. People want us to stand our ground and not be dictated"

Will they stand their ground?

I reckon they will cave in as usual.

Will they stand their ground?

I reckon they will cave in as usual.

I thin they have to now or could be a last min bluff to see if India changes its mind.

I think it would be a great move by the PCB. This has to be nipped in the bud otherwise will continue for another decade. Pakistan should be smart, pull out of the World Cup at the last minute and the Pak government should say it was their decision same as the Indian governments decision not to come to Pak. This way the ICC cannot criticise the PCB.

It would be great for pakistan to pull out the day before their arrival. It’s the same crap india would pull.

I really can't wait to see this happen.

I think somewhat inevitably, there will be a lot of rhetoric, but in the end Pakistan will go to India for the WC and India will play their Asia Cup fixtures at some “neutral” venue (or not go at all).
The economics will defeat everything, including pride.

Javed Miandad in an interview

"Forget security. We believe that agar maut aani hai toh aani hai. Zindagi aur maut toh allah ke haath mein hai" (If death is your destiny, it will come for sure. Life and death are in the hands of the Almighty). If they call us today, we will go. But they should return too. The thing is the last time we went, but they haven't come here since. It's their turn now"

Our stance is as per our convenience to pick and choose. We will do what's beneficial for us.

At the end of the day it is just a cricket match even if its a world cup game, it is still just a cricket match, if India forfeit points or lose to Pakistan, it will not be the end of India, life will still go on, but if you want your political stance to have any weight or importance to show the world, than not playing Pakistan in world cup would send a bigger message about India's Political Driven stance to not play Pakistan.

Jay Shah, the President of the Asian Cricket Council in a media interactio:

“We are awaiting feedback from other nations to finalise the venue for the 2023 Asia Cup and clarity on the India-Pakistan match"

“We have achieved a historic milestone of generating additional revenue for the ACC, creating new avenues of income such as NFT, Hybrid Graphics, and Pathway Tournament rights.

“This has resulted in a record-breaking 26.2 million USD earned. This incredible milestone was achieved by creating, exploring, and monetizing new opportunities. This goes to show that the ACC is doing a great job of innovating and expanding its reach in the global market"
